(UPDATED) ‘EXCLUSIVE’ BREAKING NEWS: BC Conservative Party Cleansing–John Cummins and Other Rabid Evangelicals Being Given an Ultimatum by a Majority of Constituency Associations!!!

254

You heard it here first…

It was only a matter of time before John Cummins’ bovine stubbornness and deep-seeded arrogance would be rewarded with a full-on mutiny.

After packing the Board of Directors at their recent BC Conservative convention with inexperienced Neanderthals of the Reform ilk, Cummins has been willfully ignoring a brewing storm. He lost John Martin (hardly devastating), previously a ‘star’ candidate in Chilliwack, but too–and much more significantly, lost  MLA for Abbotsford-South John vanDongen. This, I’m told, was a significant enough shock for many of the members, that they immediately sought to withdraw their support for the leader. Apparently, Cummins’ weeks-long, juvenile sniping of the honourable vanDongen wasn’t enough for some members prior to convention, but as soon as vanDongen hit the jettison button, a good portion of the membership had a change of heart on Cummins.

Call it their ‘Come to Jesus’ moment. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

I can confirm for you this afternoon that the single largest donor to the BC Conservatives is on his way to provide leader Cummins with his moment of reckoning.

That particular donor, whose name I will not release as he’s not a public figure, will give Cummins a very short window to resign.

And he’s not alone. Said donor–a highly respected British Columbian with unimpeachable integrity, who has personally donated over $20,000 to the party, will be armed with TWO DOZEN letters from constituency association presidents.

My darlings, it was inevitable. How did Cummins expect to survive with just the Evangelical vote?! Rank insanity! He will also be told to take EVERY SINGLE ONE of his knuckle-draggers with him. All the bigots, all the homophobes, GONE!

Or else…

Behold the letter:

Dear BC Conservative Family,

Under the leadership of John Cummins, we have not been able to raise funds for the CA’s and we have not been able to bring new members into the party.

Under John Cummins, we have lost our only MLA, our candidate in Chilliwack and many young promising candidates who see no future with John Cummins and Randy White.

The party is running over budget $20,000 this year and the petty infighting has turned into a witch hunt against anyone considered not loyal to John Cummins. All the while the party has lost sight of the goal and has slid down from the high of 20% in the polls to a disastrous 11% and falling fast.

John Cummins has taken us to the foot of the mountain but he is not able to take us to the top. We are therefore asking John Cummins to resign immediately.

To date, these are the courageous and principled presidents, who have endorsed the above letter and are now asking for John Cummins to resign immediately as leader:

1. Kevin Chapman, President Abbotsford South

2. Lyle Collie, President Chilliwack

3. Robbie Armstrong, President Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows

4. Gordon Reid, President, Victoria Swan Lake

5. Antonio Simoes, President Burnaby Deer Lake

6. Bill Rusin, President Burnaby Lougheed

7. Grigori Khaskin, President Coquitlam Malardville

8. Ariane Eckardt, President Burnaby North

9. David Millar, President Burnaby Edmonds

10. Milan Kljajic, President Vancouver Kingsway

11. Ryan Warawa, President Vancouver West End

12. David Mohr, President Vancouver Langara

13. Ian Tootill, President Vancouver Pt Grey

14. David Wilder, President Vancouver Quilchena

15. Allison Patton, President Surrey Whiterock

16. Kulwinder Turna, President Surrey Tynehead

17. Kamaljit Thind, President Surrey Whalley

18. Bruce Carson, President Saanich North and the Islands

19. Shirley Diggle, President Saanich South

20. Bob Bauder, President Juan de Fuca

21. Michael Hubbard, President Esquimalt-Royal Roads

Remember as well, that only 54 of 85 BC Conservative constituencies are up and running, and many of those with only 3-5 Directors in place. Just 35 of them are properly constituted. So, that’s 21/35 that want Cummins and his rabid church group gone pronto. That’s a whopping almost TWO THIRDS of the active party that demand Cummins and Co. be gone!

Now, in case you thought this is somehow great news for Premier Clark and the BC Christy Party, let me douse those flames with an ocean of water.

