This Week…of August 23-27
Good Heavens! I leave for a little rest and all of a sudden you’re all aflutter.
“Where have you been, Alex?” “Is everything ok with you?” “Did you get knocked off by a Vision Vancouver hit squad?” “Did the Premier have you silenced?” “Someone close to the Mayor of Vancouver told my brother they hoped you had a heart attack.”
And my personal favorite, from someone who clearly knows me too well, ”Is it possible for someone to overdose on gnocchi? Where on earth are you”
That was actually VERY funny!.
No, I just spent some extra time with my wife and kids. And I had lunch with my old pal Tony Parsons on Friday, and met with some media folks from out-of-town through the weekend. I apologize for not sending out the below earlier. There are (rare) weeks when I won’t do this as promptly as I should, panic not. It’s already been a record month (second best since we started). Lots of traffic and many great comments.
And my resting heart rate is 66 beats per minute. Don’t know what the Lord has in store for me but I put my faith in Him. As for the Mayor and his people, they must stop wishing me ill. It only emboldens my resolve to expose them further.
So here’s you roster and this week I promise not to get behind, although with the bevy of great stories the come up, it’s not easy….
1. MMA promoters speak: I received a rather terse comment from Tom Robson, a well-known MMA proponent. I will DEMOLISH his nonsensical post in a separate ‘spotlight’ post, just to show you how absurd these people are and how they fabricate their reasons for supporting the thuggery that is the “sport” of MMA, with spin, lies and subjective drivel.
2. Michelle Obama: She’s caused her husband’s poll numbers to tumble. All for what?! A Spanish omelette.
3. Omar Khadr: Yet another hold over form last week, you’ll read why you should care about this case and why this ‘child warrior’ deserves to rot in jail.
4. Michael Ignatieff: Honey, I Shrunk the Party.
5. Mosque At ‘Ground Zero’ HAS NO BUSINESS BEING BUILT THERE. And you’ll read a fresh perspective from yours truly as to why…
6. The Vancouver Sun’s Jeff Lee has done a wonderful piece on Vancouver Silly Hall mismanagement. And 24 Hours’ ace-reporter Bob Mackin has done a terrific piece on the Mayor’s trip to San Fransisco–where Gregor didn’t leave his heart, but lots of your wasted dollars. I’ll tie them together…
7. Thoughts on the ‘Community Garden’ at Silly Hall. You’ll LOVE the numbers (NOT!) and be amazed at what the radical extremists with Vision Vancouver have done with your tax dollars. And some fascinating insight on the people eligible for garden plots (after conducting an interview with a rather RUDE employee of Evergreen–the company contracted to build and maintain the garden).
8. Frances Bula’s piece on Gregor Robertson’s Chief of Staph Mike Magee: The bloom is definitely off the rose…for everyone else except perhaps Frances–an inside look at the least respected and most cantankerous, vindictive creature to ever hold the position of Chief of Staff at Vancouver City Hall.
9. Linda Solomon, Vision Vancouver fluffer, “editor” of something called ‘Vancouver Observer’ and sister to Joel Solomon is REALLY upset with me. She wants a retraction with respect to something I wrote about her not too long ago. I’ll tell you why she’s upset, why she should be ashamed to even ask, and how I’ll show her to be the hypocrite she is.
10. The BC Liberal sweepstakes.
11. How the media has turned on Vision Vancouver and why the party can’t turn back the clock no matter who they get to lie.
12. And and honest piece of journalism from the NY TImes (wonders never cease!) on what is REALLY going on in Holland regarding drugs and how they are turning back the clock and moving away from ‘harm seduction’ and legalization…..(are you reading this Sean Bickerton?)
13. And finally….Vision sycophant writes us to complain about the “unauthorized use” of his pictures. I’ll tell you just how incredibly foolish this lad is and why he should stick to bumping for the NDP and the BCTF.
All here, this week. And all before Thursday as I’m in Victoria till Friday chasing down another story on the Preem.
Plus anything that comes up that you’ll want to know about.
Stay tuned.
And in all seriousness, I appreciate your concern. I’m very flattered by it. Bless you all.
Can’t wait for the MMA piece!
The Sun is finally allowing others than the promoters to speak on this thuggery. Great opEd in today’s paper from a guy who actually runs a marshall arts dojo (and why MMA should take the word “arts” out of its name). And Stephen Hume also gives a back of the hand to them as part of a look at our silly reverence for sports stars, in general.
Happy day for Elin Nordegren fans! May you find a man worthy of you!

Yes, it will be one of the first out of the gate. I promise. As for Tiger…ye reaps what ye sows…

You do know it’s not a mosque right?
[Translate]
Oh, I know, I know…it’s a gym and cafeteria… innocuous…
I don’t care what it is, it doesn’t belong there and the people behind it should have no license to practice anything except the Sharia “law” to which they subscribe–but in Iran or Saudi Arabia, not in Manhattan next to THAT grave site.
[Translate]
The people behind it are moderate muslims leading every day regular lives as Americans.
Should we ban churches because there are some whacked out fundamentalist christians out there?
It’s a slippery slope to start lumping together a billion people based on the actions of a fraction of them.
[Translate]
Sorry, help me here, Imam that suggested the United States were in page part responsible for 9/11 is leading a group of “moderates’?
I lived in New York. Not one of the people I know, Democrats or Republicans consider him/them moderate.
And your church analogy is incongruous. Many Christians, like myself, are condemnatory of the position Christianity took during the crusades (the over violence, allegedly in the name of Christ). And we continue to remain equally condemnatory of those who kill abortion doctors in His name, again.
How many Muslims, or more accurately, how much of Islam FULLY and COMPLETELY condemned the “fraction” that murdered 3,000 people on 9/11? Few–and they’re sitting under the protection of the CIA or pushing up daisies.
Don’t bother. Wait till my post and then comment.
A prayer center at that locale is an utter provocation by some very vicious people.

I don’t know how many Muslims condemn their acts, probably more than you suspect.
Anyway, my point is labeling a group of one billion people as one thing based on the act of a few is a dangerous thing to do.
[Translate]
Again, no one is labeling Islam as the problem. The problem is this group and their leader. And the fact that it’s within a stone’s throw of a grave site. The same extremists sect of Islam that caused those deaths, is the one that spawned Imam Rauh. Wait for my post. I promise you’ll think about the issue, and not be offended by my position. Islam is not necessarily the problem. But they must clean up their religion. Putting this center near ‘Ground Zero’ is a provocative move.
[Translate]
I’ll wait for it…but don’t get me started on religion haha. They ALL need to ‘clean up’.
[Translate]
I don’t disagree.

Still looking forward to that real estate article…
I just read over on Bill T’s blog that the BC Conservative are going to support the HST??? And a leader of – Blake MacKenzie has left.
What is wrong with this province?
[Translate]
Just added it to the list.
What wrong with us? Gordon Campbell, that’s what.
