THIS WEEK: Tolerance, Spending Sprees and Another Long Train Coming…
And perhaps not in that order. I’ll see…
I’m back on a regular schedule rotation this week. So expect several posts…beginning tomorrow…
We’ll talk about the ‘tolerance’ of INtolerance and, yes, the ‘pride’ parade… completely false attendance numbers included…and how the media simply goes along with the big lie.
We’ll talk the lack of media scrutiny of Christy’s spending spree ON YOUR DIME!
We’ll talk about how Christy treats people–impartial people, when they tell the truth (HINT: She doesn’t keep them around!)
We’ll talk a little (or a lot) of BC Rail…I’ve been doing some more digging…
And finally, we’ll pay appropriate tribute to Sean Holman, who is leaving Victoria with his beloved (and utterly adorable) wife to accept as position as an assistant professor of journalism at Mount Allison University. Will this be good for the state of journalism? We’ll have a look…which I’m sure will mortify many of Sean’s MSM supporters. I, after all, am not a journalist and have provided nothing to journalism, they claim, therefore, I should have no right to pass comment.
We’ll look at that, too…LOL!
As a bonus, I’ll see if I can get a few anecdotes confirmed, coming from the annual Conservative shindig, taking place today at Senator Gerry St. Germain’s sprawling ranch in Surrey. The Prime Minister will be in attendance. Apparently, Christy and her people will also be in attendance; they’ve been clamoring for additional spots for weeks.
Because Christy’s such a good Conservative…LMAO!
Speaking of Christy…CKNW’s Bob ‘The Hammer’ Mackin will be out with his BC Rail documentary tomorrow. Featured interviews include Bill Tieleman, John vanDongen…AND…Dave Basi.
Oh, yes, and me too…HUGE kudos to CKNW for having the journalistic courage and professional integrity to allow for such programming by BC’s top investigative journalist.
Stay tuned.
Happy BC Day!
What, you’re not a “journalist” because you don’t write advertisements for monied political parties and corporations?
Take it as a compliment, Alex. Happy BC (that’s Bribe the Citizens) Day!

Thanks.

Alex good to see you’re back!
Speaking of um, faux journalists turned MLA stenographer, has anyone else seen Micheal Smyth’s amazing attack on van Dongen? It’s beyond reprehensible.
http://www.theprovince.com/news/Victoria+secrets+fair+game+love+politics/7044090/story.html
“”The Liberals say the Conservatives are a bunch of hypocrites to criticize Barisoff, because the MLA who fought the hardest to keep their spending secret was none other than van Dongen.”
And this is proved by? Nothing. It’s just printed verbatim.
So let’s see… at first spotless liberals all demanded full dislosure of their expenses? But wicked van Dongen intervened to cause Barisoff to punt instead?
Because Barisoff was weak compared to van Dongen he shouldn’t have to do the honourable thing and resign over failing to assume his own responsiblities for 5 years of delaying Doyle?
Barisoff didn’t place a gag-order on all committee members? They all colluded EQUALLY? A gag-order equals collusion?
“Both parties have COLLUDED to keep their taxpayer-financed spending sprees a secret at the legislature, as the auditor-general pointed out in a bombshell report.”
Somehow this whole half-decade fiasco now is all van Dongen’s doing? Hence the co-ordinated smear campaign against van Dongen and the refusal to replace Barisoff?
pls advise…
[Translate]
Gosh, Mike missed it on a column? Shocking! lol!
I’ll have to do the unthinkable and actually call vanDongen to ask! Mike has his number, too. He could have called.
[Translate]
Alex, It would be interesting to read van Dongen’s take on being assigned primary blame for hiding the liberal’s expenses.
The pitch is both fatuous and hilarious: John was shielding his future bride… but the ever-vigilant libs had no intention of impropriety!
Never would they conceal THEIR expenses from anybody. Ever. Except that van Dongen “fought the hardest to keep their spending secret..” And so, facing the overwhelming odds (of one man) Barisoff punted.
Except for refusing to obey Doyle’s directives – for only 5 years – liberals under Barisoff, strove mightily to do exactly what Doyle asked for, perfectly.
Proof? Ah… well… sorry you asked, Zero, actually.
Also interesting is why Smyth deleted what he said in his original post: “..after John Cummins called for Barisoff’s head, the Liberals CALLED ME to tear a strip off John van Dongen…”
Several commenters noticed this… van Dongen was targeted after Barisoff’s resignation was demanded by Cummins?
The quote’s gone now. How it became an “Inoperative Statement” is unknown. Did Smyth inadvertently admit he was the liberal’s go-to guy to attack van Dongen? Because that’s what his first story did. That mess is what van Dongen should examine.
Beyond that why are the liberals dumb enough to imagine that attacking one Conservative will either mask the real liberal expense-kleptomania scandal, or increase their party’s electoral credibility?
In only one month of Enbridge Idiocy the liberals squandered another 1% of their votes. Meanwhile the NDP has gained 5% since July,
After trying to merge with the BC Conservative Party – and failing – now the liberals are trying to trash thier only ideological kinsmen? How could this anarchic mudslinging ever bring the ranks together? Pls advise…
[Translate]
It can’t and won’t. They’re dreaming in technicolour.
[Translate]
Speaking of the auditor-general…
Laila Yuile tells us that Dermod Travis, executive director of IntegrityBC, has an informative bit on the BC Liberals cutting Auditor General John Doyle’s budget.

