EXCLUSIVE/BREAKING NEWS: CHIEF JIM CHU MUST BE FIRED–Vancouver Police Totally Unprepared for Cheney Visit Mini-Riot–Sound Familiar?
Think about this: The former Vice-President of the United States is en route. Forget that in this case it was Dick Cheney.
Without going into additional specifics you would be privy to if you were the Vancouver Chief of Police…..
Vice-President Cheney was the second most powerful man in the world for eight of the last eleven years. He along with the President, led the most powerful nation on earth. His was the responsibility to support the President of the United States–the most powerful man on earth. He is privy to highly classified information. He has uncommon knowledge of world affairs. He is identified as being very anti-terrorist and for his efforts to keep the world a safer place was made so very publicly a target of deep scorn and protest by one radical, left wing Member of Parliament and an equally mindless far left member of the local online press (where protester types slither).
Got all that?
Chief Jim Chu is a very well-educated (MBA) and (purportedly) intelligent man. He commands (lesser and lesser) respect and leads the most vaunted police force in the province. After clearly fumbling the pre-riot preparation and eventual riot and then subsequently (in no particular order) dragging his feet, providing excuses, LYING (virally), apportioning blame in every other direction except his own, demoralizing droves of his constables and officers, demanding intel from the very media his department only one week earlier despicably attacked, and generally having made Vancouver a much, much less safe place by almost single-handedly committing to the outright pussification of the Vancouver Police Department….as a result of following the orders, of course, of City Manager Dr. Penny Bedlam and that other liar Mayor Moonbeam. …
…it didn’t occur to him that there might be a ‘Drub at the Club??????????????? It didn’t occur to the Chief of the VPD that Dick Cheney, who I’m told travels with a security detail of about, on average, a half dozen Secret Service members, would have earned the protection of Vancouver’s finest??????? Chief Chu doesn’t read see any of the various media reports? He doesn’t make himself aware of visiting dignitaries? He doesn’t care about the lives of foreign officials–even if retired?? HE DOESN’T READ THE GODDAMNED PAPER and didn’t realize there was going to be a problem?!?!?!?!?!?!
Jim Chu is a proven liar and an imbecile and should be fired forthwith.
How does this grab you? To protect the immediate past Vice-President of the United States of America–who has a price on his head by al-Qaeda and is the target of insane fools locally, the Chief in all his wisdom assigned a mere TEN police officers and one NCO.
Not enough to fire him yet? Okay…
Upon having no real police presence at the Vancouver Club for almost a full 45 minutes, this idiot of a man and clear danger to Vancouverites, oversaw the raising of the coverage to 14 police constables and TWO NCOs!!!
Against a growing, brooding crowd of almost 300 hyped, doped, angry, delusional, rabid, frothing far left wing morons, the Chief of police thought nothing of ignoring the high potential for a problem and just hoping against hope that it would all die down.
Extraordinary.
SEVEN of the dozen members of the VPD that provided me with the news on the riots that all other outlets eventually lifted from here, contacted me again last night and about the nicest thing that was said about the preparation I just can’t use in this piece, as it’s loaded with expletives.
Once again, Jim Chu’s VPD was unprepared and he is unworthy of being Chief of the Vancouver Police. He’s a joke. As one senior cop put it to me: “If we had a damn presence, things would have been different. We should have had at least fifty or sixty guys on, from the beginning. We all read the papers and new what was coming but just like with the riot, we were unprepared. I guess the guys upstairs ignored the problem but it was obvious to all of us, we even talked about it in our weekly meeting but Jim just dismissed it. I couldn’t believe it. You have no idea how low the morale is right now…”
As it turned out, VPD members were clawed from other areas of the city to assist in dealing with the protesters after matters got completely out of hand. Upwards of over 50 cops from other parts of the city had to come down and assist and by the time the riot squad appeared it was already 10pm and the event was over.
