EXCLUSIVE ‘BREAKING NEWS’: Judged “Terrorist” and Convicted Gunman Invited by Premier Clark’s People to Attend Budget Speech was a Top-Ranking Indo Lieutenant of the Christy Clark Leadership Team

127

You just can’t make this stuff up…I am continually amazed by the shamelessness and stupidity of the Christy Clark team.

To all those who pilloried me during the campaign when I told you that the Clark team had cut deals with ANYONE in the Indo-Canadian Community to deliver her the Premier’s mantle, read and weep.

While you and I were waiting to listen to the latest on how impoverished the BC government’s budget remains, guess who was sitting in a the public gallery while the legislature was a in total lockdown?

His name is Jaspal Singh Atwal, who, as noted by Kim Bolan of the Vancouver Sun, “was convicted of attempted murder for shooting a visiting Punjabi Cabinet Minister in 1986.”

In 1987, Mr. Atwal and three other accomplices were convicted in BC Supreme Court of trying to murder Malkiat Singh Sidhu–a visiting Punjabi government official with an unimpeachable record, on a lonely stretch of road on Vancouver Island. Mr. Sidhu was shot twice but survived his injuries, while the three accused were subsequently convicted and sentenced to 20 years each. During a parole hearing, Mr. Atwal confessed to being the shooter.

The Campbell River judge at that time, referred to it as “an act or terrorism.”

Now, when Kim broke her story earlier, I did some digging after, as per usual, one of Premier Clark’s operatives tried to spin the story.

Shane Mills, her Director of Communications, tried everything he could to message his boss out of this mess, but it’s about to get worse…

Jaspal Singh Atwal wasn’t just a guest of the Premier’s for the budget speech. He’s not some junior waterboy from the Fraser Valley fields where instant members are made. Mr. Atwal was a high-ranking lieutenant of the Clark leadership campaign and remains an influential Christy Clark supporter from Surrey.

He’s a Christy Clark bigshot.

Yet, the Premier claims she’s “shocked” he got a ticket. Really Christy? But you weren’t “shocked” when he was a notable Indo-Canadian campaign worker of your leadership bid? You weren’t “shocked” when he was putting massive membership rolls together for you to win the leadership? You weren’t “shocked” Premier, when he was bringing money in the door for you? But now you’re shocked, are you?

What a shameless fool this woman is! How can BC Liberal caucus members continue to allow this unqualified, despicable, UNETHICAL person to disgrace the Office of the Premier?

I’m told by absolutely appalled former Clark supporters that Mr. Atwal wasn’t just an eager, influential campaigner, but he was instrumental in putting together those Clark memberships, in astronomical numbers, and in delivering key major contributions to the Clark campaign.

Mr. Atwal was in attendance on budget day as a guest of the Stephanie Cadieux constituency association (they arranged for his ticket after the Premier’s handlers approved him), whose leader, Tariq Guman, was also in attendance. Interesting, as Minister Cadieux was a supporter of Kevin Falcon and she now also claims to be “shocked,” I called for comment from Minister Cadieux but I gather she’s on her way to a scheduled caucus meeting where some of my caucus and government readers should turn off their Blackberry volumes so that Tony Bennett doesn’t start wafting through the room. But do any of you have the moral fibre to call the Premier on the mat for this? What about Minister Cadieux?

This is an exceedingly serious matter.

What does the Premier know of this man Atwal?  Did she promise him anything? Did anyone of her people do so? He’s apparently EXTREMELY upset that he did all the work and others are receiving prominent board appointments by the Clark government. So, he must have been promised something.

Her communications people can try to play this one as a minor incident, but it’s not. He is well-known to her and to them. Shane Mills claims that he didn’t know Mr. Atwal’s background. Minister Cadieux repeats to Kim Bolan that she’s “shocked.”

Bollocks!

This is precisely why the exodus from the BC Liberal Party will continue. This is a corrupt government led by a woman who will say anything and do anything to rip power from the hands of the people and deliver it to her friends and insiders. Who are the Indo Canadians that received plum positions with this government as a result of Mr. Atwal’s hard work on behalf of the Premier?????

And guess who woke up and started quick hit messaging after I beat them up about it a few weeks ago?

If the media let go of this story, they should be truly ashamed. I’ll be doing more digging and get back to you. I also spoke to Kim Bolan earlier and she’s digging as well.