Alex,
Any idea at what time the Mackin piece will be on. I live in the interior and have to listen through my computer.
Look forward to this weeks blog.
[Translate]
Not sure. Bob will get back to me.
[Translate]
Very important as there is NO audio vault due to Olympics..hopefully you will get a link, but I do believe the podcasts are available..
I heard it mentioned a 7 pm time, as well Bob will be on at 10 am to discuss what to look forward to..
he he he.. can’t wait..
[Translate]
I’m looking forward to it.
[Translate]
Sorry, folks,
I don’t get the connection between olympics and no audio vault.
Can anyone enlighten me why they must be mutually exclusive?
[Translate]
I have two theories, one is the truth the other is my imagination..
1. CKNW says it is due to Olympic copyrite,
2. I n my imagination it is so Christy doesn’t have to hear any truths about herself repeated..
[Translate]
What! How does the IOC copyright trump a BC political piece produced and broadcast in BC?
I’ve been waiting to hear this one for a while and was counting on the audio archive as I’m out of province and Internet access is sketchy.
Is there a transcript that might be available?
[Translate]
I’ll be speaking to Bob about it. Worry not.
[Translate]
I think it has to do with the usual idiotic IOC rules around broadcasting Olympic results if you aren’t a recognized broadcaster with them. They control rebroadcasting which probably can be construed as online. They are even controlling how many minutes of coverage per day can be broadcast by a station without the rights.
The IOC are basically bullies that someone should take on but probably don’t need the hassle. Remember that poor guy on Denman who had been selling pizza with the Olympic rings by his restaurant name for decades and then the IOC comes to town and tries to get him to change his name and logo.
[Translate]
Yeah, I did some digging today. It’s simply NW being prudent. It has nothing to do with the usual conspiracies about covering for Christy.
After her bimbo eruption at the Surrey BBQ two weeks ago when she attacked CKWN, let me assure you, she’s lost almost everybody there. Maybe a few stragglers remain. But otherwise, she even lost those on the fence. She’s done there.
No, NW are doing the right thing. Absolutely the right thing.
[Translate]
7pm on ‘NW. They’ve been promoing it all afternoon.
[Translate]
Alex is coming back!! YAY!!
For those of us not into the Olympics, its been a long dry spell of no real reporting coverage…
Welcome back!
[Translate]
I’m actually away, but have cleared my calendar a little.
[Translate]
Where do I find out what time slot Mackin et al will on in? I have a busy day, but I HAVE to listen in on that without a doubt!!
[Translate]
Bob will be speaking with NW and get back to me. I believe it gets a teaser on Bill Good and Simi Sara. Not sure about air time.
[Translate]
Hi Alex,
Good to see you back after 5 days. Was worried the Men in Black may have come and taken you away!
I may be completely misinterpreting the “slant” on things indicated in your above post about what is to come, but there are some places it might be better to not make a mountain out of a molehill.
Having said that, I hope we can have some fun with Dummy’s $4,000 tab at Ferris’ Oyster Bar in Victoria. Gotta be a hundred jokes to spin on that (Dummy’s explanation: “I took the others there to get them in the mood.”.) I wanna know about the spa treatments with Pammy!
How much more digging can you possibly do on BCRail? I already saw the grave dug and filled in (although there is still some movement from the buried bodies).
As for Sean Holman. Not sure what your take on him will be, although your intimation sounds somewaht critical. I was following him long before I ever heard of you (and before you showed up, I think) and was sad to see him shut down his blog. Seemed to have good inside dope, but never spun it as fully as you do. You have far more followers (alas, including Josef K and his inane comments pushing Mary Polak and Alise Mills — he makes for good comedic relief, I guess.). Sackville New Brunswick. Ughh. If the name fits…Sad to see him have to leave the Best Place on Earth and head off to that barren wasteland.
Serious question for you. What is journalism, these days? It no longer requires being published in hard copy or on TV. I know there are journalism degrees, but with other university faculty positions you typically need at least two, and almost always three, degrees to get a job.
And as for Dummy at the Cons confab, don’t forget she is also a good Christian!
I try not to LMAO at my own jokes, preferring for the irony to stand on its own.
Cheers!
[Translate]
1) I’m always here, I’m just away working, while everyone else is vacationing. If I had been arrested you’d know about it instantly. I have prepared an entire network in case that happens.
2) I leave teasers to keep you guessing a little…but if you must: I will NOT be making a mountain out of any issue that isn’t deserving.
3) Sean Holman is a wonderful human being and very good journalist. But does that make for a good instructor? What will he be teaching them? Did his work while a reporter stand up to real scrutiny? Did he not deserve a greater send off when he vacated the corner of the blogosphere he created? Is he part of the Victoria old boys media club that are now lamenting their favorite scuttlebutter? What lesson is to be learned here? It’s a much more complicated story than you think. It speaks to the direction of journalism–real journalism. It’s not unlike faith: You don’t have to be a priest to be a good Christian. And how many priests are anywhere that good? Get it?
4) Journalism does indeed require being published–but on a serious basis. I’ve been heralded for breaking more stories in the last three years than all other news venues combined. Does this qualify? Not according to some…
5) Nothing yet from the ranch, but I’m working on it.
And, yes, I’ll be commenting thoroughly on Christy’s expenses, including the nine dollars at McDonald’s…LOL!
[Translate]
Hello Alex,
I too am concerned about the recent ruling ‘that restricts the use of any tweets and cellphones’ unless it is done by an accredited journalist for two reasons.
Firstly, according to the Vancouver Sun, June 20th, this idea was promoted by a media accreditation committee (an ad hoc volunteer group) comprising of print, radio and television reporters. Is this not another example of the fox guarding the hen house?
Secondly, how many times have the MSM (THE ACCREDITED JOURNILISTS) failed to do their jobs, their duty, their obligation as investigative reporters? Is this because some of them were bought off by participating in the Olympic torch run, a free lunch, or a ride in a Helijet? If it wasn’t for you and the comments from many of your readers (non-accredited journalists) there would be little awareness, thought or discussion about Christy Clark and her good friends: Her x Bruce, Kinsella, Jiles, McLean, Bornmann, Seckel, Baldy, Hanging Chad, BC Rail and all the other shenanigan on how they have screwed the people of BC for generation and generations.
Thank you Alex

