Tsakumis Across the Country on Sun News…(AND!) at an BC NDP Fundraising Dinner???

126

Firstly, please join me and host Sneha (pronounced Snay-ha) Kularni on Sun News’ ‘Newswire’ this morning LIVE at 10:30am sharp. We’ll be talking about the Premier of BC’s falling numbers, what might be expected out of their convention and what the future might hold for the BC Liberals.

Secondly, I was privileged to be invited to sit as a guest at the BC NDP fundraising dinner at the Hotel Vancouver last night. Frankly, it reminded me of the BC Liberal dinners of 1999.

A packed house, with LOTS of traditionally BC Liberal supporters in the room, including major developers, financiers and government agencies. Astounding! Adrian gave a very good speech and made some very good points about environmental stewardship, with respect to the Enbridge pipeline and he touched on the importance of the resource sector, too. He also spoke of how more civility in government is not only preferable, but necessary. I was, a little disappointed that he didn’t touch on health care and justice–two issues, that, grow larger by the day. Our hospitals and courtrooms are packed to overflowing, with no end in sight. What’s he going to do to fix the problems?

Nevertheless, it was marvelous to spend some time reconnecting with my friends at the BC Paramedics (whose convention I recently spoke at) and my very gracious hosts, the BC Anesthesiologists (at whose upcoming convention I will be the keynote speaker).

I was delighted to spend some time with my friends Mike Farnworth, who is as articulate and wonderful as ever. And, of course, what’s an BC NDP event without the big Irishman, John Horgan, who I must say is looking terrific after a 40lbs weight loss (my heartiest congratulations, John!).

Horgan also had the funniest moment of the night. As I was making my way out of the hotel towards the valet, up to Horgan runs Vancouver city clowncilor and cycling fascist, Geoff Meggs. Meggs, who I hadn’t seen since the last civic election–and who I’ve met several times before, clearly didn’t recognize me without any of my hair and the goatee gone, as well, being minus 52 lbs. Horgan, who along with Farnworth and other NDP MLAs are regular readers of this blog, not missing a beat, looks at Meggs, gestures to me, and says with a huge smile, “Geoff, you two know each other, of course…” At which point Meggs extends his hand to me and says, “Hi Geoff Meggs, nice to meet you…” When I told him it was me, he turned three shades of purple, dropped his head and walked away in a hurried shuffle. ROTFLMAO! I almost had to pinch myself to hold back the laughter. Here’s Mr. Tough Guy, who incidentally is spouting more lies this morning on NW about the need for MORE bike lanes and more insidious one ways, and other associated bull, who finally runs into a real tough guy, and he scurries away into the night like frightened rat. LMAO! So much for Meggs the tough competitor! My challenge still stands Geoff. An open debate on the bike lane failures in this city and the viaducts. I’ll mop the floor with you or leave blogging for good. But if you lose, you immediately resign your seat and never run for public office again.

What an evil little man he is. So unpleasant, too. Oh well…

All in all the BC NDP have much to be proud of at the moment. They are firing on all cylinders and are committing to reasoned and moderate policies.  Adrian is doing very well and the NDP unity is palpable.

On the other hand, it was announced this morning that Christy will NOT face a leadership review at the convention in Whistler this weekend.

Higher ups in the party are telling me that they were “petrified” she wouldn’t get more than “65%” approval. A dismal showing to be sure.

Think about it: John Cummins has more guts than Christy! LOL!

Anyway, if you miss me this morning on Sun News (Ch. 177) at 10:30am (PST), I will try to post the link ASAP.

Stay warm and dry, it’s miserable out there.

And if you’re late getting around the city, take a bike lane! They’re wide enough for most cars and always empty.

    Hi AGT
Good to have our man inside the next emperor’s camp.
Curious to know if Mr. Dix mentioned or hinted what his plans are for the pathetic excuses our crown corps have become. If all the ‘friends and family first’ are removed, there may be up to 50% vacancy at the top in each of these shameful outfits. May cause some chaos, but good for the long term.

    Any insights?

p.s. I was driving in the bike lane the other day, and a friendly Vancouver officer reminded me to stay off. Not one bike in sight I said. He sighed and waved me off. Thanks!

    JT.

    • AGT says:

LOL! LOVE THAT!!! DRIVE THE BIKE LANES PEOPLE!!! LET’S OCCUPY THE BIKE LANES!!!

