Pammy’s Whammy: $130,000 INVOLUNTARY B.C.Taxpayer Kiss to a Christy Clark Friend
In case you missed it, the wedding of the millennium took place some 50 plus days ago (just ask the bride, it’s like no one else has ever bloody well gotten married). Wedded in matrimony were self-described “journalist” Rebecca Scott–formerly Bill Boring’s produceratrix and current Christy Clark staffer with Stephen Smart, all-round nice guy and CBC Vancouver’s Victoria bureau chief (WARNING: If you are a diabetic, view their website with extreme caution). The ceremony was conducted by Justice Bill Smart, who from personal experience, is one of the finest legal minds in the province and equally as decent a guy as his son, the groom.
Among the crowd at the exclusive Vancouver Club, was one Christy Clark, Premier of this province.
Flanking her was BC Liberal media promoter and Clark excuse-provider, CTV’s Jim Beatty and Clark apologist Global’s Keith Baldrey. They sat together for most of the night. In fact, Baldrey, much to my astonishment, has told no shortage of mutual friends in the media what a great time he had hanging with the Preem.
Now, to some of you who still haven’t caught on, I have only one thing to offer on the real story in this post: When the noses of two of three major network bureau chiefs are so far up the BC government’s derriere that they’re tweeting and bragging about spending social time with a woman who leaked confidential Cabinet information to a briber of public officials (Erik Bornmann) during the greatest scandal in BC history, and the third bureau chief is married to Clark’s chief bubble-headed staffer, what makes any of you think that the SHAMEFUL hiring of one Pamela Martin to the Premier’s Office staff is going to be covered with any kind of strength???
Baldrey has effectively emasculated Global’s newsroom by taking positions so pro-Clark that no one else there will get a producer to allow them to fairly cover the provincial government. As for Smart, well, it’s tough when your wife runs the show…and Beatty’s despicable lying about Clark’s “exoneration” through the leadership contest we’ve covered here several times.
But don’t let facts get in the way. While waiting for a in-flight decaf service this morning, next to me was a woman listening to the Vanilla Man on NW while shaking her gently coiffed, golden locks. Apparently, Bill Good thinks that the theft of your tax dollars by Premier Christy Clark (what else would you call unqualified patronage?) to gift her close friend Pamela Martin a job she doesn’t need, is perfectly fine because “most people in Victoria make about $130,000 per year.”
Just how stupid is Bill Good? Well, this HAS to prove it: VERY! Most people in Victoria DO NOT make $130,000 per year, not even those in govt are at all close. But again, don’t let the real story get in the way of a carnival barker like Good ,who also lauded Martin as a “great reporter.”
Fact: Other than a few short years as a reporter–that were entirely unremarkable, all Martin has done is read the news (like Good) and make qualified reporters wait as long as 45 minutes while she chose the electric blue jacket over the fire-engine red one or because she sashayed, stylishly late, from the same hyper-ritzy Yaletown salon that did her hair every afternoon.
Pathetic. If this absolutely shameless act of hiring Martin to be the Premier’s ‘Outreach Director’ (oops, there goes my bullshit detector again) isn’t clear proof that Clark and her government deserve to lose, than I don’t know what is.
Contrary to pro-HST fools like Chris Thompson (whose falsehood-loaded videos I will expose soon) and the like, consumer confidence in this province stinks, housing outside Vancouver is generally down, prices outside of medium to larger business are way up, the stock market is mostly sucking (uneven) wind, people in Cranbrook, Revelstoke, Prince George, Kamloops are being laid off, our resource sector is being bought up by foreign interests piecemeal, but the Premier thumbs her nose at the working man and woman in this province and wastes YOUR tax dollars on a multi-millionaire, whose husband does deals in the tens of millions so as to bolster that very same Premier’s public image.
I talk to people all over this province on a daily basis. I don’t selectively choose which calls to take or which emails to open, as they do at NW, so that I give you some spin. I tell it like it is: We’re in hard economic times my friends and the Premier of this province just handed her millionaire galpal $130,000 per year of YOUR money–for no other reason but to bolster the legion of tax-paid dimbells from various news outlets that are dedicated to covering the Premier’s well-pampered bottom (usually in full wiggle).
Beyond pathetic.
Meanwhile, MBAs from the Sauder School of Business at UBC actually have to look for work.
But please, PLEASE don’t alert Messers Good, Baldrey or Beatty. And forget Smart, he should have been reassigned long-ago as he’s in a complete conflict of interest. But don’t tell the CBC that either.
Behold! Pamela Martin, a woman who openly admitted during the BC LIberal leadership contest to knowing little about politics or at all ever being involved in it, not three months later is handsomely collecting from YOUR pocketbook, while she lives in the lap (um, literally) of luxury in tony West Vancouver, luxury home and all.
How many hot meals for poor, school-aged kids on the Downtown Eastside would just $130,000 per year buy? Programs for autistics?
Nevermind….only in BC could the media ever be successfully whored, time and again, by a woman who used them for four years.