a) What have you got against Alise Mills?
b) Are you BCNDP?
[Translate]
Alex , you are a journalist ,your writing ability style have yet to be compromised or other wise tainted by the msm. Don’t get to excited , not everything you have to say is liked by me . However that’s part of expressing an opinion , not everyone likes what I have to say either .
The bottom line however is something you display , Integrity and honesty, that’s why I read your columns blogs and blurbs.
as for pride and tolerance , well if I could care less about the sexual orientation of anyone ,it would require effort . Its pretty much a non-issue, but I must point out that crispy missed a huge photo -opp , she could have claimed to embrace gays ,lesbians ,transgender whatever. It was more prudent to be a thorn in allison redfords side . she would trade it all for a vote , the environment, doesn’t mean a dam thing to crispy. People count for less, unless of course she can gain monetarily or materialistically.
One thing I would love to see , is a forensic assessment of crispy, done by an accredited psychologist. She seems to have a very twisted pathology. I’m sure the she’s well beyond sociopath, and getting into psychotic territory.
Thank you for your recent words of compassion , they were very much appreciated.

Re: pride and tolerance – Alison Redford, Christy’s current nemesis, had the courage to take part in the Edmonton Gay Pride Parade this year. Although I disagree with Redford’s stance on the NGP, at least she doesn’t always shy away from doing the right thing – she displayed her tolerance for all to see in conservative Alberta. Christy, who is attempting to become the Premier of our generally more tolerant Province fails to show up for Vancouver’s Parade – indeed, she seems incapable of rational thought and is the most embarassing and opportunistic Premier we’ve ever had. Damn, we need an early election.
[Translate]
I think the fact it was an election year (and was desperate for votes) had more to do with Alison Redford being at the gay pride parade than anything.
The Dummy should have shown up and marched in the parade….she could have been loved and adored by the 650k in attendance!!!
The people that organize the Gay Pride Parade seem like they drink from the same punch bowl as the Fiberals.
[Translate]
Rafe has a great comment in today’s Tyee. I love his opening: “It was bad enough when Premier Christy Clark was just a relatively harmless photo-op. She’s become a dangerous photo-op.”

I look forward to your comment on the pride parade. During it, I did have my pants off. On Wreck Beach, where it is more approriate to do so.

