Warren Kinsella Schools the British Columbia Media on How to Cover Their Friend Premier Christy Clark

169

And he does it from Calgary, no less.

Warren Kinsella, my friend and former Sun Media colleague has written what is, this far, the ultimate piece on Premier Christy Clark.

Essentially, from outside the province, he schools the BC MSM with a surgeon’s accuracy.

Clark, according to Warren, isn’t even capable of faking phoniness. OUCH! If there was ever a slap in the face, it was this.

Warren–a federal Liberal, described himself, during the BC Liberal leadership run as, “a friend of Christy’s.” If this is a case of love lost, fine, I understand, but if he’s still considering himself a friend, I strongly suggest he let me edit his Christmas card list.

There’s at least one name he can cross off.

Truly, Warren has skewered Clark as no has, ahem, except for yours truly. She has earned this in spades. Both Gary Mason and Mike Smyth have come close, but Warren’s piece was a refreshing change to the on-again/off-again (Non) Goodness on NW or Baldrey snoregasms on Global: A run of seemingly critical stories to be “balanced” with fluff about Clark’s “tenacity.”

What tenacity?! I almost fell out of my chair when I heard Keith say this recently. The rest of the room was laughing.

She’s dropping faster than a trollop’s garters, and you’ve STILL got members of the Victoria Press Gallery soft-peddling the Premier’s pathetic, incompetent performance since being ‘elected’. Sean Leslie’s weekend shows have turned into hours-long ads for the BC Liberals. Is it his wife’s contract working PR for the government that he can’t get past, or is he unable to grasp the obvious?

Christy Clark is done.

How much further does Clark need to drop for the BC MSM to awaken to this reality? She’s toast.

It’s a guaranteed BC NDP government. Dianne Watts isn’t moving from Surrey and Carole Taylor rather likes the red velvet at SFU. Who wouldn’t?

The only dignity left for any of the BC Liberal caucus, is to push Clark out and install someone that won’t decimate the party–unless, of course, that’s the plan.

As it stands, under Christy Clark, the BC Liberals will win, MAYBE, six seats. MAYBE.

Most of the ridings are inside the 20% differential–well inside. Therefore, the BC Conservatives are no longer a factor. It’s simple maths. Women have left her, as have the upwardly mobile. In droves.

Christy Clark will deliver the most crushing defeat all on her own, and if allowed to stay, will do irreparable damage to this province. Just watch. We’re still trying to deal with her insane war against teachers–THAT, began a decade ago! Is this not warning enough of the damage this ignorant dimbell is capable of???

CLBC Executives get no bonuses, but a raise instead? Really??? Do you fools in BC Liberal caucus not see the damage being done? Are you all that blind!? FOR SHAME! GET RID OF HER–NOW!

Here is Warren’s exceptional piece.

So we’ve got an inter-provincially recognised idiot at the helm. One may rationally expect that she will gain wide, international notoriety by the end of the term of this kleptocracy. It’s quite a dubious hallmark of this beautiful province and its hardworking people.

Regarding CLBC, why is this government afraid to tear up a contract when throughout the past three terms they have stampeded over several other contracts?

    Hear ! Hear ! Well said !

These Lieberals will end up padding their pensions by running for municipal or federal positions, as this seems to be the modus operandi for these Type A’s. We need Legislation that makes limits to how much pension ANY politician can collect.
It’s just not right that these thieves can jump from one to the other, fool the populace, and then collect 3 or more gold plated pensions all paid for by taxpayers. Unbelievable the thievery!!!
And that includes Port Moody newby NDP Joe Trasolini also, even though he was good mayor. How come he’s not bitching about Port Moody anymore to Translink. Drank the koolaid already I guess.
    Earn your money Trasolini !!!!!

Please note, below is copied from a comment above, and Alex’s response:

If this government is as corrupt as everyone here claims, and I believe it is, where are the people who can and should effectively do something about it?

    Where is law enforcement?
    Where is the judiciary?
Where is the media and, where is the opposition for God’s sake?

    Are they all complicit?

The NDP should not simply be sitting back waiting to be elected by default. No, they should be at it every day, pounding, pounding and pounding some more. Are they waiting to play the same game with us?

I would love to see an NDP nonconfidence motion just to see how many Libs would show up and raise their hands in support of this shamelessness..

I actually suggested h very same thing to a friend on the NDP side.

They should do it and put these bastards on record as supporting such corruption.

    – end of comments from above.