I’m back tomorrow with the Clark pieces I promised. And mark August 15th on your calendars. BC Liberal MLAs have. They’ve been told to “be available” any time thereafter–clearly for an election call. Clark is scared out of her mind as her numbers continue to drop, so she’s going to risk it all, no matter what happens with the HST. This is causing serious indigestion in caucus and a possible revolt may brew. In addition. they have all been whipped for the caucus retreat. To show (false) solidarity, none of them are allowed leave this year.
And then, we’ll talk about a VERY interesting little nugget courtesy for the Auditor=General, who if truly independent (and I believe this to be the case) may deRAIL Clark’s shameless plans…or more.
Stay tuned!

Amazing Alex, great job as always. I was watching Global at Lunch and heard the news on Pammy and I just knew you would have something posted about it. Truly sad and disgusting.
Hopefully the BC Conservatives get their act together by the next election so I have a principled alternative to vote for because I ain’t voting for the NDP.
[Translate]
I read it on Twatter when I was in the bathtub this morning…..
…. I almost dropped my iPhone in the tub. If I did, I’d be calling Pammy up demanding a replacement. She can afford it, right?
[Translate]
You know, between you and Glissando, I’ll be the not-so-proud owner of a porn site very soon.
[Translate]
Hey, I didn’t post any pics. But I could
[Translate]
No you won’t…
[Translate]
And if I do?
[Translate]
Depending on the degree of nudity, I might have to delete.
[Translate]
Sonofabitch. Link didn’t work.
[Translate]
I’ve got to know.
[Translate]
Too bad I’m late to the party now.
[Translate]
Sounds good
[Translate]
Go Alex Go…
The only thing that I don’t like about you is the fact I can’t vote for you!!!
Maybe some day
[Translate]
She’s the BC Liberals Kim Campbell.
[Translate]
And Kim Campbell lasted all of, what, five minutes in office?
[Translate]
After reading this post Alex it is not too difficult to connects the dots up the food chain, it gives the appearance, that some very connected folks were behind your censorship on the CKNW Bill Good show…
I really don’t see where Pamela Martin has any qualifications for this job other than reading a teleprompter…and attending gala events..
This excellent post explains very clearly for me, that it isn’t what you know, but who you know….we are so in trouble as a province ..
[Translate]
Chris Olsen is no longer on our side either – he’s the new PR guy for CC.
If you can’t beat them – have them join you I guess.
[Translate]
I broke that news months ago.
[Translate]
When Pamela Martin jumped on the “Elect Christy” bandwagon several months back I wondered what political patronage appointment awaited her…. Didnt take long. Less than 60 days after the new Premier is appointed she’s handing out high profile appointments.
WHY? In this day and age are these positions handed out without any due process? Taxpayers dollars essentially stolen for the sake of a “reward” to a rich friend? Was this a vacant position that required filling? Was this position posted for other govt staff to apply ?
This appointment isdisgusting in its arrogance.
Unfortunately, that’s what govt at all levels seems to be about these days.
Get elected.
Line your pockets.
Help your friends.
Squander tax dollars.
Repeat.
VOTE YES TO REPEAL THE HST !!!!!!!
Send these arrogant pricks a well deserved message !
[Translate]
A little Freudian slip of the keyboard can make for interesting conjecture. Sacred she will never be.
[Translate]
Since corrected to reflect the truth.
[Translate]
Nothing new on this one. Happens all the time.
Look around, and you’ll see it. People getting appointed to cushy spots who have no academic or professional background in any form as to the subject area covered by the cushy job. Sure they may have business experience, but that experience is not exclusive to that one person (anyone who has taken 2nd year Business can properly complete Accounts Receiveable, or buy smartly, or even come up with a marketing contact system).
People getting “rewarded” for their “hard work” in politics when there was very little at all, in the mean time the real work done by volunteers goes un noticed, but the volunteers go ahead and continue on anyway.
Might want to dig a little deeper and find out if Pammy was actually paid for what she was doing in Christy’s campaign. There were many that were paid in Kevin’s (which reconcils the $55,000 amount posted under Salaries. The $130,000 tab for his flights is suspect.).
Honestly, nothing new. More of the same. Probably would be worse if Kevin won, would probably be non existent if George won, but the Indo Canadians would be lining up if DeJong some won.
Same trough, different pigs. Or,
Same pigs, different trough.
[Translate]
Maybe that’s why little brother Stevie appointed Gordon Campbell to the High Commissioner to Britain post? Or is it a reward for bringing in the HST?