No, Adrian gave no insight on big ticket items.

But that’s not the right place for it. He did well, though.

      • Derek says:

I won’t drive down any bike lane. That would be illegal and dangerous. Equally on a street such as Hornby, with its expensive curb protected bike lane something should be done about the cyclists who DON”T use it and use the adjacent vehicle lanes instead. I almost hit one approaching Robson heading north on Hornby the other day. He appeared out of my blind spot causing me to stand on the brakes to miss him. My aggravated horn honk generated an “F You” from him. I was driving my BMW convertible with the top up. This generates a massive blind spot, so I’m diligent in checking all mirrors every few seconds.
He was bloody lucky BMW’s have good brakes and that I have good reflexes.
I wonder if there is a bylaw prohibiting cyclists from using the road when there is a bike lane on the same street. Bet there isn’t!

        • AGT says:

Cycling superiority is beyond being our of control since Vision infested Silly Hall. If a bike lane is free, I say drive it.

          • Blake Newton says:

I used to race (club raced) bikes back in the late ’80s early ’90s). I still do ride occasionally. I guess the one thing I see is the cyclists pretend they are a vehicle, then a pedestrian the next moment. I always tried to give a margin to people unless they were jerks. The one thing I see coming from a lot (not all ) of them is a smug sense of superiority as though they were some new species of man. I am glad to see some access to bikes but Vancouver is absolutely nuts. Old “moonbeam” sure is earning his nickname.

  2. Janos says:

Thanks for the insider’s perspective, Alex .. did Dix reveal any of the NDP platform cards that he has been holding close to his chest till now? I don’t blame him/ them for doing so as Chrusty & Co would only try to steal them and call them her own as she has attempted with her new anti-dilbit stance.

And any chance were you brought up to speed by the paramedics last evening as to what the LIEberals and the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) are proposing to do with their ‘negotiated’ contract talks? Frightening times ahead and the teachers should be very afraid as well..

    • AGT says:

Neither one but I’m looking into them.

I was a guest, so didn’t feel it was appropriate to get into heavy issues.

Adrian gave a good speech although not a great one. But in such a venue with that crowd he did exceptionally well.

  3. class says:

Can’t wait to hear your take on the lib convention, I am sure you have someone inside.

  4. John says:

On the other hand, it was announced this morning that Christy will NOT face a leadership review at the convention in Whistler this weekend”

OK, enough with the theories… who’s really keeping this thing afloat?

    It’s absolutely beyond comprehension.

    • AGT says:

No shortage of people still stuck in Adrian’s memo.

      Ridiculous.

      • whiterockj says:

not ridiculous… just completely irrelevant given the people he is running against.

CC and friends pointing at dix’s memo is about the same as a bank robber running out of the bank cash in hand pointing at a jaywalker and wondering why the cops are still chasing him/her instead of the jaywalker.

dix’s transit fine…now that was ridiculous….. whats next, the liberals are going to get a photo of dix not recycling a pop can and make it an election issue?

    • Seymouir Forest says:

That’s old news. It does tell alot.

There was no leadership review vote held at AGMs this year which is required ordinarily. The actual vote is not taken at the Convention (or is it CON-vention?), it’s taken at AGMs, the ballot boxes are supposedly sealed and then brought to the convention folllowing for the count. So it can be up to four months for ballots from let’s say West Vancouver-Tiddlycove to be counted.

An odd way to do things. But that’s the BC Liberals. Always have to do things the more complicated way.

  5. observer says:

Alex, you rock! It’s hard, however, to be a prophet among your own nation. You, as I’ve already stated, reinforce my faith in humanity. Thank you for all good work you’ve done and keep doing for this great province and its people. God bless!

  6. Higgins says:

Story of the ‘mousy’ Geoff made my morning, Alex!
Christy… no leadership review. Of course, as she is the one holding the only key to the BC Liberals Balls safe.
    Last, a question.
How is Bill Tieleman doing, any love between you two, or he wasn’t at the ‘convention’ (which I doubt, but…)
Keep up the good work AGT!

  7. John says:

Alex: About your weight loss – I have a question that for me is serious.
I’m currently on the “heavy” side but look ok if I can disguise my gut.

If you’ve commented elsewhere about this, apologies, I missed it.
What did you do or not do differently to accomplish the loss?
I love my food, but I think if I can manage to drop 30-40 pounds I might be able to go another 5-10 years before I need the knee replacement.