Stay tuned!!!

  1. harry lawson says:

    great column alex.

this is sad and yet not all that shocking

this goverment has always thought it is above the law, so having a convicted terrorist support is not so shocking.

once again crispy has chosen to lie and blame others

how ever what is more shocking is that the bc conservatives has posted the story on their web site so shocking

  2. Bob says:

I’m not sure why this shocks anyone. Frankly, I’m surprised he isn’t on the payroll as a ministerial assistant.

A classic example of why we can never become complacent about terrorism and subversion in this country and how one of their tactics is infiltrating governments and the political process in order to influence domestic and foreign policy. Great scoop by Kim Bolan and I can’t wait to sse what else you dig up on this.

  3. Denis says:

Watching question Period as Ms. Photo Ops tries to be cute and deflect questions by Adrian Dix is almost sad. The woman is presently the premier, but most stuff goes by, over her head.I wouldn’t be surprised if she invited a bunch of Hells Angels to sit as guests

    • AGT says:

Um, forgive me, but if she invited the Hells Angels, that would be a significant step up and a sure privilege for someone like her.

But it would be an insult to them…

  4. bubbles says:

How low can Christy go…..She keeps building bigger submarines! I can’t wait for the torpedo to put an end this disaster. Great post.

  5. ∞² says:

Hmmm. Why am I not surprised?

  6. Cam says:

And we are to be shocked by this behavior on Krusty’s part? I think not! She is a (AGT:EDITED) of high order, nothing more!

I want to see her and Gordon Campbell in adjoining cells where they belong.

I will vote for any party that will promise a full forensic investigation into the BC Rail crime.

  7. natomah says:

Do you think that the MSM will do thier job and follow this up?

    Just wondering.

  8. Kelln says:

Just when you think the bottom is close, the pit continues.

  9. lola says:

Another day another scandle,i honestly do not know how these liberal mla’s can face their familys without shame. Why can’t even one say enough is enough and walk away , I would be so embarrassed and ashamed of myself. I guess Campbell’s sleaziness has rubbed off on them, or maybe they are just natureally shameless. I hope when they get old and feeble they will feel guilty for backing the most corrupt govt in bc’s history, they are truely disgusting.

    • AGT says:

If they do not move now, then they’re crazy and I’ll owe White Rock J and apology–which I’ll happily extend!

This is soooo bad. Snooki is meat on this one. Atwal was one of her CHIEF Indo strategists in Surrey. The guy earned right to complain! She let him in there. Now pay the price.

      • Chris says:

You know, that really is the key here Lola! How do they face their families? Surely they can’t be so blind as to not read a newspaper or watch a news cast? Ha, but then again, if they did they certainly wouldn’t hear or read a discouraging word. All’s good on the SS Liberal ship thanks to the MSM mandarins.

  10. Bruce W says:

Good one Alex. Keep digging – the hole for Snooki and crowd is getting deeper by the hour. They may need it to dispose of all the bodies after the dust settles.
If the Lamestream Media awake from their slumbers, they might find this of “passing” interest. The people of BC should be outraged.

    • AGT says:

This is the most outrageous thing Clark has done thus far. It speaks to the very nature of how she got elected leader and Premier and what she promised to get there.

Atwal is apparently supremely pissed off with her people for leaving him out of all sorts of appointments and patronage plums. Imagine the stones on this guy! After being convicted of attempted MURDER, he expects political payback from someone unethical enough to use his talents and resources!

Can’t say I blame him on the latter part of that line of thinking….

      • Seymour Forest says:

So Atwal is pissed off with Christy’s people beause he’s been left out of appointments and plums.

Um well Atwal… welcome to the real world of politics, son.

It’s a tough business. It’s not for everyone,

Real volunteers are out there toiling away in riding associations,
campaigns, being there when the MLA or candidate needs them.

Hand out the hot dogs on a sunny day, and hand off the uprooted
signs on a cold rainy wet evening.

Very little if any (assuming that it exists) recognition for the efforts.

Many wish for and deserve those coveted posts, some who deserve don’t, wish for those and many that do wish for those simply give up the idea and just keep moving along as best they can.

and you Atwal just simply figure you can walk up to the volunteer line and bypass all of those people with the idea of being able to just pick out an appointment like someone going into a library and finding a
book they were looking for and bringing it to the check out desk and taking it home?

        Guess again

Atwal, the line starts way way way back there, son.