meh…either way, he’s still drawing from the public purse courtesy of another corrupt politician.
[Translate]
Same reason why MIke Harcourt appointed Bob Williams to something called the Cabinet Secretariat and why NDP hacks were appointed to Crown Corporation Boards.
Same trough, different pigs.
meh…either way, it is still drawing from the public purse courtesy of another politician
[Translate]
I remember years ago when the Socreds knew they were going to lose the election to the Harcourt NDP.
The old IRC (Industrial Relations Council) immediately renamed the LRB (Labour Relations Board by the NDP) had about 8 staff members at the top that knew they were going to get the axe as soon as the polls were tallied.
Dont forget, the IRC was boycotted by the Unions back then because it was essentially antiunion pro big business. You literally had the gals at the main reception desk KNITTING because there was so little to do……….( I saw this with my own eyes on a daily basis)
What did the Socreds do to help their politically appointed buddies?
At the 11th hour they renewed their contracts for 4 YEARS. So, a week later the new NDP bosses walked in and fired them. Full severance.
8 people ….almost $2 million ( remember this was back in the early 90′s)
[Translate]
Alex, do you know if this was a new position specifically created for Martin? Or was there someone else in the position previously who was given a generuos severance package to make room for her? Either way, it stinks, but it would be interesting to know.
[Translate]
Brand new position, in fact, the scope of work is absurd. Total embarrassment.
[Translate]
Exactly. There’s no need for this position to exist.
Consider it’s not just what she is paid, but add in
- An assistant who will also get a good deal.
- Office and expenses
- Expenses paid for her travel.
This is far more than just $135,000 paid out to a person who has very litlte political experience.
Pammy is a great PR person and excellent when it comes to charties, but this is far different.
Spend a month goin’ around the province all expenses paid for someone who is well known, only to be received with a political goodie.
What a way to make a living.
and to think with the money earned from CTV News 9, and BCTV, she doesn’t need it.
[Translate]
I just saw her on Global, and she was asked what did she think about making more than elected MLAs. Her response? “I don’t know a whole lot about politics…..”
Heh, she made herself look like an ass,
[Translate]
Vancouver Real Estate = Drug Money
Well said Alex,
Please do not stop what you do. Eventually, this will all come out and those in the main stream media, that have actively worked to support corruption, are going to have a lot to answer for. It is one thing to make a mistake in reporting the news, it is quit another to knowingly miss direct and report falsehoods. If companies can be held accountable for false advertising, I think that political parties and news companies are liable for reporting false facts, and knowingly miss leading the public.
And when a government that has been involved in one of the largest corruption cases in Canadian history, one in which they used tax payers money, to pay to go away, hires a media spin doctor to head up public relations, it can be certain that fixing the real problems of British Colombia is the last thing on their collective evil minds, with power and money being the first, last and only thoughts in their collective evil minds.
Beauty queens turning British Colombia into a third world narco state, the best place on earth, to be a criminal.
PS
What was Bill Goods talent in his beauty pageant coming out parade? Was it a Magic show, making the truth disappear?
[Translate]
This might be a bit anecdotal, but way back in the dark ages I was a bussboy at The Kettle of Fish next to the Burrard Street Bridge. I joined the staff there a few days after the restaurant opened. It was considered “The” place to be at the time, and myself and a waiter named Luis were the only ones Martin seemed able to tolerate, so we served her almost exclusively.
If there is one impression I am left with it is that Pamela Martin is one of the rudest, nasty people I encountered in my time there — and served almost all of Vancouver’s A list personalities at the time (1979!) She was impatient to the point of absurd (losing her cool and YELLING at staff 3 or 4 minutes after placing her order) completely self absorbed, would simply walk to a table she wanted and stand there snapping her fingers until someone pulled a chair out for her, would criticise other patrons choice of clothing — loudly, was just plain rude to everybody and never tipped a dime. I guess Luis and me were the only ones that had the patience for her antics…
I am told Riley (Anderson) asked her to settle down a few months after I left there and she stormed out in a huff, never to return.
Nice to know my HST taxes will be going to her salary.
[Translate]
No surprise at all.
[Translate]
I will never forget the ads on tv where Bill Good and pamela Martin would introduced themselves.