The interim leader of the BC Conservatives will be former BC Liberal organizer and former BC Conservative candidate Rick Peterson. I contacted Peterson at his home the other night (I’ve been working this story all week) and while he didn’t confirm he was going to be interim leader (he didn’t deny it either), he did say this:

“Look, Alex, you’ve known me for twenty years. I want what’s best for this province, I love the people; you know that, I always have. My record speaks for itself. I like Adrian as a person, he seems like a fine man, but I don’t trust the NDP–not one bit, and neither does a good portion of this province. The first job of any leader of a renewed BC Conservative Party, should be to approach the BC Liberals and have Christy resign immediately. She’s done an awful job; the public see it and her numbers continue to drop to new depths. She’s totally out of her league; that much is obvious to anyone. And if we can’t get her to resign, hey, it’s simple: Then I expect that the BC Conservatives will run a candidate in every single riding in the province come election time. We won’t support an amateur. It’s as simple as that. We need a winner in the Premier’s chair–and we don’t have one. Only that will bring the two sides together.” (Rick Peterson – October, 2012)

You read it here, first…that’s the plan. It might work, it might not.

Now let the games begin!

And, of course, prepare for the denials…

Goodness, I leave for an hour and half workout and all hell breaks loose.

Please pay attention:

1) The people telling CKNW that they didn’t endorse dumping Cummins are either lying or cowards. Do not believe them. I have the emails between them and the party organizers they communicated with. Two recanted–fair enough, because their complaints were verbal. The others are ALL ON BOARD. If the Cummins fools continue to attack me, I will release the emails and if it’s embarrassing to anyone–because there are personal comments in those emails, tough.

2) The woman who called NW and claims that “several” people on that list told her they never endorsed the letter to remove Cummins, is telling a lie taller than the Empire State Building. Nice deflection by the ‘God Squad’. Several people did not do that. Two did.

3) I FULLY STAND BEHIND MY STORY. When Cummins claims my story is exaggerated, he’s also lying. His top party backer is against him. A majority of active CAs are against him, and he just dismisses such concerns??? Is this guy at all well? This is precisely why he’s in trouble.

4) The Cummins ‘God Squad’ is trying to intimidate the people on this list. The calls have been fast and furious. This is how cowards and manipulators operate. They should be ashamed! But this would require a conscience.

5) I’m a little disappointed in CKNW. They didn’t call me for a comment (that’s usually what you do when you’re covering someone’s story–it’s a basic courtesy), but instead went on about the few people backing off their commitment to remove Cummins (as a result of being intimidated)! So, as soon as I got out of the gym, I called their newsroom and spoke to Shane Woodford. He was professional, courteous and polite–as always, but had no interest in getting my comment, instead, he was more interested in getting the “couple of people on the list who are denying their involvement on tape.” In fairness, I thought my readers should know this. To me, that’s a very interesting way of doing a story. ‘Nough said.

This story is fluid with more developments through the weekend.  Cummins continues to deny he’s on the bubble, but if he doesn’t finally go and take the super-religious nutters with him, the BC Conservatives won’t elect a single MLA. Not one.

Stay tuned.

  1. Stan Bugle says:

“Consequently, I foresee no circumstances under which I would not be leading the B.C. Conservatives to victory next May.”

This is Cummins’ latest comment!! This guy has missed his true calling – as a manager for the Iron Shiek in the WWF. He is the most deluded person on the political scene in BC right now – and with Christy Clark as the leader of the Liberals this is an amazing accomplishment.

Anyway they need to make an “I Quit” button for the BC Conservative party’s web page. When they do, I will gladly click it at once.

  2. Marius says:

Funny how so many politically active people and politicians themselves are liars. The tendancy to squeal like a little piggy when caught making a statement that can be proved … voice/email/drunk online commentary … is abjectly depressing and hilarious. The pro’s doublespeak and obfuscate so it sounds impressive but when analyzed it means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

The people want an actual attempt at honesty. (Except by koo-koo religious nutballs)

    A sorry state of affairs.

I do believe the BC Conservatives are pretty much finished for now and the old Socreds/Gordo-Liberals have no home where they can take over and appear clean and fresh. Christy is the worst Premier ever and slimy Moe is preparing to be the “Lord Protector” behind Dix’s “Game of Thrones”.

In short we are so very $crewed.

Happy Thanksgiving that all the politicians will be drunk and ……., thus not picking our pockets as efficiently this weekend.

  3. Franco Aquilini says:

Well, I guess I learned my lesson. If one disagrees with Tsakumis and speaks the truth about what JVD is all about, then one does not get to join in the fun on this blog.

    • AGT says:

No, that’s not right. What you wrote was actionable. And you were an asshole about it.

In addition, you aren’t Francesco. The Aquilinis are friends.

If yiure want your comment approved you cannot make actionable statements.

If you believe them true, attach your name, COWARD.