It will be a very long wait. Might as well bring a lawn chair and an umbrella.

and even then there’s no guarantee.

Might as well forget the idea. You’ll have better luck landing a job making up the fries at McDonalds.

  11. Jay says:

Maybe he was promised a railway or something. Maybe not, it’s already gone.

  12. frustrated says:

Well golly gee whiz, nothin suprises me anymore! Good work Alex.

  13. WHITEROCKJ says:

    ROFL!!!

christy/liberal logic on full display…. its only criminal / immoral if you get caught.

    once again thank you alex.

    • AGT says:

With pleasure. She’s really done it this time. How can she possibly claim this man Atwal was an unknown and that she’s “shocked.”

Total bullshit. He worked his ass off for her. I don’t care what he did or if he paid enough of a penalty to society for his crimes in this country–that’s between him and the law–what’s relevant, and what I DO care about it that for all those obvious reasons you wouldn’t have someone like Atwal as part of your campaign, Clark not only embraced him, she had him on as a lead. She and her team used him and then promoted people around him in the Indo Community to plum patronage spots. Who can blame the man for feeling used?

This is a guy who should have never had ANYTHING to do with a legit campaign–and Christy knows it. But once again, doesn’t care.

All you dimwitted BC Liberal supporters remember that…

      • Seymour Forest says:

Well this dimwitted BC Liberal supporter will.

That is assuming that I still remain a dimwitted BC Liberal supporter.

I just might keep the dimwitted part, and throw away the BC Liberal supporter part.

Or I could throw away the dimwitted part and keep the BC Liberal supporter part.

        Nahh, that wouldn’t work.

        Being dimwitted is more fun.

  14. Froth says:

So Mr. Atwal is a purveyor of voters. He delivers bulk race-based votes to the highest bidder and then reaps his rewards down the line.

What does this make the buyer?

  15. Bruce says:

Alex, the mans colour or his race doesn’t matter to me but the fact he was convicted of attempted murder does. What kind of people has that stupid woman got herself connected with, and how many more lowlifes has she hiding. She has got to go and the sooner the better for this province. Maybe her brother Bruce Vetted him. What a F##king mess!!! Cheers

    • AGT says:

Thank you, and I like your comment, except that you should bloody well care about what race he is.

He is a part of a sect in the Indo Canadian community that dishonours their proud heritage. These are the “members for hire.” As long as they get patronage plums, they’ll sign up members for anyone!

You should care because this is the Liberal Party of Canada method that Mark Marissen and Christy Clark employed to make Paul Martin Prime Minister–and in the process, destroyed the party.

You should care because it’s dishonesty at its finest and it runs rampant through the Indo Canadian Community in BC.

Ever hear about Adrian Dix’s mass sign ups? Well, they weren’t done by quite those kinds of characters, but by the same community without a shred of shame–money after memberships and complicity by Jan O’Brien, BC NDP Secretary, Vision Clowncillor, and Dix supporter Geoff Meggs’ wife.

      You should damn well care.

Because if we don’t call them out and stop them now, this province and country are doomed.

      • Bob says:

Brass balls for saying so, Alex.

You’re only the second man I’ve described in those terms. The other was a boss from the job.

Like him, you stood up and did the right thing when it really counted.

        • AGT says:

Yeah, and for my troubles and honesty the gun locks are all off.

That’s a lot of “all off”. LMAO!

Did I ever tell you about my perfect score in the ten ring from 250 yards? That was August, last year. Not one on out or even on the line. You know who was impressed. And he’s never impressed with anything I do at the range–because it’s better than his score!!! LOL!

Let’s talk about that tomorrow night. 8-)

  16. Hopeful Citizen says:

Thank goodness Christy takes heli-jets and limos, far too many supporters are being thrown under the bus! I’ll keep reading here as I don’t think reporters from The Vancouver Sun are allowed to write the truth.

  17. Larry Bennett, Burnaby says:

My very favourite Tony Bennett number? I Wanna Be Around, (to pick up the pieces….)

  18. Observer says:

This time the Conservatives hit back hard and where it hurts. Their news release has circulated on Face Book since the wee hours this morning and, I suspect, the MSM had no choice but to ride this horse. I’m still curious, however, how much abuse the population of this province can sustain without an open revolt. Kevin Falcon, BTW, was peddling on TV his “prudent and fiscally responsible” budget pointing his finger to European “irresponsible” fiscal and monetary management”. How dares he in light of the fact that the kleptocracy he is a member of keeps robbing this province blind for more than 10 years and selling crown assets to their cronies for fire-sale prices. Someone should end up in an orange jump-suit.