Now, let’s go back to the Virginia farm boys, who are trained to gargle with Draino for fun. They protect the Vice-President. It’s either take a bullet or give one; licenced to kill so long as “the target” is in the open and there is a clear and present danger–the threat must be immediate and they must react in SECONDS. They are honour-bound to kill anyone who would present an immediate possible threat to the life of “their guy.” I have a friend who is a retired Secret Service agent and the training they go through is mind-boggling–at least the parts he could share. Well, let’s just say one of these loons from outside decided to take the entrance of the club and have his pals storm the building. The “security” detail at private clubs in this town is usually in charge of locating a runner in case the third floor bar runs out of gin, so there’d not be much of a challenge. The loons make it past the concierge desk and zoom up the marble staircase and as they’re turning the corner to head to the second floor dining room, they’re met with three Glocks.
BAM…BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM.
BAM.
After the bodies hit the floor and the whole thing turned into an international embarrassment, how quickly would Premier Wigglebottom get on the phone to John Furlong for yet another whitewashed report? How fast would the Mayor head for the safety of the familiar space below his desk (where he has a secret propeller beenie compartment and his alphabet blocks)?
More to the point, how soon thereafter would the Police chief have to resign because he was NEGLIGENT in properly covering a Vice-President of the United States of America?
What would he say to the families of the dead protesters? Oops? This could have turned into a MAJOR league problem.
From NW:
Man charged after Cheney protest
VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980)
9/27/2011
A Vancouver man faces charges after last night’s angry protest outside the Vancouver Club where former US vice president Dick Cheney was speaking.
Police constable Lindsey Houghton says the 51-year old allegedly assaulted and choked a staff member at the club.
Houghton says the level of violence directed by 250 angry protestors at police, and those attending the event, was unacceptable.
He says, “but last night we had attendees who had their clothing ripped, people were grabbing at them, in their face, being very belligerent and verbally abusive, and I’m sure there are some people who attended last night who are reflecting now, thinking it was a potentially dangerous situation for them.”
Houghton says they police 200 demonstrations a year in the city, without problems.
Apparently Jim Chu has been giving Lindsey the same talking points usually vomited by Jana McGuinness.
Officer Houghton got one arrest out of all that? The behaviour was “unacceptable”? What a dolt! It was damn well OUTRAGEOUS and a blight on us in the international community once again.
People in Spain must think we are protected by keystone cops (when in fact the vast majority of the VPD members are first class). Brazilians must believe our police force is run by Daffy Duck. Well…
It was “potentially” a dangerous situation? The first idiot who wanted into the club to confront Dick Cheney could have been killed along with any jerk soon to follow. The 81 year-old mother of one of my better friends ended up in a planter (along with four other women) and had to be rescued by police. Another woman lost her shoes. And another elderly gentleman was shoved to the ground in the presence of a member of the media–a woman, who scolded the young thug, as the old man clutched his chest. Came the response: “Fuck you bitch, let him die!”
A young couple were petrified and hid in one of the alcoves until the police lent a hand.
Another friend who was covering for a major station, with camera man in tow, was scared for her life.
Potentially dangerous Cst. Houghton????? What a comedian….
As another member of the VPD put it to me last night: “They claim to be for free speech, however the verbal barrage of profanity that both male and female protesters hurled against those leaving was disgusting.”
The horses’ asses that acted like such thugs the other night should have been getting out of jail right about now with missing teeth, black eyes, cuts bruises, broken arms and legs and gashes to be mended.
But that would have required a Jamie Graham.
Jim Chu must be immediately fired to maintain the integrity of the Vancouver Police. This was worse than the riot. With the possible consequences, so much more deadly.

