Something Smells Quite Fishy: Another Global Warming Lie Exposed!
Remember, if you will, how just a few years ago we were being bombarded with stories about how the salmon run in British Columbia was rapidly diminishing due to global warming.
One of the more mindless of the Kennedys flew up here and started about how the planet was in peril and lo and behold, sockeye salmon numbers had dwindled to frightening levels. Of course, what would a sensationalistic plot be without the requisite rejoinder, in full, traditional Massachusetts dialect, “…an the’ll lykley nevah bee bak”
That, of course, was Robert Kennedy, Jr.–environmental BS artist extraordinare.

New testing by the Pacific Salmon Commission shows this summer’s Fraser Sockeye run could be the largest return in almost a century.
Test catches over the past few days indicate migration is much higher than estimates released earlier this year.
Current assessments suggest the total return is slightly more than 25 million fish, marking the largest run since 1913.
That’s also more than double what the commission had been predicting for 2010, at slightly more than 11 million.
Last year, only one and a half million of the 10 million expected actually showed up.
Now, you can absolutely bet that there will be someone in the alarmists’ lobby to say that WARMING has caused this….
But wait, for years we’ve been listening to the REVERSE! Global warming was actually depleting salmon stocks, right?
You don’t need to read it all, but have a look through this rather large nugget written for the left-wing Sierra Club by long-time NDP stalwart David Levy. It’s only a few years old. Global warming is killing sockeye salmon, the sky is falling, we’re all gonna die–you know, the usual schlock. In particular, read the ‘Climate Change’ section and try not to laugh.
D’ ya think they’d be asking old Dave for a refund? An explanation even? Because all we’ve been hearing from groups like the Sierra Club is that instead of the earth having cooled over the last decade (and that’s the truth), we’ve actually been warming and at an accelerated rate (and that’s NOT the truth). Mind, they knew what they (the Sierra Club) were going to get well prior to the report even being written. It’s the self-fulfilling prophesy of global warming doomsterism.
I tell you, the grand contradictions and manufactured absurdities coming the the now desperate global warming alarmist set is, well, ALARMING.
Because for those of you most in need, it hurts you at the check out counter, and thanks to Gordon Campbell’s ‘Carbon Tax’ and other job stealing proposals, like ‘Cap ‘n Trade’, global warming lies will continue to syphon money from your children’s future.
When are we going to hear that this Sockeye return is due to global warming.

Well, I doubt you will. If they say it’s because of global warming, then they have to explain how global warming was also responsible for dwindling numbers. It makes ZERO sense. And that’s why I featured it, to preempt the insanity that will surely ensue from the alarmists.

Hi Alex, Where are the “Pillars of Science” screaming last year that the AGW would destroy the salmon or that the fish farms had already destroy the salmon? Depending which “Mantra” book they did read from? I am sure they are frantically “researching” their “Book of excuses” to continue “pushing” their attention getting theories???

Agree with you that the global warming terrorists have again been proven wrong. But before we bust our collective butts rejoicing in this big return you have to understand that the DFO has fucked it up completely.
Most of these fish should have been caught up in Johstone Straight, long before the got to the Frazer. According to two old buddies of mine, former fisherman who owned their own boats and fished these waters for many years they have allowed far too many fish to get to the spawning grounds, where they now attempt to spawn over an area that has already had eggs laid in it. They disturb that area and destory the previously laid eggs and then neither eggs hatch.
What this means is that in four years the run will be extremely poor. And then the Sierra Clubs prophesy will, of course, come true. Maybe for a different reason but when it comes to raising money, who cares?
And for all this you can thank the affirmative action hiring policies put in place by, who else but Pierre Trudeau, the gift that keeps on giving.
Isn’t it amazing how the decisions made by one man thirty plus years ago affect us so much today.

Yes, I have some pals in Hope that are fishermen and they tell me similar stories about the DFO and the native fishermen.
But in the context of what these alarmist twits were shoveling, it’s certainly compelling evidence that they don’t know their derriere from a hole in the ground.