“Hi, I’m Bill Good.”
” And I’M Pamela Martin!”
(emphasis on “I’m”)
Yikes.
Is she still dating steroid monkeys a la the late 80′s?
[Translate]
No, she’s moved on…
[Translate]
She’s been nothing but sweet to me…..
….but I did see a few occasions where she was downright rude to people as soon as the cameras were turned away from her. Same goes for the Prom Queen. IF they don’t know you, they feel no need to give you the time of day.
Funny, she wasn’t at the Prom Queen’s “volunteer thank you” party last Thursday.
[Translate]
I read this article first thing morning Alex and I was just shaking my head. Christy Clark who promises a “new style” of government, Christy the lady that criticized the opposition for “taking care of their cronies”…yes the same Christy Clark who attacks anyone who may oppose her policies…turns around & hires some flunky for $130,000 a year. The same Christy Clark who brought in her own staff all of which receive $10,000 more a year than the previous staff. Does Christy Clark have no morals ? Is Christy Clark a carbon copy of Gordon (who will soon go to London… lots of pubs there ). A very close friend of ours works in government writing & researching cases to recoup overpayments and cheaters and brings in over 2 million a year…. That person is paid less than half of what Pam will receive..not including the big payouts at the end of her free ride. Christy Clark is a two face liar that deserves a political loss that will embarrass her forever. She needs to be stopped NOW.
Sorry for sounding off Alex…but this woman really peeves me.
Guy in Victoria
[Translate]
No apologies!!!
[Translate]
Ol’ Gordo’s gonna have a shock when he realizes the taco trucks over there charge 23 quid for a burrito, and let’s just hope he doesn’t wander into the pubs in East Camden. He’ll get the crap kicked out of him in that neck of the woods.
….thinking he’s taking his little female puppy Lara with him?
[Translate]
I have the sudden urge to race through Camden in roller derby gear…
[Translate]
Better yet, let’s both fly over there and crash the pubs in derby gear.
[Translate]
Too funny.
[Translate]
Actually, we’ll probably need riot gear for the pubs in East Camden.
[Translate]
No problem. I know where we can get some unused.
[Translate]
Ouch, but most appropriate……..
[Translate]
I have the ex’s tactical gear here while he’s in Afghanistan. I’m good to go.
[Translate]
I’m starting to wonder why this ex let you go…you are a riot… sorry poor choice of words..
[Translate]
I let him go.
We’ve discussed getting back together but then he buggered off to Afghanistan. We shall see what the future holds when he gets back in a month.
[Translate]
Okay, can we keep the inside personal stuff to a minimum please ladies?
Stay on topic, thanks.
[Translate]
Alex, it is stated on the City Of Victoria Website that” the annual average
family income for
Victoria is $56,179″.
Mr. Good defending his Prom Queen’s new Outreach Director by stating that “most people in Victoria earn $130,000.00″ is attributable to one of two scenarios.
1. He is a modest man whose knowledge of the world at large is miniscule.
2. He will knowingly spout bald faced lies to protect his Prom Queen and her disciples.
In closing, may I suggest that he is not a modest man………………………
Cheers
[Translate]
AND..Harper to name Gordon Scumbell as High Commissioner to Britain, scarey…I guess the embarasment will never end
[Translate]
Maybe Harper’s sending him out of the country so he can have some serious culture shock over there. The only thing cheap in London is beer (3 quid a pint) and bread (50p a loaf!!!!).
I thought Harper didn’t like Ol’ Gordo a whole lot anyways……
[Translate]
But EVERYTHING King Gordo the Thug will consume will be paid for by the Canadian TAXPAYERS. The Thug will not spend a penny (pound or euro) of his own – it is a free ride for him, at TAXPAYER EXPENSE!
[Translate]
The next time I am enjoying a day at a BC provincial park and use the facilities only to discover they are void of toilet paper, I will think of Pamela Martin.
[Translate]
“No sh!t tickets in the loo??? THANKS, Pammy!!!”
heh.
[Translate]
Just when you thought it could not get any worse, now this.
What a bloody joke! Can someone please tell me what the hell an Outreach Director is?
What are her qualifications, that merits this salary? After all, one of the chief arguments why we pay our people in gov.’t the money they get, is becasuse we need to attract “quality” people.
So how does she fit the bill?
It just goes to show you how utterly arrogant CC is, by advancing this job to her pal, no matter how it looks.
Mind you, with the media all sewn up, what does she have to worry about?
Someone save us from this maddness……
[Translate]
What are her qualifications?
…Botox. Lots of it. I’ve seen her up close and personal.
[Translate]
Stop! I’m trying to have a bite to eat.
[Translate]
Tattooedmalady, you are on fire in this thread….bathtubs, bars, botox….wow.
Sounds like, well, nevermind…..
Love your quips…..