Happy BC Day!
It’ll be your last under the BC Christy Party, that’s for sure. Water is wet, I hope.
Frankly my fellow Washingtonians and I feel sorry for you because your current premier is an embarassment, your likely next one is an economic disasster, your greatest lobbyist in Michael Geoghegan is being rudely ignored by the current government on issues of your single-payer health care, your greatest journalist in Sean Holman is leaving for Alberta – and making us hope n pray for Sir Alex to keep journalism alive up there. But I know he will….
Oh and The Greatest Pundit of All Time (TM) who should be YOUR Premier probably doesn’t get it only SHE can save BC from Adrian Dix. I can only imagine what she will feel next BC Day when the Premier is NOT Alise Mills but Adrian Dix and Washington State Governor Rob McKenna is personally greeting & hydrating economic refugees from “soft socialism” (thanks Alise) getting off the Amtrak Cascades with free water and a free apple. Perhaps we’ll also provide a FREE Coach ticket for all Occupy nuts who tresspass on our great state to Vancouver, BC with a FREE passport and advance payment of fees to be a BC citizen under Chairman Adrian Dix.
Other than that, enjoy BC Day. Let me help with a good dosage of musclebound Miss BC to help you afterburn BC Night: http://youtu.be/knoPnOlML3U?hd=1&t=2m15s . Oh and here’s some Mary Polak if that’s your flavour of BCPOLI intelligent femme fatale: http://youtu.be/cHvOoSw0ess
Enjoy!
Josef
P.S. It is BC day right? I just had a milkshake because I need some sweetness after reading Sean’s resignation letter. I almost needed to add whiskey to it. The letter: http://pacificgazette.blogspot.com/2012/08/what-sean-said.html
[Translate]
A.G.T. I’m from Prince George and have been following your blog for some time now. I feel like I’m only getting half of the story as I don’t know many of these A__ Holes that you speak of that are pillaging the tax payers purse with impunity. This is one reason that there is a heigher child poverty rate in B.C.. Perhaps someone out there could tell me how I could get CKNW up here. From what I hear NW is once again giving you A.G.T. some traction and that looks good on them fom here.
[Translate]
Google CKNW. You can listen live, on line. I do all the time, as the reception in my house in Cumberland is terrible. Good in the car, but bad in the house.
[Translate]
Bob Turner,
you can also get an app for your smartphone called TuneIn Radio, (Android) then you just make any radio station a favorite, and play it! (on your dataplan or WiFi connection.)
[Translate]
As for the Pride Parade, I am all for celebrating diversity and pride, but why does it seem to go overboard with some of the displays and simulated sex that would make your beloved Auntie Irene blush (unless of course you discovered the key to that ahem locked closet that Auntie Irene and Uncle Carl told you to stay away from before they gave you the keys to their car and said their car is yours to use for the day..)
One can avert, but with the noise and people walking around as if they were in a condo in their fetish wear, it can get a bit much,
Hey, this is Vancouver.. but..
Is there a real need to display bump and hump and dress in leather so tight that one can see the outline of a guy’s weenie and nuts?
Or facsimilie thereof?
in some instances, geezus, put yer pants on. These aren’t the babes and boys you would see around the Kitsilano Bathhouse and Concession. SOme of the scenes would make anyone go blind. Not something you would have your lovable Auntie Irene see. Unless (*ahem*) you wondered what those leather shorts were all about..
Im not a prude, but why does the LBGT community continually stress sex in these parades? Not all people do, but it seems that there is still a focus on sex. Should be fun with music but does equality mean persistent sex? Does it have to mean leather gear showing a guy’s nuts?
Was Hedy Fry out there resplendent with her tight skin leather pants that make her look like she’s carrying two beachballs in a black strech bag? That’s enough to make anyone go blind if you see it long enough and once was enough for me.
As for the foreskin event, one can think of the people that put that on if they received any or offered any tips…
[Translate]
I wonder why these folk that say they want tolerance and acceptance have to put on such lurid displays? I’m taking your word for what went on, as I don’t have tv and if I were going to be in Vancouver, it would have to be something worthwhile to attract me.
If the Straights in “society” and the “religious” adherents co-operated and put on a “Straight Pride” event – would that be seen as discriminatory and hateful towards gays?
John
[Translate]
It goes without saying, Alex, that you are a journalist, i.e. one who presents facts borne out of investigation.