  4. Walter says:

Breaking news… John Cummins goose is cooked

    Gobble Gobble

The BC Conservative Party, a once bright light on the horizen is now being dimmed by minds from the dark ages!

  5. beacon of truth says:

Yes The Munster has verified that he is truly Frankenweenie. The frankfurter that basks in the light of god like a hot dog at the cineplex.,

  6. Shell says:

Off topic, but wondered what your thoughts are on this article.

Jeffery Simpson from The Globe and Mail is calling the Enbridge Pipeline dead.

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/commentary/you-heard-it-here-northern-gateways-dead/article4589760/?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=Referrer%3A+Social+Network+%2F+Media&utm_campaign=Shared+Web+Article+Links

Is Jeffery Simpson right, or is he just G&M’s Keith Baldry?

  7. John Perkins says:

    Re: The Management Committee’s ultimatum.

John Cummins and his followers, truly, are not connected to reality. Here are my reasons for thinking so:

    1) They are unable to attract good people – increase their membership. They skate around this issue when pressed, citing success in the Okanagan and the Island. They try not to reveal numbers; because, from start to the present, they show only embarrassing increase – if any.

    2) They worked long and hard to get ‘anyone’ from the fold to assume leadership. If the revolting Presidents resign, they have no one/not enough to inspire A) Those that remain B) Prospective members they solicit for the future.

They have squandered the only strength and momentum they had. They are like a fish flopping about in the keel of a boat … not knowing it is dead, it continues to flop frantically, hoping again to land in the water.

John Cummins et al did a good thing of bringing the Children out of the desert, as did Moses! When they got out of the wilderness, though, Aaron took over to lead them into the Promised Land.

Mr. Cummins: Is there a message in this story?

Your insistence on continuing this fractured attempt at leadership is embarrassing, delusional, arrogant, petulant.

You have no credibility with the segment of the population that has the power to do what you hoped for.

Please do the right thing, the adult thing, and resign.

And, take your kind with you. Because if you don’t, know this: When you are ousted – whatever the vehicle, they will be swept out the door with you by the better humanity that still exists.

    Finally!

  8. Janos says:

Let’s be honest, Cons .. as has been stated by soooooo many others here on various threads and posts, the main reason why your party even became a viable option is simply due to the fine job the LIEberals have done over the past decade plus!! Accept it .. you are nothing but a default vote because of screw-ups and now you have proven to be screw-up yourselves!! I can only imagine how you would have managed a slightly more complex issue .. say for instance, healthcare!!

Christy’s numbers will now start to rise again giving the lying thieves the false belief that their governance works for the families of BC.

  9. e.a.f. says:

No one is forced to vote for the “lieberals”. You could vote Green, you could vote independant, you could decide to run as a candidate or find someone who would. Democracy only works when we work at it. People need to get out & vote, they need to be active within their parties so no one interest group takes over.

Voting NDP will not be the end of the world, as we know it. There are those who believe it will be but when I look back on the last NDP government lets remember, Glen Clark left the province in better financial shape than El gordo & c.c. have.

Glen Clark might have had his fast ferries, but the NDP didn’t pay the ceo $1M a yr. to run the corp into the ground.

The NDP did not have the highest child poverty rate in Canada for 8 consecutive yrs.

Some may fear the NDP is too far left. However, Dix & some of his senior M.L.A.s aren’t. The old tune of the Unions run the NDP is so old it won’t even make it to the radio these days. Of course you could take the position even if the Unions ran the NDP I don’t see how they could do worse than the lieberals have done in the past 10 yrs. If they had we might still have a railroad, no run of the river projects, clean hospitals, no smart meters for $1B.

We need to acknowledge that other interests support/run the lieberals & conservatives. Be they big business, small business, regligious wingnuts, the Fraser Institute, foreign corps, etc.

Citizens shouldn’t wait for the next corporate money person to set up a new political party. Start your own, be involved. It may take money to run a party but so does volunteer effort. In this coming election, given the lieberals & conservatives aren’t going to be too popular, people have chance to make a change.

I personally will be just as happy with an NDP government. For those who won’t, get out & do something about it. Be thankful we have the right to do so.

  10. DON says:

“B.C. Conservative Leader issues ultimatum to dissidents” cbc bc

21 + dissidents and the “Leader” is showing amazing bouts of democratic reform.