and in the words of the man that committed the assault…

Yes, I saw this very good piece by Bruce.
[Translate]
He is one sick, twisted individual. Doesn’t it just figure that he is also a TROOFER?
[Translate]
You said it!
[Translate]
UN FUCKING BELIEVABLE
Gregor Penny and Jim need to be nuked NOW
And this Goof needs to have a long time as a prision bitch
[Translate]
I can honestly state, that if someone puts their hands on me, I will take it as a threat and defend myself.
I hope this nutter gets his ass sued – civil court. since being arrested seems to be hobby for him. (And another sad testament to our ‘justice’ system)
[Translate]
This Vancouver City Council has a “hands off” policy towards criminal behaviour. The city is starting to disintegrate under the weight of all the disinterest in fixing the small things.
So, naturally people have no respect for the law, don’t get invloved in helping people when they see somethingbad happening, and watch the gang and other criminal element build and build and build.
And, oh yeah, some of our cops, who should be pushing these idiots out of town, are harassing old lady drivers or selling dope while in uniform.
It must be a demoralizing place to be, that building at the foot of Cambie Street.
[Translate]
NOTE TO READERS: SUPERB COMMENT–REQUIRED READING.
[Translate]
Again…read history.
The quasi left -wing either by dictate or default allow such ” anarchy”.
It’s perceived by the masses as freedom of expression, but serves other agendas.
[Translate]
Absolutely true. I have called 3 or 4 times to have an abandoned building on Hornby cleaned of a horrendous amount of graffiti. This is right next to our building where there are 500 and 600K condos. They simply do not care. Also the epidemic of dangerous sidewalk cyclists downtown goes unaddressed day after day after day. I could go on. There is a low level of anarchy that is permitted in this city that will be it’s downfall eventually.
[Translate]
Can’t help but think if it was the Norks Dear Leader, or, Hugo Chavez, or Ahmadinnerjacket, the entire VPD would have been there, with Mayor Moonbeam, the Visionistas, Comrade Tim, and the rest of the Hollyhock club there, with the same violent idiots as well, except this time, they are bowing and cooing over their favourite tyrants.
[Translate]
Oh, absolutely, you can bet on it.
And Charlie Smith would write a column extolling the virtues of Chavez’s endless humanity…..
[Translate]
I wonder when the NPA will turn their guns on Cheif Chu.
Man, if the NPA wanted a sweep, now would be the time to make it happen.
[Translate]
Stick to fawning over Christy and Alise please. Otherwise, where the NPA is concerned, you have NO IDEA what you’re talking about.
The NPA cannot possibly sweep this election.

“And another elderly gentleman was shoved to the ground in the presence of a member of the media–a woman, who scolded the young thug, as the old man clutched his chest. Came the response: “Fuck you bitch, let him die!”
Gezzus H Christ, you cannot be serious!!??
Harming, in any way, the elderly is just downright pathetic, cowardly, and disgusting. And all because he wanted to express his own free will and listen to someone speak; GODDAMM IDIOTS!!!
When will this town wake up and demand more from it’s leaders, after all, we pay their salary.
“Chief” Chu-one word-pathetic.
Istead of getting real, boots on the ground policing done, we get the VPD on twatter, bike ride alongs with Mayor Moonbeam, and other marginal ideas. By any chance, is he reading from Christy’s playbook; all show, no go.
I agree, he must go now, but who will have the balls to demand it.
Not our Mayor…..
[Translate]
Absolutely correct.
[Translate]
Pictures! There must be pictures! We want the police to release any pictures they may have. What about the media, they must have got shots of the crowd and the guests. I’ve seen one picture of the back of the head of the guy who assaulted the employee of the club; still no names of those questioned by the police.
[Translate]
Chu should be ample proof that political correctness should play no part in the selection process for key public service positions.
[Translate]
Precisely.
[Translate]
So should Obama.
[Translate]
Ahhhhhh yes,
The unwashed rabble,
screaming childish profanities and politically mindless drivel that some tenured university prof has regurgitated out of a book.
And they expect us to to mindlessly follow their lead………ri-i-i-i-ight Yew betcha. Always wanted to live as a scruffy opinionated rat
( as opposed to a well groomed opinionated prick)
They should be offered 2 choices. A severe beating followed by 3 months jail with bread and water or No Welfare for life……. I’m sure most of these jobless scum would choose the beating and jail.
[Translate]
You’re my kinda guy…
[Translate]
I just realized that Chief Chew ( Chu ? Choo Chooooooo !) has dodged 2 seperate riots where there have been no deaths….. Mind you there havent been charges laid in either situation. ( Oct 31 is the soonest we will see police lay charges ?!?! WTF!!!!!!!!)
One wonders how many citizens would be baying for his neck if some innocent( ie little old ladies or men at the Vancouver Club ?) person was KILLED. The media would hoist his head on a pike and march it through the city. And you get one guess as to who would lead the parade. Gregor and Panny par chance?
[Translate]
Yup. Absolutely correct.
[Translate]
I guarantee you that before Chief Chum-Chu resigns “to spend time with his family” (cover story)
That either him or the Suspiciously boyish Mayor will drop the race card on the namesake of this blog and/or anyone else they care free to slander, you watch.
Can you imagine what this Maoist Mayor will do (or told to do by his handlers)to this town when he is reelected ???
At least it will be safe for gangs ,dealers and serial killers ,as for the rest of us we will be milked for every tax dime we have and told to go to hell.
[Translate]
You’re quite right.

