‘EXCLUSIVE’ BREAKING NEWS: Just When You Thought BC Politics Couldn’t Get Crazier–the BC Conservatives AND BC Liberals in NEW TURMOIL–BC Election to Move to Fall of 2013!

I distinctly recall one conversation I had with Keith Baldrey about the time both Gordon Campbell and Carole James appeared in trouble.

“It is amazing when you think about it,” Keith chimed.

“That both the Premier and Leader of the Opposition are looking like they’ll fall is remarkable in BC politics. One makes sense, but two is a seismic event.”

Well, perhaps you all might prepare those earthquake kits.

The BC Conservative dumping continues, as the entire White Rock Board of Directors has resigned. Cummins, Elley et al have cocooned in the church basement to figure a way of circling the wagons, although the discontent with Cummins grows by the day. Neither of their star players, John vanDongen in Abbotsford-South NOR Rick Peterson in Vancouver-Quilchena (who just left the country yesterday for vacation), have come out with a ringing endorsement of their leader–nor should they. vanDongen is being pushed to assume the role of leader by the reasonable end of the party and Peterson’s campaign is managed by Jonathan Snoek, a young, bright, committed FORMER Cummins diehard, who is also left wanting of a brighter future for his party. So, you can add yet another, young, moderate, intelligent hand to the exponentially growing list of BC Conservatives that are deflated, as they thought Cummins was a diesel twin turbo, when in fact, he’s a four banger with two cylinders failing on every hill. Add that to their party board being under attack for giving Cummins an absurd and embarrassing stipend (which he doesn’t deserve!) of FOUR THOUSAND a month, and the hits just keep on coming.

But wait! The BC Liberals refuse to be outdone in the ‘Dumb Department’.

At this point, let me interject with an apology to blogger Norm Farrell. Along with Harv, they are the two best bloggers in BC. I love their work even if I’ve disagreed with them, I think twice each. We can disagree without being disagreeable. They’re both wonderful men.

In one recent post, Norm put up a story about intel he’d received regarding the BC Liberals pushing the election off and NOT following through on their commitment to have the election in May of 2013.

I dismissed Norm’s story out of hand. In fact, I ridiculed his source.

I’d like to apologize. He was right and I was wrong. But I was so incredulous that these fools over at Team Dummy could be so unbelievably stupid; I honestly couldn’t believe they’d do something like that–and not recognize how they’d be POUNDED by the electorate as a result of such cynicism and manipulation.

Well, get ready. I can confirm that the Premier’s fools are pushing a plan with caucus to delay the election and try buying time for Christy to resurrect her disastrous premiership.

Ugh! HOW STUPID CAN THESE PEOPLE BE??? IF YOU’RE A MEMBER OF BC LIBERAL CAUCUS THAT BELIEVES THIS IS RIGHT, THEN YOU MUST REPLACE YOUR LEADER OR DIE A VERY PAINFUL POLITICAL DEATH. Are you people well? You want to give Christy more time to sink you? It’s how she’s comported herself since time immemorial! Her pals and insiders are collecting off the taxpayer and she’s using her influence privately as well, to benefit her son–I just can’t tell you that story. Feel better now? It’s all about here while the rest of you take it in the teeth??? You’ll EARN your losses in the worst bloodbath in BC electoral history. If you replace her and Cummins falls, you have a chance to hold the NDP to a bare majority. Much healthier. Think this through. Don’t listen to Boessenkool, he’s out to lunch.

FOr BC Liberal caucus, again: The only way this works, my darlings, is if Clark is replaced ASAP (and Cummins is gone by October of this year). Then you have a chance of rejoining the center-right under someone reasonable and getting great candidates together. Right now, Christy’s big federal Liberal machines is touting “stars” like controversial dimbell Sukh Dhaliwal. If all you do is change the name of the party and buy more time, you’re dead in the water. You read it here first.

Other media and scribes have never been out on the hustings, don’t know the province as well as I do, and have never run anyone’s campaign. I have. You will lose a majority of hardcore center-right ridings if Clark stays under this scenario. She is HATED in the Okanagan, the North and up Island. Her numbers in Vancouver are dropping particularly among women and she’s growingly unpopular in the Valley.

Think!

Randy Hawes, Rich Coleman, Kevin Falcon, George Abbott–all gone. Never mind what any are telling you.