    • AGT says:

The Conservatives did a wonder job on this one. Super stuff. It’s about time.

      As for Kevin…no comment.

      • Larry Bennett, Burnaby says:

And just an aside to the other Conservative Party; we thought it a bit typically anti-American smear when the Liberal, Bob Rae described the assumed electoral wrongdoings (Robocon) as “Nixonian”, when the adjective “Chretienesque” was so much more handier and closer to the truth, especially when he had to stand up and apologize for their own dirty election shenanigans in the “Vikileaks” furor. God, never a dull moment in either level of our legislatures.

        • AGT says:

Yes, true enough. But the Prime Minister, in my view, has an obligation to get up of his duff and assure the people of the country of three things: 1) That the NO member of parliament on the government side had any knowledge or was involved. 2) That ANYONE caught lying about it will be kicked out of parliament and by1election immediately called. And finally, 3) That ANY party member, regardless of how junior, found to have participated in such despicable acts, will be banned from the Conservative Party of Canada for life and along with any accomplices or supporters.

Until Mr. Harper locates the decency to do that, this will linger like a festering sore. And it will grow if he doesn’t do his job and LEAD. That’s what leaders do.

Anyway, let’s get back to the topic at hand. Thanks.

  19. Derek says:

Some time back I wrote on this blog about about my perception of untruthfulness on the part of some members of the Indo-Canadian Community, with a comment that you might not publish my statement. Your very fair comment back was that some members of that community bring their habits of deceit from their homelands and never let them go here.

My finest friend, who I have also mentioned on this blog is from Iran. There too, lies are part of the way of just getting through life for many, especially the working class of whom his family is a part. When I first met him we discussed this. He said “Oh Yes. I know how to lie, and get away with it. But I’m thankful that I don’t have to do that here, where Government, Police and all in authority are honest and above board”.

How disappointed he is with what he’s learning about our ways of governing. How disappointed with how we treat him because he has black hair and a brown skin. Yet he’s left his capability of lying in his former Country.

He’s disgusted and amazed with the Premier’s performance, and compares it to the corruption he dealt with at home. At least here, no one dies, no one is tortured and no one goes to prison for their comments or ideas.

Christy should have respect for people like him as well as the rest of us and resign.

Instead she emulates the leaders of Countries like Iran with her dishonesty.

Perhaps she has some teachers within ethnic communities here.

  20. Seymour Forest says:

Not sure, but isn’t this Tariq guy the newly minted Regional Director for the Surrey / Valley area? I heard his name being bandied about a few months ago.

If so, I wonder what his political background is? Or is Christy giving those positions out in specially marked boxes of Christy Crunch cereal?

    • AGT says:

Yup, that’s him. He was sitting with Atwal in the gallery during the lockdown on budget day.

And Tariq Guman was, or may be still, the President of Stephanie Cadieux’s constituency association board.

      Nice and cozy, eh?

  21. Doctor J says:

It just keeps getting more and more amazing – and what ever could top this one? Surely this cannot continue much longer – she’s more disgraced now than Zalm ever was. And her budget and Bills are disgusting too. She ostensibly cheated to win and now she’s cheating to cling to power. Has anyone thought of complaining to the police? And BTW what did PK know about this and when did he know it? Did he have no inkling?

    • AGT says:

      Good questions, Sir. Good questions…

      • nonconfidencevote says:

The big difference between The Zalm and Christy is the Main Stream Media are going out of their way to ignore or kill these AGT stories. the “rot” isnt just in the legislature……..

But they jump all over the VPD “porn gate” ????
Their priorities in delivering the news are bought and paid for through advertising. apparently the VPD advertising budget isnt big enough. Note to Chief Chu, budget more cash next year for CKNW

  22. 212Degrees says:

It should be more then interesting on Friday to see how Good and company will deal with and spin this latest trip into the dark side by Clark. My guess is it will be brought up as a non event and dealt with as a side issue but not worthy of discussion. Such is the nature of how issues that are of fundamental importance to our way of life and governance are dealt with by the MSM.

    • AGT says:

Look, any story broken by me will NEVER AGAIN be credited by Good, Palmer and Baldrey.