    Thank you

    John

    • AGT says:

I eat breakfast that consists of granola and Greek yogurt. Lunch is either ramen or Pho, or even a piece of fish and some brown rice. Tons of water during the day and no alcohol unless with dinner or after dinner. I workout three times per week and that includes bike, run, weights (heavy lifting on Saturdays) and I box once per week.

Now, portion control is also important. No more three bowls of pasta. No more two steaks.

      Get my drift?

An hugely important as well: B100, royal jelly, beta carotine, blueberry extract, 3-6-9, apple cider vinegar pills and one mega vitamin. Everyday. No juices (except grape fruit, no pop except the odd ginger ale.

And I take half an hour a day where I meditate and pray.

      Much better life.

Good luck! Let me know how you’re doing.

      • Janos says:

mmmmm …. pho! Could eat it everyday!!

      • motorcycleguy says:

ah…portions….that is a real buzzword around our house….my Mom came over for dinner one day (kind of an old school Mom)…..she says to my girl “NO! don’t let him serve himself…he needs PORTIONS!”…this regardless of the fact we cook together, I am just not allowed to serve myself….too many years on my own never knowing the next meal I guess…..I don’t mean that in a condescending way to those who really have a tough time geting their next meal, I mean in a lazy (busy? easily distracted?) single guy kind of a way…..and yes, pho good…learned that on the last walkabout

        • RS says:

That’d be the low fat granola ‘n’ Greek yogurt — right?

“… that includes bike…” Round ‘n’ about the bike lanes — right?

“…and I box once per week…” Tieleman given up as you’re sparring partner? Will there be a Meggs vs Tsakumis qualifying match prior to a Trudeau vs Tsakumis championship match?”

Any luck infiltrating the BC Liberal lovefest in Whister and sabotaging someone’s PowerPoint presentation with the “Calamity Jane” slide?

          Na’sai kala

      • Bob says:

        So no Hy’s anymore?

  8. Emily Rugburn says:

I would have paid to see Clowncillor Meggs’s reaction to you! That would have been worth its weight in gold!

And the Lieberal convention…. oh, to be a fly on the wall in Whistler this weekend. I’m assuming you have at least one spy there?

  9. ToneBone says:

Alex, what most people want, including us ‘lefties’, is a fair and honest government that includes everyone, not just a select few. I feel better about Adrian Dix than I have about any politician in a long, long time, including a few NDP’ers. He comes across as intelligent, thoughtful and open, qualities I fervently hope he brings to the next government of this province. Lord knows we’re due for some of that for a change.

    • AGT says:

Me too. He did very well last night, regardless of having a captive audience.

      Doer-like.

      • reap the wind says:

No matter how well intentioned a politician may be…..

One cant help but wonder how many “favours” are “owed” to reach the position of, leader of the party…..

        • Seymouir Forest says:

Quite a bit. A basic rule of finances in politics. The kind thing you will never see taught in Political Science.

What becomes Accounts Receivable now, will become Accounts Payable later.

if left untouched, it becomes “due for collection”.

A person has to be a complete idiot to think some of those endorsementsor let’s say “help” of his were purely for the good of the NDP and supposedly the province. They are done for a reason, and not always for the good of the party and province.

Same goes for Kevin and Christy Crunch or any want to be leader.

Was very lerry of that Kevin Falcon 20/20 project of Beedie’s. I saw the names and thought “oh geezus..”

Saw the names endorsing and giving funds to Dix’s leadership and thought “ooo boy… here we go..:”

          • Tiger says:

As much as people don’t want to see political debts on the right or the left a lot on the right will be ventures and projects that provide jobs and taxation thus growing the economy whereas on the left most of the moneybags they get are from unions who do their job well if they represent the best interests of their members and don’t really create much in the economic activity department. Just spreading the existing cash around more.

            • Seymouir Forest says:

Both parties know how to shovel it and spread it…

Which leads to the lowly volunteer. They’re like mushrooms.

Kept in the dark and fed alot of manure.

or the grassroots of the party.

They keep getting cut off and fed alot of fertilzer.

  10. ferryworker says:

No way! I refuse to pay the extortion level parking charges lol!

  11. Shell says:

Geoff Meggs – Vancouver Critical Mass-Hole!