” THIS TOWN NEEDS AN ENEMA” !
My apologies to Jack Nicholson aka ‘The Joker”
[Translate]
Well I’m sure Cheney would have approved waterboarding. Now that would sit well with the crowd on this blog wouldn’t it?
[Translate]
On terrorists, absolutely. On enemy combatants–NO!
[Translate]
Apparently Ron$ approves of violent protesters pushing and shoving elderly people that have paid godd money to attend a book signing and speech.
Reguardless of Dick Cheneys transgressions, The local people that wanted to attend his book signing shouldnt be subjected to physical violence! period!
If the children that attempted to be heard feel that their protests deserve to be heard then they should have been shouting from across the street .
But expecting such uneducated rabble to act like adults is too much to hope for. Perhaps the ‘pro waterboarding crowd” on this blog should go to the houses of the elderly parents of all the protesters and push and shove them around?
Sorry RonS , your “protesting friend s”messages are nothing more than the braying of donkeys. ie loud, annoying and deserving of a whip to make them move.

No, you are just using any little event to justify your argument to sack Robertson/ Chu. The VPD reflect the wishes of the citizens when it comes to law enforcement.
Vancouvrites do not want a heavy handed response to criminal activity. If the VPD response was one of “unleashing the dogs” than that would have been the story of the day. You dream sequence involving an “international Incident” didn’t happen! and it would then lead to the conclusion that VPD did the right job. No real injuries, no shots fired, no incident forcing a royal inquiry.
Just because VPD didn’t act the way you want police to act doesn’t necessarily equate to firing the Chief.
[Translate]
“No, you are just using any little event to justify your argument to sack Robertson/ Chu.”
You consider the violent storming of a venue where an American dignitary was housed to be a small event?” You need psychiatric help.
My dream sequence could have easily happened. VPD cops WHO WERE THERE, were APPALLED at the lack of preparation, you moron. Did you miss that or are you going to tell me all the badges that called or emailed me are fakers? Get help. The city wants a pussified police force? Please point out when they said that. Go on. Show us some evidence.
“No real injuries, no shots fired, no incident forcing a royal inquiry.” Seriously? You really, really, need help. Assault, spitting, knocking the elderly into planters, shoving people into alcoves, threatening people, choking a staff member–these were non-events?
Since the election of your socialist heroes, this city is in an almost perpetual state of anarchy for all the loons like you. If you believe what’s happening is so good, why hide behind a moniker? Tell us your name. Stand up for what you believe in.
Coward. It’s because of people like you that in 2013, Vision will be wiped out. And I can’t wait.
[Translate]
Hey @ Diverdarren:
What if this was a Bill Clinton event and the same events transpired?
Still think the actions of those idiots outside the venue would have been
appropriate?
[Translate]
Hey Darren why don’t you just come out and admit you work for Vision. And by the way everyone I talk to thinks we need a police force that protects us. Peaceful protests OK but start strangling innocent people and you get what you sow.
[Translate]
Well, name calling aside;
Examples of the City/ VPD using reflecting the citizens soft approach to crime:
1. The Playoff riot, 2. critical mass, 3. the open DTES drug market, 4. the open stolen goods market at Pigeon Park (the City closes the street for them) 5. the Olympic riot. 6. the reversal of VPD’s j-walking ticket campaign on the DTES.
Can you show instances where the VPD/ Local RCMP jack booted some group and wasn’t condemned by the public they serve?
I’m saying don’t criticize the police when they are doing what the citizenry expects of them. If it was not this way there would be a real problem. No one wants to live in a society where the police do as they please and disregard the will of the people.
As for firing Chief Chu for something that might have happened; that’s a ridiculous suggestion AGT. Would you fire Vaughn Palmer for writing a story that might libel someone, but didn’t? We don’t fire people for instances that could have happened, but didn’t.
As for Vision being wiped out, we’ll see.
[Translate]
Lovely. You listed six instances of complete failure.
Then you set up the reverse straw man and pretend it’s a legitimate question. There were no instances of proper authoritative positions by police since Jamie Graham left because Jim Chu has pussified the force to satisfy idiots like you–who are in a minority.
Tell us: You think the performance of the Chief since the last riot is appropriate? Lying. Blaming the media. These are thins for which to be proud?