      Ever.

It would require uncommon courage and integrity. Keith disappoints me, Bill doesn’t surprise me but Vaughn really hurts me.

Ever since I told him, I heard both his ‘Basi-Virk’ dogtrack and Keith’s, I’m persona non grata.

It’s like he thinks I’ll release it. Which I would never do. But to not credit me for stories is cheap. Very thin gruel. Not a reflection on me, let me tell you.

      • Bob says:

Their neglect of duty appears matched by many of their mainstream counterparts. This is a story which should be on the front page of every newspaper from here to Newfoundland, particularly with the additional details you unearthed about Atwal’s connections to the Liberals and especially his position on Christy’s campaign.

I just checked and it seems the only ones carrying the story are The Sun, Canada.com, Huffington Post, Victoria Times-Colonist, National Post (which just reprinted Kim’s piece), and surprisingly, CTV.

        Global? CKNW? The Province? CKWX?

        You guys on the air?

        Beneath disgraceful.

        • AGT says:

Bill Good was covering the angle that only matter at hand was that Mr. Atwal was an invited guest. No! The issue is what’s a guy with a record like that doing operating as an organizer for a campaign which installed Christy Clark as Premier–AND WHO BROUGHT HIM ABOARD???

This is the Paul Martin campaign all over again. This is how they operated back then.

  23. D.G.B. says:

Aw shucks ….I was waiting for the tape recorder to self destruct.
Now Mr. Atwal, we’ll now have to disavow any knowledge of your actions.

  24. Swampy says:

What will it take for the few honest liberal MLA’s that are left in the legislator to walk and sit as independents? Better yet, resign in complete & utter disgust. Will MLA Cadieux do the proper and honorable thing and resign? No baffle gab or double speak in trying to spin the story. Just apologise, admit you made a gross error in judgement, take the heat and resign. Yes, it’s political suicide as she would probably not regain her seat in the next election. Her chances before this were slim to none anyways. However, she just might be able to hold her head above the stench as she leaves.

Alex, it seems that at least several times a week you bring up new points on how corrupt this Government is. I know I keep harping on this, but with all that’s going on, how can they continue to govern? The deals done and the policy implemented by this gang of thieves and liars are all tainted by the lack of credibility this government has.

We know since the Campbell days the power has been kept and consolidated at the top. How do we know what level of corruption has been behind each deal, or new policy they have come out with? Have we already sold our souls in provincial politics to race based voting? Who else with a criminal background or connections has Snooki brought into the fold?

We have watch dogs like the OPCC & Pivot that watch the Police in this Province. Professional groups such as Lawyers, Accountants and others, have associations that deal with their bad apples. Besides voting this gang out in the next election, we have little recourse other than recall legislation. The MSM has been asleep at the switch for the last decade or so. There are only a few like yourself that have been keeping their feet in the fire. I can only hope this group of liberal scoundrels will find their job prospects in private life very menial, demeaning and low paying. How low do we have to go before the people of this province really get to the boiling point?

    • AGT says:

Great comment. Very good question right at the end. I don’t know. If I were sitting as a BC Liberal MLA, I would instantly resign and sit as an independent. This is not a Premier worthy of support. Pure and simple.

      • Ron says:

Hey Swampy, there are NO honest politicians in this gov’t, as evidenced by no-one leaving while the biggest thefts ever (and are still on-going re: LDB privitization, smart meters, theft of funds from ICBC+Hydro) were perpetrated by this gov’t.
Their hands are all dirty and should all be tossed without ANY PENSION monies paid !!!!!

        • Ron says:

Forgot to mention Rich Coleman giving his brother, who is a CEO in Western Forest Products, the change in land use from logging to development over on the island which allowed WFP to build a resort and million dollar houses to sell.
The fact that the project is a hard sell by no means negates the underhanded, dirty slime-ball giveaway in the millions to his brother’s company.
I wonder how much of a bonus brother Coleman got the year that deal was done.
Sleazy Coleman, doing his normal day of thievery, like he has for the last 10 years or so.
Is there a reason no cops would look at the crimes because Coleman is a former cop?
          Absolutely disgusting.

    • AGT says:

Yes, I saw Vaughn’s piece and liked it very much.