Geoff Meggs – This Is Who You Represent!

    Motherf**king Bike [HD]
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgCqz3l33kU

Hey – by the way – Geoff Meggs!

Road tolls? Really? Why? Because Americans have them?

Isn’t that what the federal and provincial excise tax is for ? They don’t pay that in the states. Thus, their road tolls.

Provincial excise tax on gas in BC is 20.06% per L
Federal excise tax on gas nation wide is 10% per L
GST on gas nation wide is 5% per L
TransLink gas tax in the GVRD is 15% per L

So why do we need road tolls ? Why is the media just laying down? Where are the real questions ? Why is the media saying things like “It’s going to happen”?”

Why isn’t the media reporting the FACT that federal and provincial excise taxes on gasoline already pay for infrastructure?

What ever happened to saving your money and waiting to buy? The government tells us all the time to get out of debt and only buy what we can afford. How about they do the same!

    • Blake Newton says:

You also forgot the carbon tax. But I hope you write a nice note to thje newspaper. Let them know these things because when you look at the fuel bill it really pisses me off the way these crooks keep double-dipping.

      • nonconfidencevote says:

        My lowly prediction,.

The lower mainland will have road tolls everywhere west of the new Port Mann Bridge in less than 5 years.

It would be easy to do. Every bridge would have scanners. $1 a day per vehicle.

        The revenues would be massive.

And to be honest, If they invested that money ONLY into improving the parking lots we call freeways in this gongshow of a Lower mainland…I wouldnt mind it as much.

Just think of it as the equivalent of a lotto ticket. Since the middle class is essentially dissappearing.

        A poor mans tax

  12. Chris says:

    Hi Alex,

Follow you religiously and your are right on. Keep up the great work.

If you have not checked the georgia Strait, there is a media animation, re clark and the off shore miners. Just a short clip but says it all.

Cheers and have a great weekend.

  13. ToneBone says:

I know it’s off-topic, but you gotta get a load of this:

    http://blogs.theprovince.com/2012/10/25/martyn-brown-british-columbia-need-bold-leadership-and-vision-not-partisan-attacks/

Is The Province playing some sort of sick joke on us?

    • Seymouir Forest says:

Just filling in space because there isn’t any NHL hockey happening.

Martyn Brown should talk. He didn’t encourage the party to do what he’s outlining now. And neither did Campbell. They were both in their own self made self controlled world.

What Brown is saying isn’t PhD level. Any MLA worth his or her bought at Staples briefcase does just that, listen to the people and act on their concerns.

It doesn’t mean everything is granted. But the better MLAs actually get out and do things, and fix problems as best they can.

If Brown had acted on what he is saying that Advertisement column of his perhaps the BC Liberals would be in much better shape.

Trouble is, they don’t and never did listen to those who can tell there is trouble.

But he is right about those socialist hordes at the gates.

      They’re already here.

A few have probably already gone through cataloges of office furniture to write out the work order for their Minister’s office.

The NDP back boys and gals are already lining up for lobbying.

  14. Brian says:

Four word to describe CC and the liberal party

    Dysfunctional, Dishonest, Insane & Intolerable

  15. James1 says:

    Some great insight, Mr. T.

Loved the story about Meggs…….it figures, though.

And for all you bike lovers out there, having been held up by construction along 2nd Ave and Ontario in Vancouver, well, now I know why.

It looks like they have put concrete curb type barriers so you can no longer get access to Ontario, by turning left (either going eastbound or westbound on 2nd.). But guess what? You guessed it!! There is access for bikes to traverse the barrier!

Thank you Van City council! Making it harder to traverse the City, one car at a time. That should be Vision’s new motto.

    Idiots.

    • Schnapps says:

I bet you that’s the bike route Meggs takes to get to City Hall and he’s the only one that uses it!

Funny, I biked to work for eight years in Vancouver and got by just fine with the bike routes circa pre 2005. The one place that was scary for me was the Burrard Street Bridge but that was because of BIKE COURIERS WHO HAVE NO RESPECT FOR ANYONE AND ALSO THE MENTALLY ILL WHOM THIS GOVERMENT HAVE FAILED. If I lived there now (have since moved to Chilliwack) there is no way that I would be biking to work. I have a family and would not risk my safety to bike on the streets and being a working mom have major time constraints. I think that any government policy making should be done for the greater good of many and not a group of people you can almost count on one hand. There is so much coverage in the news about the affordability of Vancouver and projections of a million new people moving to the city over the next ten years. Simple solution, Light Rail Transit for the Valley. Sustainable living that none of the politicians want to touch. Not viable because it won’t get them elected right now. If you build it, they will come!