Oy, I am a smartass…..
……and I know a lot of people.

Used to volunteer to work at the Variety telethon each year at the BCTV studios; Tony (Parsons) and his dog Charlie (who has since crossed over the rainbow bridge) would come and visit and sit and talk with the volunteers in the cafeteria.
The Duchess Martin?
Uh uh.
I do seem to remember a lot of jokes (from the staff) about trowels, makeup, and the Duchess.

I don’t know, Alex….. A politician cozying upt o the media…..sounds more smart (no pun intended) than corrupt?
If you really want to take her down there’s only one way….step up and run for mayor.
[Translate]
A fun thought experiment is to wonder what would happen if Falcon led a group across to the BC Conservatives. That would be absolutely devastating for Clark. Don’t know if legislature rules allow it though…
[Translate]
They certainly do. But that would require courage.
[Translate]
Like the BC Conservatives need the guano that shit hawk excretes!
[Translate]
One feels the urge to upchuck over Pamela Martin’s $130,000 a year patronage job and Gordo’s appointment to London.
Both are insulting to BC taxpayers and BC residents as a whole.
Pamela Martin’s appointment, it is pure farce.
Gordo’s appointment is a slap on the face to BC from the Prime Minister.
Here is a message to Crusty the premier, you are a sick parody of a politician.
Mr. Harper, you are too, a pathetic joke of a politician, but I take heart that the RCMP , a la Jean Chrétien, are now looking a tens of millions of dollars spent on political friends.
Oh, to further sour my soul, BC’s very own wet noodle of a politician and former leader of the provincial NDP, old what’s her name is running again in Victoria. Oh joy.
Don’t politicians get it? Are they that thick, she lost and it is time to go and tend the flowers, fall off a cliff or what ever.
[Translate]
I must say, I’m very disappointed in the PM and I will write about it tomorrow. Huge plum for a disgraced Premier. On the other hand, I understand he’ll be our man on the ground at the London Olympics.
[Translate]
He’ll have my flask he never gave back to me by his side the whole time too.
[Translate]
Man, I’d like to hear the whole story behind this…….
[Translate]
Pretty difficult to stuff Campbell’s appointment as Canada’s High Commissioner into a plain Manila envelope.
[Translate]
I trust he will be looking like a dimwit clapping with his Canadian mittens and looking like he had a few too many martinis – and singing the national anthem. Maybe the Prime Minister felt sorry for him during our Olympics while seated next to him as the Premier sang the national anthem and clapped wildly. I guess the PM was impressed with Gordo’s cheerleading, and feels he will do the same in London. Gord gets his $135,000 pension plus whatever the salary is for the High Commissioner.
[Translate]
Carol probably thinks there is a chance the NDP will win the election, and she will become a Cabinet Minister…..this will allow her to top up her pension.
If you have to think about whether you have the passion to serve in the Legislature, then piss off and move on to another career. I guess she is so wonderful that the people of Beacon Hill (?) constituency need her new found passion to serve them in the Legislature. Hope the Green Party Leader siphons enough votes to defeat Carol in the election…..mark September 22 on the calender for a provincial election, unless the BC Rail payout derails it.
[Translate]
Why do they keep referring to it as ‘the billion-$ sale of BC Rail’?
Nobody’s shown me that it was a ‘sale’. Perhaps a fraudulant transfer. Or a ‘negotiated’ gift.
And from what I’ve read it never remotely approached one billion dollars. Perhaps $750 million to start, but I understand even that has been eroded? Any comments?
[Translate]
Did anyone expect anything different from a Premier who is trained in deception, lies and coverups from the master? Gordon Campbell? I know it is pie in the sky, but there are still some of who who dream these theives and liars will be caught someday. And yes, I would even vote NDP if Dix would promise a full inquiry into how OUR Railroad got sold out from under us. The Liberals need to get out, even last one of them, I’ll vote any way to accomplish that.
[Translate]
Well, then you’re voting NDP. Adrian campaigned on that.
[Translate]
Hmmmm. I wonder if Harper is sending ol’ Gordo to London so he’s not around when the worst of the BC Rail scandal goes down?
[Translate]
Okay, you got me. I’ll vote NDP too.
Do you think they’ll recind his appointment as Lord High Commissioner if he’s found guilty? Even Conrad Black has to atone for his indiscretions!
[Translate]
Where is the NDP on this? Too scared to attack a media darling.
Where is the TYEE or other independent journalist offering a balanced coherent article on the merger between our provincial media and the government and the blurring of the lines that used to separate the two.
There is a dangerous trend at play here and it needs to be exposed by someone.
[Translate]
Richmond recently released its list of City Hall salaries.

I can understand friends and insiders getting a piece of the action, but how stupid can Christy be to give one of her pals a place at the trough with an election coming probably sooner than later.? Does she not understand the basic principals of “optics” along with the time honoured tradition of rewarding your hangers on after the election has been won and not before, and what the opposition should be able to do with that ? Another example of her being to dumb to realize it.
With Campbell off to Blighty courtesy of Mr. “moral high ground” Harper for more fun and games now with the Confederation of British Industry , I’m not sure if our political discourse has yet reached the bottom of the barrell, but it must be close.
Another great article Alex.

Simple: CC was in the media, has hired many around her that were in the media. PM was in the media.
Henceforth, they cannot be touched; or so they think.

I am sure this is only chump change to the likes of Martin. She seems to be wanting to rub shoulders with politicos, but lacking any experience or aptitude, they made a spot for her. After seeing the Preme and Martin skipping, holding hands into the convention center, it is no surprise. What galls me is that there is no accountability for any wrongdoing in public office. Average Joe cannot even put any money away for retirement, and these creeps just keep sticking it to us. They play their little games and reward all their friends and then get to walk away with nice payouts and pensions on our dime. There is no justice. You don’t understand the depth of our gratitude to you for doing what you do. We feel so helpless.
[Translate]
Like Pammy needs the money anyways. She’s apparently married to a bajillionaire.
But, ya know, every extra dollar for Botox and Restylane….
*note* I had botox done a few times for migraines. I asked the doc to shoot up my brows, because, you know, I’m no spring chicken. NEVER AGAIN. I felt like my whole upper face was paralyzed!
[Translate]
it was paralyzed
[Translate]
Patronage is patronage. Who else got a chance at this “job”?
$130K a year. Only Bill Good, who lives in a very expensivve bubble, indeed, would think the average government worker makes anywhere near this amount.
I visited my mom and sister today. Both gave a huge thumbs down to this appointment. These are normally “Pammy’s People”.
But they think it’s outrageous that the Premier has given her friend a job.
[Translate]
Any idea what the payout would be, if any, to Pamela if the Liberals lose the election and Pamela is fired? Pretty amazing when there was no money for Sheriffs only a few days ago, but there is money for a pre-election campaign style position. Incredible, the Liberals have already started the campaign with the HST ads (Liberals for “lower taxes” and the NDP for “12%” tax), and now government positions to spruce up the PR program for the Premier before the September 22 election.
[Translate]
You do realize, Alex, that at today’s editorial (Thursday, June 23rd), that Bill Good denounced Sean Leslie and anyone who dared criticise his beloved friend, Ms. Martin.
He very much condemns anyone who dares to criticise her, for any reason.
Shame on you. Shame on you for criticising such and honest and distinguished journalist, and for insulting an elderly broadcast journalist of one of Vancouver’s most important broadcast centres
Sean.
[Translate]
I’d feel privileged to be in Sean Leslie’s company. He’s a first class guy.
Bill Good’s just an out-of-touch idiot.
[Translate]
Lots of out-of-touch eedjits are benign; completely inconsequential. Old man Good is a friggin’ malignant blowhard, though. Equal parts Archie Bunker and jack-arse.
[Translate]
Actually Sean in Vancouver makes a small error. Bill was denouncing Gord “I so desperately want my own talk show” Macdonald. Would you feel privileged to be his company?
[Translate]
someone should remind harper and christy that Greek is a nationality, not a position