On the issue of the second link, which is archived footage from the legislature, I have a few observations:

      1) Dix’s deft handling of off-the-cuff issues is so smooth, he’ll kill her in a debate. That’s a very tough skill to perfect in a debate and if he can use it effectively, he’ll make sushi of Cummins and Clark during the election.
      2) Dix’s ability to remain calm and at purpose, is remarkable. A very good practice in the legislature, to be sure.
      3) Bill Barisoff is a disgrace as Speaker. The Premier, thrice, ran off topic and went way too far on the BCTF issue. She never even came close to answering Dix’s question. Barisoff has the obligation, under George Demeter’s Rules of Parliamentary Law and Robert Rules of Order, to reign in a speaker, particularly as it pertains to answering a specific question. He didn’t, and that’s wrong.
      4) Clark is truly, without question, a tragic figure. I felt sorry for her, flopping all over the place. It was painful to watch.
      5) Clark’s awkward use of the word ‘temerity’ was almost comical.

  25. Mea says:

Alex, Christy comes from the bottom of the barrel of politicians; that is, she’s the former head of THE most corrupt ministry bar none. As head of MCFD, she would also have known what a creepy, corrupt, duplicitous gang of bullies and family destroyers she was on charge of. Every once in a while we get a small glimpse – via, say, the Communist Broadcasting Corporation – of what this gang is capable of – in the name of “child protection”. The CBC recently aired a program on the Fifth Estate concerning the false allegations of Shaken Baby Syndrome which that Bayne family were subject to. For 4 long years MCFD tortured this family, refusing to return their children – even though – as communication from the MCFD lawyer (disclosed through a FOI request) revealed, they had no case.

Alex, if people had any idea what really goes on at MCFD – how they steal children from parents who are too poor to get a half decent lawyer, then shuffle them around in foster “care” and then spit them out on the street where they become addicts, homeless, suicidal, etc., – people would think Christy had actually become MORE moral, compared to her previous self as MCFD leader.

If you want to see just how disgustingly corrupt this province is, examine it’s most corrupt gang – MCFD – the gang with the big budget, the gang with the most deceptive PR, the gang with no accountability, the gang that has the average Joe conned into believing that if they only had more laws, power and social workers, families and society would be so much better off. Nothing, absolutely nothing, that a former CPS head dies in terms of corruption would ever surprise me (see also the recent news item on the “highly respected” Bill Lee – former head of Metis Family Services, now charged with Buggery of a 6 year old).

Please do an in-depth investigation of MCFD – you could start by checking out Bruce McNeill head of Fraser Region MCFD, responsible for much grief, most recently to Derek Hoare and his MCFD-kidnapped autistic daughter, Ayn, who was stolen from her good and loving dad, June 16, 2011, pumped full of toxic anti-pyschotics (to shut her up), thrown into an institution – where, according to MCFD – she cried for days on end, then dumped into a foster house where she escaped twice, once being found walking naked down main street.

The level of inhumanity in this Ministry – which Christy used to head – is shocking.

    • AGT says:

I had the privilege of speaking to Mr. Hoare and his story is heart-breaking.

It’s my fault, and I apologize, for not doing the piece that he has earned in spades–our tax dollars were used to destroy the Hoare family, and that makes me sick to my stomach. His daughter clearly belongs with him.

I will make a note of it and perhaps and call Mr. Hoare again. There’s only one of me, and I have had an onslaught of political stories that have, sad to admit, superceded Ayn’s most compelling story.

      • George says:

The MCFD is used as a tool to control the poor, the mentally ill, disabled..

I was threatened with “the call to MCFD” when I stood up for myself.

        There is nothing more frightening….

        • Observer says:

Have seen MCFD “in action” quite a few times. This is a terrorist organsation and should be disbanded ASAP. The $1.35 billion a year they devour could be spent way better by funding the legal and education systems for example.

Thanks to G Campbell, and Crusty the Clown ( and her band of merry thieves ), I am now embarrassed to let people know where I am from. This is sad to me because it used to be that BC was a place to be proud of.

When they asked him his cell number and he replied Block A cell 14 it should have been a clue that something was just not right. Then again maybe that was a qualifying quesiton.

  29. samantha says:

happened to see the premier unelected breathlessly try to explain that she was not aware of atwal’s presence in the gallery. when she is caught unawares (which seems to be 98% of her awake time) she stutters and stumbles over her words all the while trying to beguile the reporters. perhaps she thinks if she acts dumb they will cut her some slack. oh wait, is that an act? but I would bet that ms. premier unelect won;t be walking down lonely roads on vancouver island anytime soon.