    My comment –

The BC Libs have become so competent at twisting anything the NDP does and says, and by the way, with the greatest of support from the lower mainland media as we know, that they know to tread lightly on making waves. They know, with the media’s help, that whatever they do, it will all be twisted to somehow make the BC Libs look like the good guys, and somehow NDP are stuck in the dismal 90′s, anti-business, pro-unions and all the other stuff … hello I’ve heard all of this said and done in the media – don’t forget, many people don’t watch the Leg channel and they get their main news from TV, tradio, NW etc. They don’t get a wide perspective on many political issues, but they vote nevertheless, so be a little easier on the NDP, – you know the expression – you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t – the NDP in the province somewhat fit into this. Sorry, but if the media was impartial, and fair and square with all the parties, I’d say ‘let ‘em have it (the NDP) just like anyone else, but when you start out half the time with two strikes against you, thanks to the MSM you do tend to tread lightly.

With the Dix skystrain ticket lost and the comments above, I’m not saying I was totally on side with Dix on this one, but it didn’t need to drag out for weeks in the media as compared to the present CLBC story which will most likely disappear in a day or two.

  8. Brian Kieran's Diary says:

Just watched The Dummy’s latest blubber fest involving CLBC compensation on the Global 6 o’clock newscast.

She insists absolutely nothing has changed in terms of their compensation packages (yeah right).

The best part is when they came back to Chris Gailus, he did this “holy shit is this idiot dense” eyeroll. He might well have said out loud “what a f*cking idiot”.

    • nonconfidencevote says:

Its a shame he didnt say that.
Their ratings would go through the roof.

Kinda reminds me of the comment spoken by former US President Lyndon Johnson when he watched Harvey Cronkite’s extremely critical editiorial about the Vietnam War on the evening 6 o’clock news,
Harvey Cronkite, the most trusted news man in America at that time
( and highly respected right up until his death)

Johnson’s shocked comment after watching the tv editorial…,

“We’ve lost Harvey…..We’ve lost this war.”

Johnson was many things but despite his failings (and there were many) deep down he knew how to read the publics’ opinion and he was right. The war was lost..in America…years before they left Vietnam.

So, When lead news anchors are rolling their eyes at the Preems’ explanations.

She’s screwed……..and all the narcisstic mirror gazing wont fix that.

  9. Jm says:

“they arent making any more money” “they arent bonuses, they are holdbacks”

    WTF!?
This sounds like the dealership telling me my new car was 0% interest. But you get $5000.00 in rebates if you pay cash.
“So its $5000.00 interest then correct?”
    “No, its 0%”

    Aaargh!
(need a beating head on wall emoticon)

It sucks that these people will get even more money, but on the plus side its pretty satisfying to watch Christy Clark herself hammer the last few nails in the coffin of her run as premier. And i’m happy to see she plans to take them all down with her.
    Cant happen soon enough.

  10. mrj222 says:

Okay guys, ya know its not a bonus/raise they just get more money now than they did before ya know?

so like ya know its okay you don’t ya know have to be mad. Ya know just because you don’t understand how its not a raise/bonus doesnt mean ya know its a raise. ya know?

  11. Botticelli says:

Shirley (helmet head) Bond makes me sick. I’ve been ridiing a motorcyle for forty five years and have now hung up my spurs and sold my Harley because of that ugly bitch.
The mushroom helmet legislation is nothing but more payback to the MC dealers this time by forcing riders to buy new helmets that limit your vision and hearing the two tools riders most need to have.
Perhaps she also wanted all riders to have heads resembling her own.
They first gave payback to the car dealers by imposing the additional HST on private sale cars forcing people to trade rather than sell and now more gifts to the other folks that donate to them.
    The “top cop” indeed?

    • Zoot says:

more like “top flop”, next to the Dummy herself.

    • gregory says:

I cant comment on the motorcycle issue but I am totally onside with the HST on private sales of automobiles and Gordo should have done it years ago.

There is no reason why someone selling their car on Craigslist should be able to sell it tax free when an auto dealer who is paying taxes, employing workers and contributing to the economy in many ways has to be at a disadvantage. Never sounded fair to me and regardless of which government levelled the playing field I was on board with it.

If a dealership goes broke due to low sales in a tough economy people lose their jobs and the economy suffers. If the guy on Craigslist has a tough time selling with the tax he will just lower his price and it will be sold a week longer than he expected.

      • Seymour Forest says:

Agree with you there. A sale is a sale, and the seller doesn’t have to collect. It would be embeded in the tranfer of sale that ends up at Icky Bicky. Some will try a “reduction” but it still should be paid.

Heck I wouldn’t buy from Craigslist unless I was able to go through a thorough inspection and a half hour check out drive. (an around the block donut isn’t going to show much of anything).

I’ve bought used from “A” level new dealerships and “B” level established resellers (the ones with the better high quality used vehicles, the first picks of the dealer auctions, not the low end junk yards that you see that pass off as used car dealerships, but never bought below that.