Quizzed on the appropriateness of her salary Pammy replies, “Oh well, I don’t have all the facts, this whole government area is new to me.” Worth every cent then, and nice severance when she gets sacked by Dix!
Same newscast I learn that instead of following the British tradition of appointing career (i.e. competent) diplomats as envoys we have gone down the American road of rewarding political cronies with this still very important office. Oh well, with his new salary, expense account, pension, consultancies and directorships won’t be worried about the high cost of living in London.
Then finally it seems that our civil servants are to get $1.3 billion in severance pay, when they haven’t been severed. Which reminds me of what the French used to do with Madame la Guillotine when they’d had enough of their arrogant, grasping rulers!

Hmmm… wonder if El Gordo knows I have a few friends that are bobbies over there…….

Great work again Alex, I take the time as the rest of your readers do, to read the comments posted.and agree with all and have a few chuckles now and then. To me the situation in Victoria re: the prom queen/sweater girl and the Botox princess,is this, F##kin sad. Sorry for the implied bad language. but that’s what it is. enough said. Keep it up Alex. Cheers

The province is imploding….this is Willy wooden shoes part II in a skirt.
NDP is useless….laying low in an attempt to get in as a protest vote.
We don’t have anything that remotely resembles gov’t….its one big asylum.

As is, I consider Canada’s general way of doing governmental things to be the number one threat to Canada’s security.
I feel this way primarily due to what I consider a “foreigners first, Canadians a…………………..distant second” attitude.
Reverse that attitude and I believe Canada becomes a world leading country once again shortly thereafter.

This article reminded me of I F Stone.
I remember reading I F Stone, one of the most respected journalists in the US. He said he would not interview politicians because they always lie. When he wrote, he analyzed what they did , not what they said. He wrote a successful independent newspaper called the IF Stone Weekly. No major news outlet would handle his work as it might compromise their profit.
Too many of our journalists just repeat what politicians tell them. The journalists think they are great because they have close contact with the politicians in power and they don’t realize they are being used to spread the politicians’ propaganda.
They could ask them the right questions, but they should do an honest and rigorous analysis of what they have been told.
I F Stone would have a lot of fun with the internet.

WOW! What a day for news.
Just a list, as I remember it.
Basi/Virk payout
Surrey six,officers
leaked VPD riot info
Pennys purse strings tightened, before game 7
Bill’s feud with Shawn
Pamala Peaks BIG new paycheque
Bill’s cry for his buddys new job
Mayor Bikelane
Pizza, that I ate and felt crappy.
I think I forgot a few.
In the immortal words of Stewie from Family Guy…….”What The Hell Man”?
Alex, really? Can YOU please run for some sort of position.
Or get your own show on the “O” network.
Or Buy a newspaper, or TV station.
The word has to get out faster….This Province is Not Funny.
Had to det that out.
[Translate]
I’ll admit, I find it stupid that Pamela is being hired at $130,000 for a job so new, even she doesn’t know what she’s doing. Where can I sign up?!
However, I think from Christy’s point of view (God, I think I might need some therapy!) it’s a good move. Take a fairly well known household name in the province to essentially be a messenger for you and to do outreach. Also helps that you have Messrs Baldrey and Beatty doing your bidding under the guise of journalism. After all, this is a province that re-elected Gordon Campbell twice and one that seems to still think fairly highly of Christy Clark.
This whole affair reminds me of what Brian Mulroney once said about patronage: “There’s no whore like an old whore.”
[Translate]
coincidentally, they posted the public sector salaries today in the Sun.
Can anyone explain why the head of Human Resources at BC Housing (with a mere 500 people, 25% of who are techies…go figure) makes $194,000?
For HR?!!
[Translate]
Because out of those 500 unionized employees.
100 will be off on ‘stress leave”
100 will be off on “training seminars”
100 will be off on “maternity leave”
100 will be off on holidays/sick days/wellness days.
100 will be “working”
So you see, 400 people need to be “approved” by HR to do nothing.
This works out to aprox. $500.00 per person. What a deal!