  16. BC Forever says:

I cant believe there are still a thousand people supporting the LIEberals and they are all in Whistler this weekend.

    Well….its not April Fools……oh wait…..its Halloween……I get it now.

  17. ToneBone says:

I went to Value Village this morning looking for a Christy Clark Halloween costume. They were sold out…

  18. Wayne Russell says:

    Alex:
Curious, do we the tax payers pay for the libs convention, meals, fuel, rooms, etc, etc, etc. or do they have to pay their own way?

  19. TrueNorthist says:

Well, I am sure the NDP puts on a great show, but I would expect you of all people to be able to see through their lies. If you thought bike lanes, viaducts and free dope were bad, just wait til ol’ Dix gets his wings.

    • AGT says:

I’m not saying it won’t happen.

But bike lanes and viaduct won’t be happening under Adrian. The drug legalization idiocy might. We’ll see.

      • TrueNorthist says:

I’ll say it again old son, just so I can refer back to it, a year or so from now. You should know better! I guess you have gone over? It sure sounds like you have. Don’t get me wrong, you have every right and I wish you bon chance! But I will be in mourning for my fallen hero for quite some time…

I am hopeful that one day, when the doublespeak and subterfuge gets to be too much for you, you will see the error of your ways and come back where you belong. You are being used Alex, and you should know it. Did they promise you a riding? A ministerial assistant’s portfolio? Or, a Ministry, hopefully in a sure win riding no less. I hope it’s the latter, as you certainly deserve it and just might be able to push back against the fanatical tide, at least for a little while. But rest assured, you will ultimately be purged once your political usefulness has been thoroughly abused and drained away. That is how fanatics roll these days. You’re just to principled a fellow to last long in that festering den of deception.

Damn! I feel like I have lost a big brother! You have broken my heart. So I guess it’s farewell old bean, hopefully only for a short time. Your a good fellow Alex and a tremendous asset to any political party and I truly wish you and your wonderful family the greatest of fortune in all you do.

With greatest respect and deepest admiration.

        • AGT says:

          You’re deeply confused.

None of what yiure have written is even remotely true.

I will never vote NDP or endorse them as a party. But I will laud them when they’re doing the right things.

          That’s my job.

  20. Yikes! says:

It’s been awhile but I’m back. Thanks for keepin’ on, keep in’ on. Anything on Bloy and Lee’s hospital fiasco in Burnaby? These two dunces are priceless. Ol’ de Jong thought he had the perfect clowns to deflect his govt’s failings at Bby hospital. This trio couldn’t organize a two ambulance parade! Keep on rockin’ in the free world, Alex.

    • AGT says:

Will do, pal. Nice to hear from you. Glad you’re back.

    • Seymouir Forest says:

The dunces are priceless. One (BB) is an example of someone who made big errors and stil gets rewarded for his efforts from what I’ve been able to put together.

He’s also an example as to why this political patronage nonsense has to end.

Speaking of intrigue. What happened to Raj Hundal who was going to run in Surrey Tyneland or something for those Socialist Hordes At The Gates. He suddenly went Exit-Stage Left faster than Snagglepuss does.

      • AGT says:

I know what happened but do not want.to discuss it. It’s an intensely personal matter that has nothing to do with Raj as a politicIan.

I would only be impairing his and his family’s healing if I reported the story.

I truly feel bad for him.

        • Seymour Forest says:

Must have gotten in trouble with the law or someone or something big.

Has to be a bit big to suddenly stop what he was doing.

          Rather unusual…

          …and suspcious…

Too bad too. He was doing all the right things from what I’ve heard.

He’s quite personable. Maybe a little too much.

Stuck to Bruce Ralston and Sue Hammel like super glue. The Hammel family was involved in his nomination campaign (he was Hammel’s CA at one time)

I wear one for two reasons: 1.) I’m a teacher and don’t want to be seen being a bad role model for my students. (Ah, the perks of retirement!) 2.) I usually ride as fast as my legs will move me — and I’m never sure of how quick my next stop will be.