And finally, may I recommend reading comprehension lessons? I said he should be fired not for the POSSIBLE scenario I painted, but for his assigning 14 cops to a mini-riot which had broken and he was made immediately aware of. He didn’t do his job.
Go away. Names are appropriate when dealing with a moron that tries to manipulate the words of others to accomplish nothing but drivel peddling.
[Translate]
‘Can you show instances where the VPD/ Local RCMP jack booted some group and wasn’t condemned by the public they serve?’ – Yes there will always be criticism in such intances, certainly by those (supposedly) being ‘jack-booted’. As to the view or ‘the citizenry’ (aka, to me anyways, the silent majority who actually pay taxes), let’s have all the facts come out on a particular situation and take a poll. I quite like the chances of a majority of ‘the public’ being onside, actually.
I suppose that I was also under the naive assumption that the ‘will of the people’ was expressed by the laws that we all agree to live by.
AGT – totally right, six screw-ups do not somehow constitute a good idea, and Chu’s errors have to do with a failure to take reasonable and adequate precautions to preserve order. As a professional peace officer, this is simply his job, end of story.
[Translate]
Thank you kind Sir!
[Translate]
I’m sorry, you were saying something about the silent majority representing the views of the citizenry, and written laws expressing the will of the people.
I was distracted by the Supreme Courts UNANIMOUS decision that the Federal government can’t enforce its own criminal code on insite junkies.
You sure that society doesn’t want a soft on crime approach?
I’m actually pretty conservative when it comes to crime and punishment, but I’m smart enough to know that hardline on crime views are the minority.
And, if I’m wrong the Conservative majority will use the not withstanding clause to force their wishes.
[Translate]
You’re not very “smart” at all:
1) The Supreme Court decision on Insite is absolutely no surprise, but because you’re so smart you must have missed the decision. Go read it and then tell me it has ANYTHING to do with soft on crime. You are either NOT very smart or paid to spike this blog with horse shit.
2) As further evidence that you are sooooooo “smart” the notwithstanding clause DOES NOT apply.
Wow, a real genius…you should hang out with Andrea Reimer.
[Translate]
I wasn’t going to, but I have to pipe up on this one from Diverdarren:
“Examples of the City/ VPD using reflecting the citizens soft approach to crime:
1. The Playoff riot, 2. critical mass, 3. the open DTES drug market, 4. the open stolen goods market at Pigeon Park (the City closes the street for them) 5. the Olympic riot. 6. the reversal of VPD’s j-walking ticket campaign on the DTES.”
Here’s where I most definitely do not agree:
1) the Playoff Riot – there is a time to go forth with the soft side of policing, but one hour into the riot was not the time. Then was the time to take control.
3) the open DTES drug market – this has more to do with our judicial system’s inability (or would that be unwillingness) to keep drug dealers in jail than anything else. We need to be more vocal on holding our judges accountable for their bizarre rulings. Not anyone I have talked to thinks we should be hard on the addicts, but all agree the dealers should be sent away to a small island somewhere and left to rot. Have you actually spent any time at all in the DTES? It’s hell. There are good people down there, but the predators rule the roost and need to be hammered with a strong hand, not coddled so they can continue peddling their poison. Give you’re head a shake!!
5) read point #1
6) reverse j-walking campaign – As far as I’m concerned, reducing the speed to 30 from 50 along Hastings St is ridiculous. Other people do, as well. Read point #3 for a possible solution.
There is a time for a soft approach, but there is a time for a strong, aggressive approach, and I suspect the ‘hard’ approach has been avoided as most media on the West Coast would have a gluttonous feast on the aftermath and make the good guys out to be the bad guys.
[Translate]
Super duper comment!
[Translate]
Well they don’t reflect the wishes of this citizen. This could only be spoken by someone who hadn’t been subject to the threat of violence and intimidation for the terrible ‘crime’ of attending a freaking book club discussion ! Protesting is fine but from what I’ve seen it clearly crossed the line here, and there seems to be a stunning lack of enforcement of laws when the cause is deemed to be ‘politically correct’. The law is established precisely so that we don’t have to rely of the momentary ‘wishes’ of the mob to decide what is illegal or not. And when the police can’t be counted on to enforce the law, we have anarchy.
[Translate]
SUPERB COMMENT.