    Cue the circus song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1D5Sa2Yq-2g

  11. TT Esty says:

These are the same long knives that did Gordon Wilson in when he reactivated the old Liberal Party namely Socred hummingbirds looking for a place to nest. Strange that they would wait for Cummins to put that old Socred train back on track and then try to derail him, thus, illustrating their own lack of initiate but ever alert to opportunisim.

Peterson’s claim, ‘We won’t support an amateur.’ simply means that if ‘we’ support him/her, he/she isn’t an amatuer. As for Cummins being head of the ‘god squad’, well, that is the face of the new Conservative Party or haven’t you been paying attention to the Harper group. The only difference between the BC Liberal and the BC Conservatives is the name and that is why switching Parties comes so easily.

  12. Ray says:

    Alex
what do you think about the following comment on Laila Youle ‘No strings attached ‘ column?
It brings to question the very real possibility of Liberal ministers/Allison Patton ex Conservative Riding Pres.
There appears to be some collusion with the Liberal Party .

One picture is worth a thousand words, but several might tell a different story.
    Posted on October 17, 2012

Methinks that Bill Tieleman might be bang on with his recent story about the motivation and connections behind the warring factions in the BC Conservative Party. These photos are from a magazine advertisement in Metanoia Magazine, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mountainview Group, the business of Allison Patton( and her husband Caleb Ng). Featured photos include Mike De Jong, former premier Gordon Campbell, finance minister Kevin Falcon, Stephen Harper and of course the BC Conservative executive.

How inconvenient to be caught lauding notorious shark fin eater Alice Wong.. but all certainly give additional food for thought. No pun intended.

    UPDATE:

In another issue of the same magazine published by Allison Patton, a most telling two page spread that really is worth a thousand words..

  13. Jay Cobb says:

It is fortunate that the truly shallow nature of the BCCP and John Cummins in particular has been revealed to us all. I’m sure there were a number of us who would have supported the BCCP in the next election. It is obvious now that the party as it currently stands, has lost sight of the goal of saving the province from the ruinous consequence of an NDP government. Cummins is clearly only interested in Cummins.

So well I am disappointed, I am also relieved that I will not have mistakenly cast my vote for such an amateurish bunch. I am left with little choice but to support the BC Liberals, even though they will lose. Clark will be dumped and a wholesale house cleaning can be expected. Perhaps a new party will emerge.

  14. DON says:

How could you be forced to support the Liberals…isn’t that the true definition of crazy in light of all the evidence. Why not just withhold your vote. Vote for an independent or something, there is something fundamentally wrong with the current gang of liberals.

  15. Mike says:

Hi Jay – at this time I intend to vote NDP – what are these ruinous consequences of the NDP. Whats the fear that would have you vote Liberal? With all due respect.

    Thanks

  16. gregory says:

Clark is hoping that people will hold their nose and vote for her fearing Dix and Crew will dismantle the economy.

It will be a stretch for Clark making this happen. She is getting help from Cummins and his band of merrymen but she will need a to pull a big rabbit or two out of a hat. Not sure if she can find them though.

Regardless of how daft she is the people around her are just as bad or worse.

  17. nonconfidencevote says:

I WILL NOT VOTE LIBERAL. Case closed.

If it takes a nose plug and a gravol pill to control my gag reflex. So be it.
Even the slightest chance of Christy Clark winning the next election has me willing to vote for any other party.

The BC Cons have proven their inept ability to self destruct 6 months BEFORE an election proves they are not capable of running this Province.

I will grit my teeth and vote for the NDP.
4 years of socialistic union coddling cant be any worse than the past 10 years under Liberal “rape and rule” and the last 1.5 years under “Dummy”.

  18. AGT says:

    Complete agreement.

I’m at that point too. If she remains leader and the Conservatives haven’t jettisoned the religious extremists…I will spoil my ballot.

  19. Mike says:

Alex why can you not support the NDP – top reason.

    Mike

  20. AGT says:

I just don’t believe in dividing the economy before you try to multiply it.

I’m more a libertarian than anything else, although I identify as a progressive conservative.

My political belief system is complex–but not complicated.

  21. Mike says:

Fair enough -simply put – deregulate and privatize – no to organized labor/ unions.
    Thanks

    Mike

  22. AGT says:

    Not so fast.

I strongly support unions–both public and private. But their must be reason and purpose in the demands.

In addition, I’m against privatizing previously public corporations as you simply create a monopoly thereafter.

  23. Mike says:

Sorry when I think libertarian I think Scott walker – hardly a champion of the middle class in my view – admittedly a bit narrow at times.

    Mike

  24. AGT says:

Yeah, not my brand of libertarianism.