  23. Brad says:

Alex said: “He did very well last night, regardless of having a captive audience. Doer-like.”
    ___________________________________________

BUT, remember that Gary Doer was more on the right-side of the Manitoba NDP and was always cheerful, affable and a likable guy. Furthermore, the MB NDP is much more centrist (including its base) than the BC NDP.

Hell, the Manitoba NDP wouldn’t even introduce “scab labour” legislation, in contravention of the MB Federation of Labour’s wishes, even though the BC LIbs have retained same from the Harcourt era. And the BC NDP now apparently even wants to remove secret ballot union certification. The MB NDP won’t even go there. In order to KEEP their centrist vote.

Why not just remove secret ballots during a provincial/federal election? Same effect.

OTOH, the BC NDP is renowned for being the most left-wing chapter of Canada’s NDP. And Adrian Dix is part of BC’s left-wing. And has been known to be very manipulative and self-surving politically in his political career with the BC NDP. Don’t kid yourself.

To top it off, many, if not most, NDP candidates now running for the BC NDP are quite leftist – from public sector labour activists, to leftist social activists, to fringe enviro activists. At least moderate Mike Harcourt had a much more moderate and balanced slate heading into the 1991 election.

Harcourt, at least, had some moderate business-friendly folk such as Dan Miller and Paul Ramsey, to name a few. John Horgan would be considered to the left of Dan Miller, who was the interim premier during the late 1990′s.

Sorry Alex. Absolutely no makings of a Doer compared to Dix and his potential NDP caucus. OTOH, the SK and MB NDP are renowned as “orange” Liberals compared to the more doctrinaire BC NDP version. Heck, the former leader of the SK NDP was a vice-president of corporate Nexen. Do you think that the BC NDP would even go there?

Alex said: I was, a little disappointed that he didn’t touch on health care and justice–two issues, that, grow larger by the day. Our hospitals and courtrooms are packed to overflowing, with no end in sight. What’s he going to do to fix the problems?”

Again, the BC NDP has critiziced the current gov’t on every issue… healthcare, edeucation, poverty, user fees, ETHICS… I can go on and on… and that has created an illusion and HUGE expectations that the BC NDP will SOLVE same with the portion of the electorate that is currently supporting them in current public opinion polling. Soft support I may add.

Again, the NDP would need to expend additional $billions annually to even nip these problems in the butt.

And that’s why I have previously stated that I give the BC NDP 1 1/2 years before the public turns against them. Same thing happened after 1975, 1991, and 1996. Just the left-wing nature of the BC NDP animal.

Same thing now happening with the Nova Scotia NDP whereby one year ago they had huge approval ratings that have now collapsed with the NS NDP base abandoning same and NDP premier Dexter now the least popular premier in Canada according to ARS. Dexter was one of the most popular just one year ago.

In terms of further evidence, after the ’72 BC provincial election, the federal BC NDP vote collapsed to 2 seats during the ’74 federal election. Same after the 1991 provincial election when the federal NDP collapsed to 2 seats in ’93, ’97; and ’00. The public turned on them.

As Wayne Gretzty said… don’t go where the puck is… go to where the puck is heading. My 2 cents.

I said he was Doer-like. I didn’t say he was Doer.

I appreciate your points. They make sense, and I don’t doubt they will become manifest. But they also know that if they do as you suggest the Premier in waiting will be Dianne Watts, and after that the NDP will be done for another three terms at least.

Ah, this is why I check this blog daily; the insider information. I’m glad to hear Dix has impressed you. I’m still waiting for him to speak to the general public so that I can form an opinion. I suspect that despite your respect, you will be criticizing the NDP government harshly in a year or two. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

watching the news this evening with clips of the lieberals convention. It looked a little thin in the audience or was I missing something. there appeared to be empty seats, old people, c.c. in heels to high & a jacket too tight with a lot of chatter about how they were going to win the next election. The news on the Victoria station was entertaining. The guy wouldn’t really say the NDP was leading in the polls. It was funny, it was like they were trying to leave the impression the lieberals were leading. c.c. on the radio was entertaining also. Who would have thought we had the highest child poverty rate in Canada, dirty hospitals, importing foreign workers. It was all so grand & fun & cherpie.

I have watched a lot of politicians speak but she takes the cake when it comes to the b.s.