        • G. Barry Stewart says:

          “A sale is a sale.”

What’s magical about a $1,000 Tercel being sold privately… as opposed to a used top-end mountain bike being sold privately for $3,000? The Tercel could be resold every day of the year — and drum up over $40,000 in taxes. The bike would never raise a cent in tax on resale. It was all paid at the first retail sale.

If a sale is a sale, I say tax every bank transaction so the government will get a hit on every garage sale, lemonade stand, drug deal and Girl Guide cookie.

Seriously: make it 0.5% on every bank transaction. Write a cheque for $100… the government gets 50¢. Hell — the banks know how to do it.

          • gregory says:

If we really want to go back in time the fact the GST was charged on used car sales was one of the biggest government scams ever.

The GST was originally introduced as a replacement for the old manufactures tax which was an underlying tax on new items including cars. As it it was charged on new units it would only be paid once. In comes the GST and it was applied to new and used cars. It should never have been charged on used vehicles as that original GST tax was already paid by the guy who bought the new car.

Just another example of Canadian’s history of accepting taxes without complaining. Hopefully the HST revolt in BC will actually be a new wave of not accepting the gouging from government.

            • Seymour Forest says:

The magic is as to why anyone would want to buy a $1000 Tercel.

Reminds me of the original Datsun 510 and Honda Civics when you bought one new. You bought one, used it for two years and then threw it away.

A Volkwagen Beetle or a VW Bus? You bought it for your wife when the kids were 7, and kept it so that you could give it to your kid when he or she was 17 as a gift.

As for the GST, that is correct. In fact one particular MP from BC was made a Conservative Senator so that the GST would pass through the Senate.

The other premise of the GST was that it was also put in and the conept was that it would remain until the budget (1989 or so) was balanced and then the GST would be taken off. It wasn’t.

The federal Liberals distinctly and clearly promised they would get rid of it in 1993′s federal election, but didn’t.

    • Seymour Forest says:

Not bad, but I rode myself 10 years and hope to do so again and never ever had a problem with an open face helmet in peripheral vision. I’d rather protect my own helmet with a helmet than have the noggin’ scraping rough pavement, and then later on realising I can think inside, but can’t get those thoughts outside coherently.

and no way would I ever want my insurance to go up because someone else figures those tin plate head caps are adequate protection from a head scrape on a highway at 80 km/h. The truth is,
they aren’t. A person will smoke his scalp quickly wearin one of those things while sniffin the asphalt at 80 km/h (although the sparks from it would be spectacular.

What wouldn’t be is wakin’ up realising you’re trapped inside your own body.

Call me a wimp, and not “in the moto-culture”, but to me riding a bike was recreation and I still wanted to be able to get to the office Monday morning without any head injuries. Why?

For next weekend and next summer of course! Ya work for the ride, babe.

        Oh well…

        • Seymour Forest says:

Agree with ya bud. Have a few friends that gave me a real bad version of “The Look” when I exclaimed not long ago that “shit, I sure wish I could ride a Honda Goldwing on the highway again. The sun, the open road, the rhythmic purr of the engine.”

    Alex

This is a bit on and off topic….wait for it…

I have just returned tonight from a charity golf tournament put on by one of the largest real estate organizations on earth……and I heard something that struck me as being somewhat profound.

Collectively their suppliers and customers are gathered annually, by invitation, in order to raise funds (in tonight’s case) for the BC Cancer Foundation.

After a gut wrenching speech from an employee of theirs that has survived cancer…the manager of the local office took to the microphone and said this….

….”We are all capitalists here…….with a heart….and we need to be helpful”.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could elect a government for this beautiful province that has a similar goal?

A sort of lead by example….kind of approach..

  15. Jay Cobb says:

It’s painfully obvious everything Clark touches turns into a disaster. Clark appointed Cadieux after firing her previous appointment to the same portfolio. We have an unelected fool for a premier, yet no one in caucus has the backbone to lead a revolt.

It seems members of cabinet are spending time preparing themselves and their friends for a loss of job at the next election. Coleman is apparently preparing for a federal senate position; Abbott and Falcon want no part of another Clark led debacle and so have decided not to run; senior bureaucrats’ saleries (e.g. CLBC) are being anchored so that reversals by the NDP will be costly and harmful to taxpayers.

If ever a reason for a recall was needed, it would be to remove this bumbling fool from office. Any parallels to the fool at the helm of the ill fated Costa Concordia?

    • Hopeful Citizen says:

Wow! That’s funny. Such righteous indignation from the Times Colonist reporter as if this was the first time that they have been spun or duped?!?! It’s been about twelve years of collusion and cover up. Why so shocked now???