It is too bad the term “jounalist” is one which many pretenders claim when they know they do not do the work that is necessary to warrant said claim.
As well, communication has changed drastically, as you are well aware, and those in the media who are not doing their jobs are suddenly noticing (unless they are too busy kissing their egos) that those jobs may not be there for long because the horseshit job they are doing means their employer may well be on the way to extinction. In other words, people won’t buy crap (MSM) when they can find the truth elsewhere.
Happy BC Day (a little late, I know) to you as well.
And Canada deserved better. Go Sinclair!!!
[Translate]
Cant wait for the Pride parade comments/photos. Alway a great laugh. As for 650,000 in attendance. I called B.S. on that yesterday when I heard it. Publicity trolls.
As for Sean Holman resigning to go to Mt Allison U. I wonder if he will be in Sackville NS or in Halifax at their other location. Either way I’m sure he’ll enjoy the change of pace.
Christie squirming to be front and center for a photo op with Haper at a bbq? WTF? Apparently her handlers are incapable of realizing he’s almost as unpopular out here in BC as she is? Jeezus what a bunch of incompetants.
[Translate]
I would argue that the PM is doing a much better job than the Dummy.
[Translate]
I’m pleased that you used the word ” argue”.
[Translate]
No argument that Harper is more popular than Christy, but then again, a rectal exam with a Catchers mitt would be more popular than Christy.
[Translate]
That’s funny! Love it! Spat out my afternoon espresso. But twas worth it!
[Translate]
Just a question: How can you comment on the quality of Sean Holman’s teaching when you have never sat in one of his classes? Where are the facts backing that statement. Just wondering.
[Translate]
I never said I was going to do that! I’m sure he’s a very fine lecturer.
[Translate]
Pretty much the same way people comment on the quality of your columns Dale. Some are good, some aren’t. Either way, you’ve combined what you learned in your journalism classes, with who you are as a person…it shows up on paper every week giving us a sense of who you are.
Sean’s qualities have always shone through in his words – agree with him or not…one doesn’t need to attend one of his classes to get a sense of the man himself.
[Translate]
Complete agreement. But you see, Dale is married to Alan, who actually teaches journalism at Thompson Rivers University. She’s part of that elitist class, the left in the media, who consider it offensive to have someone like me as a colleague. Well, OMG! Let me prepare in the appropriate manner of deference to bend down and kiss the hem of her robes. She doesn’t like my opinions?
Tough titty.
I write what I write and no has a bigger readership in this province–that tells you everything. I’m not here to be loved or hated. But NO ONE has a bigger readership, not even close. If she has a problem with that…
Again, tough titty. I couldn’t care less.
I’m here for the wonderful people of this great province to have a voice on whatever the matter of the day happens to be. It’s a public service. She gets paid to write–often times, pure drivel. I would hand back my cheques. When I was a columnist for Sun Media, TWICE, I donated my cheque to charity, when I felt wat I had written didn’t measure up. I’m my biggest critic.
She doesn’t believe I have the right to pass judgment on anything that suits my fancy to pass judgement on?
I say to her again, TOUGH TITTY.
[Translate]
And we all LOVE you for it, too many of these other Journalist are out to suck the corporate weenie, I have nothing but disdain for them.
[Translate]
judgment. not judgement. Just saying. And I have no problem with you doing what you do. We have a large freelance and blogging contingent in the CAJ. Pass judgment on whatever you want. Just allow others to ask questions, too. Seems fair to me. Come on up to Kamloops and let me also show you just how elitist I am — not. Judging requires fact-checking.
[Translate]
Typical. But your reputation precedes you…
If you’ll notice, since you’re such a tremendous journalist, I did indeed spell judgment correctly in the SAME LINE as the typo to fixated on.
Go away. Questions I don’t mind. It’s sanctimonious idiots I have a problem with.
[Translate]
Dale ‘s paper is referred to as Pravda This Week here in Kamloops. Don’t get me wrong, Dale has put out some good articles, but they seem to be in the minority. The rest are in line with the Pravda mentality of her paper.
[Translate]
I know. Any time I need more birdcage liner, I immediately think of Dale Bass.
[Translate]
Christie do not make an appearance this year at Gerry’s ranch. In fact none of the provincial politicos were in evidence unlike last year. Made for a very nice afternoon not having to tolerate dummy.