Now, here’s the rub: BC Liberal caucus members who DON’T believe in this system and just want the whole thing to die, are growingly uncomfortable with the bullying tactics of the Premier and three top advisers: Kim Haakstad, Sara the Gum and Kevin Boessenkool. Apparently, the Premier’s Office is being very heavy-handed with caucus while trying to keep a lid on the discontent. Staffing pressures and penalties also abound. One senior staffer was “sent home” (like we’re in grade school, nice move Christy) and another was demoted.

A former staffer Ryan Pineo, has started a blog and is ripping the BC Liberals to shreds, with intelligent and informed commentary. You should go to his blog and read the truth, although his predictions of wins for the BC Liberals in Nechako Lakes, Westside-Kelowna and Kelowna-Mission, won’t happen if there was an election today. I’ve been up here most of the summer. It’s all NDP and BC Conservative country now.

The chaos for the government comes in waves, I’m told. Every time Christy has (yet another) bimbo eruption, it takes DAYS, sometimes WEEKS, of caucus hand-holding just to avoid a full on revolt.

This is just incredible.

And wait until Monday. I have an end of summer gift for Premier Christy Clark before I turn up the heat from raging fire to inferno.

Remember this: She’s NEVER had any Cabinet influence on the decision to sell BC Rail. That’s what Christy has been telling us. She’s NEVER offered a single opinion to affect the sale of BC Rail–in CABINET, EVER. Remember her saying this repeatedly? She told Mike Smyth of CKNW and The Province, she told Marisa Thomas of Global. She called me a liar when I suggested she HAD indeed commented on the direction of BC Rail in caucus and IN CABINET. She told Global and CKNW that there is “no evidence” of her ever having made a single statement about the direction of the sale of BC Rail, ever–NEVER in Cabinet, she said. Remember all that?

Oh yes, and Dave Basi’s memos-to-file are all fabrications, right Christy? Right? Okay. Sure thing. What about your friends Brian Kieran and Erik Bornmann? Were they liars, too, Premier?

Well, Monday, in a province-wide exclusive, you’re going to see a document that will have her, once-again, hiding–and for good reason.

And looking like a consummate liar.

I’ll try and stay away til Monday, but they information coming to me from both the Liberal and Conservative caucuses and camps, is a bloody tidal wave–literally!

Enjoy the sun.

Please be safe out there.

God bless.

If I may paraphrase Jay Jones:

I consider all of BC’s “top” political parties to be spectacular choices, for anyone in the market for DECADENT governance!

    That is all.

  2. Zoot says:

Just heard on NW that Bill Barisoff won’t be seeking re-election. More to follow one surmises

    • AGT says:

Yeah, I had that news too, on Friday but chose not to break it. I really dislike Barisoff. I think he is a major player in the shielding of many things this govt has done. Chief among them, the secrecy over MLA expenses is absolutely shameful. But he hasn’t acted fairly in the Legislature either. An insufferable man if there ever was one.

    Hi Alex.

I’ve found myself at your site often and thoroughly enjoy reading your commentary. I hope that though I’m a novice blogger my blog can grow to be of the same quality as this blog.

I heartily agree with your analysis. This is a stupid, stupid move by Ms. Clark and I don’t understand, if she’s paid any attention to the attitude of the electorate, why she thinks this is a good move. It’s obvious desperation because the smart money says that if she were intoned at all she would know this is wrong headed.

Do you think she’s doing this because she’s been advised to do this or is this her own ill thinking?

I appreciate your feedback and would appreciate, in your capacity as a fellow blogger, if you might take a moment and examine my blog and give me some feedback. I don’t assume to think you have nothing better to do and would hope such a request wouldn’t seem intrusive.

    God bless.

      Hi Ryan:

Always happy to help. I went to the link you provided but your site was down. I’ll try it again tomorrow.

I think Christy doesn’t have one original idea about how to advance the government. Therefore, while she may be getting this advice from her backers, it’s something she’d agree with as she just doesn’t know any better.

      • Andrea says:

A more cynical possibility would be that her backers have figured out that there is no way she will ever get “re” elected and thus are just trying to keep their chess piece in the game as long as possible in order to fleece the province and tax payers of as much money and resources as possible?

  4. Tom Corcoran says:

JVD used his “I’m your only MLA – status-card ” to ascend and secure JC’s $4.000 a month stipend … talk about getting played. Interestingly the former sees himself as the next BCCP leader, yet doesn’t realize his stripes remain that of the old herd. Even the B.C. Rail issue wont save his pragmatic A$$ – as if the personal expense would guarantee him anything – Get REAL!