How about tony bennett and “I wanna be around to vacuum up the pieces”. I would donate a hoover for that!

  30. Oh...My.. says:

Just when you think, you have heard it all….

Incredible! As a party leader, not to know who your important people are, what they do and where they come, from is completely
    ridiculous.

This leader and her party, shows that stupidity know’s no bounds, when politics is corrupted and policy subverted, in order to decieve and misrepresent, the “message” to the people.

I thought that the Harper administration had desceneded, into the days of McCarthism, over the internet “spy” bill, but this?

This is something I would expect, from a third world “puppet ” regime, not a north american government.

An incredible new low, for this bunch of buffoons!

Somebody …please put an end to this travesty!

Anybody called Csis yet, this is damning stuff…BC legislature raids nothing … this is a full blown “internal security matter” for this country.

Terrorists linked to the BC Liberals…whats next?.

  32. Dart says:

Thats why I come and read your column. Real reporting.
It seems that a lot of us would like to say that we are suprised by this info but rather than suprise we accept this as “normal” for the Liberals. This Mr Atwal is the same fellow who was found liable as a conspiracy defendant and fined $10,000 in “a scheme entailing the theft, or ostensible theft, of motor vehicles insured by the plaintiff, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (“ICBC”), the creation of a false identification and ownership history of the vehicles” on March 17,2010 in the Supreme Court of BC. A real stand up guy.
Did this guy just start with the liberal party on Clarks leadership run? How long has he been working in the background?
Ya got me goin. Keep at it Alex. Great job.

  33. Ike says:

Pretty common knowledge in Surrey that Clark is stocking Cadieux’s riding association with her loyalists, to bounce Cadieux for Sukh Dhaliwal. Eagle eyed readers should be searching through Clark’s government Flickr feed for Atwal photos and the Indo Voice newspaper’s archive too. There’s bound to be a photo of Atwal somewhere.

    • AGT says:

I heard the same thing, but it seems Sukh might have cold feet knowing the election will go to anyone except the Liberals.

His ego wouldn’t be able to take sitting on the Opposition bench, for fear he might have to do some honest work for the first time in his political career.

    • ∞² says:

Is this the same Sukh Dhaliwal that eagerly signed the liberal petition part of the coalition agreement with the now almost extinct Bloc? … you know … the one that would have given Quebec the keys to your house.

Makes you wonder if the Bloc would still be around if this group of clowns had succeeded.

  34. Ron says:

This might not be relevant, but I just got off the phone with the Bill Not-Good-Enough Show and asked the panel (which included Alise Mills and they were talking about the teachers’ contract) what they thought of the fact that the gov’t was asking for zero net increase in wages when the MLAs are getting and have been getting a cost of living raise equal to inflation every year since they gave themselves that HUGE payraise some years ago.
Well, Mills answers me by going on a rant about how the head of the BCTF is hurling such words in her dialogue that makes her blood boil. And not an answer to my question.
I also got a blurb in there about how it’s pink shirt day for bullying and Clark should be pilloried for her bullying tactics in the Ledge…..

  35. Gary L. says:

“What does the Premier know of this man Atwal? Did she promise him anything?”

Well, let’s think about this question for a moment.
The not so charming Mr. Jaspal Singh Atwal is a builder in Surrey. Somehow or another he finds himself sitting in a the public gallery while the legislature was a in total lockdown.
This Public Gallery in in Victoria.
So, something or more likely SOMEONE impressed upon Mr. Atwal that it would serve his interest to attend.
What would that item of interest be?
Perhaps Bill Good, who has “never been a defender of this Government” will put this question to Premier ELECT Clark during the next Throne Speech held in his Studio’s.
Or perhaps he was misleading us, and would entertain no such thought.
Or perhaps that pillar of Society, Mr. (I never met a school bus driver I didn’t like on Nomination Day) Dosange has some skin in Atwal’s game?
    Cheers

  41. Amazed says:

As if it wasn’t bad enough that Jaspal Atwal was found guilty of attempted murder, in a decision released March 10, 2010, the BC Supreme Court found Jaspal Atwal liable for damages for fraudulent conversion to the tune of at least $25,000 for ripping off ICBC. (ICBC v. Atwal, 2010 BCSC 338).