Yes, I was impressed. The Prime Minister’s people did everything they could to keep her away. And succeeded!
Dave Haver and Kevin Falcon. Were the ones there from the province.

ALEX,
Alison Redford was quoted today in the Financial Post in a headline.
“Alberta premier backs piping oil east.”
http://www.theguardian.pe.ca/Opinion/Editorials/2012-08-04/article-3045520/Let%26rsquos-bring-Alberta-oil-to-East-Coast/1
Not WEST? EAST?
Is this a totally different deal? Or has the Enbridge game changed that much since James Moore went on CKNW?
http://www.timescolonist.com/business/Senior+Tory+James+Moore+slams+Enbridge+casts+doubt+pipeline+plan/7039440/story.html
“Heritage Minister James Moore’s has blasted Enbridge’s environmental record, casting more doubt on whether the company will be able to build a pipeline from Alberta’s oil sands to the Pacific Coast.”
With BC currently home to 21 of the province’s 36 federal [conservative] seats; with the NDP resurgent in BC and Quebec; and even Bible Belt churches mounting opposition, it may be becoming obvious in Tory polls that too many Tory seats could be at risk, or lost, if this idiocy continues.
Is Redford actually calling Christy’s bluff? That would be catastrophic to Clark, not that being Clark isn’t catastrophe enough. Given no other option how could Clark respond other than with capitulation?
It may not be the case but it looks like end game has begun between Redford and Clark. As always, pls advise.

Vancouver Real Estate = Drug Money
The Cons stand a very good chance to have both the Lieberals and the Conservatives Persona non grata in BC for an eternity plus a day.
Borrowing money to go into business with the Communist Chinese, the same Communist Chinese that last week annexed the South China sea and declared war on Vietnam and the Philippians sending a threat to the United States to stay out of Asia.
The very same Communist Chinese that have declared extra territorial rights on mining operation in Africa, where now those “Free Economic Zones“ are under Communist Chinese territorial law.
Hate to break the news but those special interest groups that are pushing all the investment in Communist China Growth Opportunities are just scamming you.
China has the largest natural gas reserves in the world, enough to last for 300 years on consumption rates based on 2025 numbers. They are also pipeline distant from Siberia and other natural gas suppliers that have more capacity to provide natural gas at .50 cent per cubic meter, something BC and Canada never will be able to do.
As for the oil, Alberta is a better investment. Take the money and build a petrochemical industry there. Send China all the nylon, PVC pipes, and IPAD cases they want. It is better for Alberta a better investment for Canada, and a spill of nylon is a lot easier to clean up then an oil spill. Invest in the future not the past, and don`t do business with Communist enterprises that are only at the table to bankrupt you and over throw your democracy.
So Conservative Party Members, are you really going to sell out your ethics and values to support a communist dictatorship, and a local provincial despot. Or are you going to do what is right for Canada and your political future in British Colombia.
My advice invest in Alberta build the future there, put the jobs there, for Canadians and our national future, not the national future for a communist regime that feels entitled to annex foreign nations territory and make slave labor an economic competitive advantage.
Our jobs, our future our nation, Canada and Canadians first.

I am still not clear about something: Does Enbridge OWN the oil they intend to pump or do they get paid by pumping the oil THROUGH their metered pipeline.
In which case it would be more lucrative to build a longer EASTERN pipeline and pump it to OUR existing refineries in Ontario! At the same time eliminating the need for eastern provinces to import expensive Venezuelan oil!
And if Alberta is getting paid no matter where the oil goes, then why not favour the Canadian Connection instead of the Chinese?

All good hypotheticals.
On the issue of Enbridge, my understanding is that they are not owners of the oil.