Alex, I have several points to make:
First, while I may disagree with you on a few things, I welcome differing points of view, and enjoy your blog.
Second, excellent observations about Bill Good. I don’t mind him giving Mayor Chicken Coop the 3rd degree, but am still waiting for him to the same with his far right buddies. Talk about a double standard.
Third, afraid that I can’t get as worked up about Pamela Martin as you are. While spending our tax dollars on something like that offends me, every political party does it. That’s why I now self-identify as a cynic. What is really hilarious is when Pamela admitted that she doesn’t know a lot about politics. Isn’t such knowledge right at the top of the job description for POLITICAL outreach director? Maybe Christy can get her money back?

Don’t hold your breath. Thanks for the kind words.

This is getting fu@$ing rediculous,i mean every day theres another reason to despise christy, bill good, and the reast of the sleazy liberals, I wish someone, anyone had some very damageing dirt on this disgusting excuse for a premier.
[Translate]
Where to begin.
Since Christy Clark replaced Gordon Campbell, she squandered away $2.4 million in severance payouts to get rid of Martyn Brown, Paul Taylor and a host of other Campbell cronies under the guise of a regime change. Last I looked we are still being governed by the same miscreants we were before.
Then she hires her media friends at taxpayer’s expense to cushy jobs and in the process ensures that unbiased coverage of her performance will likely not occur. Taking stock it looks as if she has the Shaw owned media covered with Rebecca Scott, Bell with Martin and Olsen and the CBC since Smart married into Christy’s ever growing family.
At a time when the talking heads of government keep on crying poverty one has to wonder if there is really anyone in Victoria knows of what they speak. It’s not as if they have a shortage of spindoctors to come up with some consistency in messaging.
With the “GONG SHOW” going on in Victoria I won’t be surprised to hear her next imaginary position will be filled by the “UNKNOWN COMIC”.
As for Gordo’s pending appointment I suggest that the news release should feature a picture of him mugging for the Camera at the Hawaiian Police Station. You know, the one with him holding his booking numbers at the bottom.
[Translate]
I just had to come back after I listened to the audio vault on CKNW.
I am moving to Victoria……….EVERYONE makes $130.000 a year.
Bill Good, an arrogant out of touch man who is waiting for the phone to ring………..Hello ……is this…….Christy……….I was so waiting for your call, Pam said you would call…………Yes I will do and say Anything for you my Queen.
Watch out Rob, big bad Bill is gunning fer ya. What a Discrace.

Yup, even the folks sleeping in doorways on Fort St. make $130,000 a year…

We should celebrate at the Avalon. Gordo got a nice appointment, must be for the H.S.T.

Just wait until the next green initiative is implemented. You probably haven’t heard of it yet but it’s called the Extended Producer Responsibility initiave. What it means is you’ll get to pay higher prices for pretty much everything including food. You bastards in Vancouver don’t need to worry since you can just continue to buy everything in the US but for everyone else we’re getting screwed again. I’ve asked peace moonbeam if he has any chicken farming advice.

The Thought of The Day
‘Think about it. Two Groups of People. First, the scum of the Earth politicians, chiseling away at the Canadian Values and Democracy, by ways of nepotism, cronyism, corruption… Second group of people, those boys and girls putting their lives on the line in Afghanistan and Iraq, trying to justify our Canadian Values and Democracy. Now, considering the circumstances I wonder why is the Second group of people fighting in the name of the First group of people? Fair question.’
Maybe it would be a good idea to rotate all politicians, and make them serve a term in one of the hot zones where Canada is involved. This kind of life experience beats the hell out of the two cents rhetoric they are accustomed to.
I second Mr. Withe’s list above. A good list to remember.
We live in Vancouver and this keeps us busy.

Folks:
I will be sending this to my member of parliament, Cathy McCloud. If any readers think it to strong or can improve on it please help me draft it. I will wait a few days for replies and help with this. I do not remember being this upset and angry since my son was killed on the job and the WCB shit on his children.
Thanks
Wayne
Cathy:
Your boss Steven Harper is one sick, sick, sick puppy. He must be sick in the head as to give Gordon Campbell this cushy job in England. Steven Harper has shown us his utter contempt for the people of BC. He not only shit on us he is rubbing our faces in it. I am so angry that even at 73 years of age and 145 pounds I would give anything to get in a ring with him in a bare knuckle fight. I would kick the shit out of this moronic man. I sadly voted for him through you and he treats us like this. Please don’t tell the people of BC that Gordon was the man for this job. We all know him as a drunk, a habitual liar and the worse Premiere of all of Canada. Now is when we should be massing in the streets because of this injustice to British Columbia and all of Canada. If the people would stand up and do this I would be there with them. You people, Stephen Harper and clowns are beyond contempt. I can not find words low enough to describe how unjust to the people of Canada this act is. I also can not find words that describe how low this government has crawled with this one. I hope you all rot in hell as you are or must be the spawn of the devil to do this to the people of Canada. Am I angry? You bet your ass I am! I am not alone with this; see the replies to this act of disgust in the Vancouver Sun. Reward a drunken lying twit who tried very hard to give BC away to his friends. Unbelievable!