I’m so sick of this shit. Why does Vancouver continue to be a classless city? All of those deadbeats protesting a bunch of nothing need to move on and do something productive with themselves instead of trying to cause trouble to everyone. Who do they think they are, holding an innocent person in a choke hold? Whats the point? Unbelievable.
[Translate]
You’re quite right. No argument from moi.
[Translate]
For approving torture, even on terrorists, I’m with those who believe America lost its soul. I’m with those who believe Bush, Cheney, and others involved in the approval of this method on any single human being should be tried and jailed. The fact Cheney is allowed in our country horrifies me.
I know many of you don’t understand that point of view, but please respect it. It’s a principled view.
At the same time it saddens me equally that we cannot protest Cheney’s presence without violence. And it’s absolutely true that Chief Chu should have foreseen the danger. Cheney is a lightning rod, love him or loathe him.
[Translate]
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is “human being?”
Not in my reference book.
[Translate]
Having served during wartime I don’t necessarily agree with Merv’s opinion but I respect him for the civil, rational way in which he expressed it in direct contrast to the dolts outside the Vancouver Club the other night.
Also, his observation that the danger was easily foreseen is spot on.

Let me step in with enthusiasm and appreciation.
Merv is one of the finest people who I have the privilege to host here. He’s terrific in every way. I am most thankful for readers like him.

To quote the great Mark Steyn:
” America and its few real allies fight under the most constrained and self-imposed rules of engagement ever devised, and against an enemy that rejects every basic element of the Geneva Conventions. Perhaps we are so rich, so smart, so advanced that we can fight with one arm and both legs tied behind out back and still win – eventually. Along the way many innocents will suffer. But better that than that a Gitmo detainee with a fear of insects should have a caterpillar put in his cell.”
[Translate]
Perfect.

Utterly and completely unacceptable performance by Chu. What is it going to take to have him be accountable? The Province has the ability to order an audit on any municipal police department in the Province, such as was done on the West Vancouver Police a few years back, (but not fully made public by the police board) I would suggest a leadership audit on the VPD with the target area upper management for a start.

I don’t have an faith in this shit anymore . First prove it’s not fake or staged. living in BC over the last decade ,under that creep Campbell and a so readily complaisant media . Merv is right and I would like to say this. “What if the President decides you are the one to be assassinated without trial by means of a Drone Attack”? No trial, no due process. HMMMM…doesn’t sound like that greta shining beacon of democracy that America was founded upon.

That’s really an absurd example. Mistakes like that are never made.