Glad the NDP dinner was a success. loved the comments on Megs. Poor guy, he might as well find a bike & pedal out of town because if there is an alternative come next election he will be voted out of town.

Toss a coin: BC Liberals or BC Conservatives!

Imagine you are in a room from which you can’t escape, and a fellow human being is making a complete and utter fool of themself … and it’s getting worse by the minute … still you can’t escape!

This is our province, of which I am proud. And, I can’t escape this travesty!

    • Seymour Forest says:

      John sez:

“Imagine you are in a room from which you can’t escape, and a fellow human being is making a complete and utter fool of themself … and it’s getting worse by the minute … still you can’t escape”

Don;t need to imagine that. I’ve been in such a room many times.

We called those a “Nomination Meeting”

I’ve been in another similar type of room many times.

We called that a “Riding Executive Meeting”.

So glad Meggs never got his NDP chance. I had nightmares dreaming of how he would put in BIKE LANES to Victoria

  28. LC says:

While watching the BC Liberal convention live stream I’ve learned a few things.

Apparently there will be more issues on the table at the spring legislature (which could be being done now in a fall sitting.)

We’ve seen a throne speech done in a radio station, and now it’s Saturday morning “question period” done by party members at a love-in convention (Mark Marsden scripted of course) instead of tough question in Victoria (which could be being done now in a fall sitting).

Please tell me we live in a democratic country.

What I consider to be the most bizarre thing when it comes to BC politics, is how it is that any self-respecting BC/Canada resident (of average intelligence or better) that cares about their self/family/friends/colleagues/acquaintances/BC, Canada and the world, could possibly bring themself (considering the performance of each over the past many years) to cast a vote for the BC Liberals, BC NDP, BC Conservatives or Vision Vancouver.

There’s no way I could do that, not and continue to feel like a productive/valuable Canadian anyway.

  30. Froth says:

To those that keep harping on about the NDP DESTROYING BC.
    Stop it!

It is nothing but stupid rhetoric — No NDP government has ever DESTROYED BC Economy.

BUT there is nothing that trumps this: We need to throw the BC Liberals out. Its time for our ten year SPRING Cleaning.

The corruption has to be stopped. There is no reasonable reason to want to have a Talk Host as Premier. NONE!

    • KeithC says:

Thanks Froth. A voice of reason. The economy was red hot with the NDP at the helm……employment records set that the rest of the country could not match, industry wide open in all sectors, badly needed highway construction and schools being built at a record pace, and a budget surplus the Libs squandered in the first month of office. Is it just me or is my hatred of stupid old peeps getting worse?

      • KeithC says:

O ya….and stupid right wing knee jerk religous Knuckleheads that dont believe in dinosaurs (the Devil put the bones there just to fool us cos the world is only 5000 yrs old) , or a womans right to choose. And those that believe troubled suicides burn in hell, F You. I feel better now. Time for a beer.:)

    F’ing comical!!!

now the liberals are claiming they wont have time to fix any of the problems they promised to address this year because the NDP will want to debate the legislation they want to ram through next spring……

BUT OH NO..we can not have a fall sitting. thats just not going to happen.

translated into english.. we dont want to sit this fall because no one trusts us and anything we do will be questioned making us look bad…..oh, and we have screwed up the economy so bad with 3p projects that we cant afford to fix anything anyways.

It seems to me that the socialist/neo-commie circle-jerk is more fevered when something positive is said about Comrade Dix, than something negative about CC or JC.

Does anyone have a link to AGT on Sun?

Methinks some laddies here of certain voiced opinions would have to have some awefully massive cajones to compete with this guy in a circle jerk. And be it said that this boy actually uses his name when he blogs…..cos I am not a faceless gutless Pussy hiding behind a keyboard and a bible with as much good sense as a billygoat with two peckers and a banjo playing hillbilly with a toothless grin and a jug of screech. Though I do have a connection with a guy that has a still.

        • KeithC says:

Also, Let it be said that I hate not just Fascist little men with peckers of limp biscuits. (Look up the definition of fascist as it refers to big business interests hiding behind the skirts of church approved government policy) but cranky old peeps that cannot seperate the truth from the chaff spun from Big Brother because they would rather poke fun of those that want to make a difference because its easier to hide in ignorance and fear than stand up for those that need a helping hand. And as usual I have to look like a concieted fellow because I am always right, damn I hate that.
