Adrian Dix, John Cummins and Christy Clark: Profiles in Cowardice
I noticed over the weekend that at least one member of the mainstream press understands what I’ve been saying for eight months: Adrian Dix will eventually have to take a position on something, and stick to it, or face the wrath of the voter, perhaps sooner than later.
Here, is Mike Smyth’s excellent analysis.
The Premier and her people have been retweeting it like crazy.
Let me get this straight: Christy Clark and her cabal are now saying that Smyth has credibility? Because all they’ve been doing is trashing him to anyone that will listen–as he continues to hold her feet to the fire over BC Rail/Basi-Virk. Interesting…
The point here, though, is that Dix is finally taking it in the teeth. He’s been abysmal as leader of the OPPOSITION. Not only isn’t he taking positions on anything, when in session at the legislature, it’s like watching a bought prize fighter pulling punches. Other than Farnworth and Horgan, the rest of them appear confused as much as confusing.
But leaders lead, and Adrian isn’t doing that right now, instead, opting for the expedient route of letting Clark implode. Never interested in telling us how he will lead this province to better days, he’s failing you by not doing much–except offering bafflegab.
Courage, would lead him to present the mother of all attacks; Lord knows Clark provides enough material.
Regardless, Dix sits there.
That’s called cowardice.
I also noticed late last week that the BC Liberals were cancelling going back into the legislature this fall. Well, is this really a surprise? Since when did Christy believe in democracy? Or responsibility to YOU, the taxpayer.
FACT: Christy ducked questions on a regular basis while running for leader. Particularly over her definite involvement in the sale of BC Rail. She also ducked questions about her ability to serve and win the next election under the BC Liberal banner.
FACT: Christy avoided having ANY debate with her opponents when she ran in Vancouver Point-Grey. No cost was spared in evading reporters, including multiple ghost cars, plus party and government paid deflectors.
FACT: Christy spent no time in the legislature taking the tough questions, or answering them when necessary.
FACT: Any time a controversy erupted, be it Basi memos or Basi-Virk documents, her friend Jaspal Atwal’s disgracing the legislature by appearing during budget day or her confused comments on the Senate or her confusing comments on the Enbridge pipeline; defending two by-election losses, or even explaining the value of her whopping, out of control office expenses, she typically spends anywhere from the first 24-48 hours hiding from the press, while being coached on what to say. Christy flubs almost every line anyway, but she opts for the expedient route; what’s best politically and to hell with you and your families.
That’s called cowardice. It’s also called evil, but let’s stick with one theme at a time.
Then, this morning, I read, in several places, of John Cummins’ ABSOLUTELY INSANE comments about John vanDongen, his only MLA and his party’s greatest asset.
Cummins, in another bozo eruption, said about vanDongen:
“It’s unfortunate he’s not been all that supportive at this point.”
“What more can I say? He seems to have a bit of a problem with the leadership here at the Conservative Party, but then again he had problems with the leadership in the Liberal Party.”
What a first class FOOL! Cummins, being typical of cowards, lashes out at vanDongen, who clearly has significant smarts and won’t endorse his leader, a dinosaur, for re-election.
If anything, vanDongen deserves an award for bouncing Christy and then Cummins. The message here isn’t that vanDongen is tough to get along with. Quite the opposite, but he also has YOUR best interests at heart first, and is fully prepared to walk away from corrupt leaders. What else would you call Cummins when he’s collecting $4,000 per month from a party that needs to go in the hole to pay him? And let’s not even talk about Christy’s corruption…or we’ll still be on the same post at Christmas.
Of 2019.
Interesting though, that Cummins hides behind his pot shots in the press and doesn’t face vanDongen to tell him off like a man.
That’s called stupid, but it’s cowardice too.
There now; don’t you feel better about politics in BC??? Three parties; three leaders, with the spines of gastropods.
Sure profiles in cowardice.
Totally gutless. And all on your dime.

A Sign O Da Times?
When Gordon Campbell was leader of the BC Liberals, even at his lowest, he could always guarantee–AT EVERY EVENT, the big dollar players, who support the center-right. As I’ve been telling you the last week or so, there are many who are now actively trying everything to get rid of Christy, so that there is a better chance of winning the next election. Or as one puts it: “At least wed lose with some dignity…”
Well, without the money men, you can’t win an election (just like the NDP, without union money).
At the Premier’s annual golf tournament (always held at the University Golf Club), Campbell could guarantee 40 plus teams and a full roster of advertisers from across the province.
But a funny thing happened on the way to Christyville…last week (this last Friday, to be exact) when they held the annual event, Christy managed to attract a measly 26 teams and minimal advertising support according to party insiders.
“Alex, it was like playing golf in a cemetary. Long faces and I didn’t hear ONE person mention that they were pleased with her. She’s just killing the party with every passing day. It’s sad to see. My vote for her during leadership was totally wasted. You were so right…she’s awful.”
You bet she is.
And the hits just keep on coming…
What can I say?

The money people may just decide not to put any money anywhere. If they don’t like the NDP & they don’t like their traditional parties, they might be better off saving their $ because it is most likely the NDP will win.
CC isn’t going anywhere. She isn’t having the leg. sit. (I’d suggest they not be paid during that time) Cummins hasn’t struck a spark although they do have a “meeting/convention” coming this weekend, which may or many not be interesting.
John Van Dogen went to court but they appear to have put off any decisions until next yr. What is it with that judge. Surely he can give a decision on a matter this important prior to next yr.
So c.c. doesn’t like Victoria. All they do is talk about government? Well in a “government town” that is usually the conversation. when you are a politician it is always a good idea to keep “government” in mind & on topic. If she didn’t like Victoria & talking “government” she should have stayed out of politics.
Of course if c.c. went to other parts of Victoria or the Island in general she might find people are talking a lot about all sorts of things:
the price of ferry fares, poverty, lack of funding for education & special education particularly, the growing use of food banks by working poor, Perhaps I might suggest c.c. go out & speak with the homeless in Victoria. They dont’ talk that much about government. She might also try some of the transition houses for abused women. They might want to talk about something other than government, etc.
looking forward to the next column.

It’s already up. Enjoy!

In answer to the question asked Dix about doing away with the secret ballot on Union votes, just look at the number of union leaders and ex union leaders who will be running and probably be elected the way things are going. I think the secret ballot thrown out is a slam dunk! It is back to the Clark era again.

Im with Cummins. The last thing the conservative party needs are the rats swimming away from the sinking liberal ship. VanDongen may have had the intestinal fortitude to tell christy where to go, but he needs yo be kept on a short leash.

You say that GC could get more people out for a fundraiser golf tournament? My guess is he couldn’t have got many more if he had stuck around. Sure, CC is a serious twit, but GC and his cabal could only sell his BS for so long, and now the whole Liberal brand is finished. GC was, after all, the one who brought the Basi boys in, set up a crooked process for selling BC Rail, set up the whole HST scam etc.