Wayne,
first of all I have to say I am sorry for your loss, and for your grand kids losing their father. Just terrible.
I do agree, Gordon Campbell should have never been allowed to come close to any public office in Canada or abroad. Period. .
This person, in his capacity as Premier of this Province behaved like Lucifer of the Underworld.
This appointment in its predictability is completely immoral, having said that there is no wonder… not long ago Stephen wanted to call the Canadian Government the…Harper Government.. Go Figure!
I wouldn’t change a thing from your letter.
Start here:

Maybe starting a Petition to remove this punk from ‘orrifice’ will garner more ink. You’ll get my signature.
IMHO,
Good luck with that,

Will this ever end?? Christy Clark HAS NOT been elected as premier by the people of BC. Why is she going and spending all of this money when we the tax payers of BC have no say. this is very outrageous! This women should have no right to spend dollars in this way. Honestly I was hoping that once Pamela was off of CTV, the people of BC would no longer have to see or hear this fake and pretentious woman any longer. I guess I gave my hopes up too soon..
I would really like to know what she is going to be doing that merrits getting $130,000 a year. I guess things have gotten so bad for Clark that she had to hire a new staff member to lie for her eh? More LIES and SPINNING coming soon from yours truly, Pamela Martin.

Alex,
Most British Columbians just got a hard slap to the face from your friend and idol Stephen Harper when he appointed our loathesome ex-premier High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. I’d say that’s worse by at least an exponent, when compared to the Clark/Martin love-in you bemoan. If you’ve already brought that up in one of your recent rants I’ll apologise in advance, but if you haven’t publicly castigated Harper for it then I’d say you might be avoiding the gestalt of the thing going on here, which amounts to spinning by stealth.
[Translate]
1) Stephen Harper is someone I have met. He is neither a friend nor an idol.
2) Stephen Harper was the best choice for Prime Minister of all the recent leaders to choose from. The choice was simple. And in a majority of seats, Canadians agreed.
3) The appointment of Gordon Campbell as High Commissioner to the UK is something I predicted over one and a half years ago (in point of fact, I had then suggested that it would be Campbell’s choice between that and High Commissioner to India–where Campbell has extensive contacts in the govt and business community.
4) While unpalatable, you fixate on the act by Harper because you hate him, and I have no problem with that, but to suggest that kind of bullshit is cause for such a major rebuke by me of a Prime Minister who is otherwise worthy of much praise is entirely idiotic. When he appointed Gary Doer to a similar spot, did you whine then?
5) Adrian Dix seemed to find the Campbell appointment more than acceptable. Did you write him?
6) That you dismiss the Martin appt at 130K per year is stunning. Are you feeling well? This isn’t a big deal?

Good stuff. What surprises me is that I thought Christy was going to get Pam a job as MLA..

Teflon Lady hooks up with Lady Gagagas
[Translate]
“Teflon Lady hooks up with Lady Gagagas”
Perhaps you were engaging in some word play. Otherwise Lady Gaga has no place in this discussion as she is a very talented (and trained) musician who in spite of her flamboyant costumes etc. creates GOOD music with an EXTREMELY POSITIVE message. The world would be a better place with more Lady Gagas. She is also a very hard working individual, constantly creating costumes, writing, performing, recording.
It is disrespectful or reality to mention her name in the same paragraph as useless slugs like Pamela Martin or Christy Clark.
[Translate]
I’m not a fan of techno-pop. Not at all. But I will agree in principle that Gaga is talented and creative–attributes which cannot be claimed, ever, by Madam Martin or Premier Evita.
[Translate]
I am not a fan of techno-pop either (though I did love Walter (now Wendy) Carlos’ “Switched on Bach.” That was the biggest selling classical LP of all time, and may still be, but it wasn’t pop, just techno – being Bach pieces for organ, lute, string and other instruments performed on an old school Moog Synth.
However, without being a fan of her music, I can still respect her talent and work ethic. Also I would think someone with your attitude towards the LGBT community would have to think “Born this Way” sends a very positive message as do many of her songs – emphasizing self esteem and self confidence.
You probably wouldn’t agree with me that Stephen Harper was being hypocritical and exploitive to use the girl who achieved fame (and Lady Gaga’s respect) for performing this song on YouTube for a photo op and the choice of song (“Imagine”) was hypocritical as well, and poorly played. It is clear that Stephen Harper can barely tolerate gays and other less than traditional life styles and many in his caucus (like the new leader of the BC Cons or Stockwell “My grand daddy had a pet dinosaur” Day) would just as soon such behaviour was a crime – while believing that it is already a sin!
[Translate]
Indeed, I have the same respect for Gaga’s work where it pertains to a positive message.
On the matter of the PM’s duet, this wasn’t a set up. He was asked about it only a few hours ahead of time. It was the suggestion of a neutral third party, a teacher no less, and the PM accepted. And I’m not sure if he doesn’t accept gays. He delivered on the gay marriage vote and has done NOTHING to stop the thousands of gays being married across the land.
