I don’t care where any illegal boat is coming from. But since it’s coming from a country infamous for false paperwork and rampant skullduggery, there is NO WAY the Sri Lankan boat off the B.C. coast now boarded by the Canadian Navy belongs here.

It’s sickening. And, add to that the fact that terrorist Tamil Tigers may be among the boat load and you can see why we are the laughing stock of the international community today. Australia sends them back. What’s wrong with us?
Oh, I’m sorry, there are women and children aboard. Of course there are you ninnies, you bleeding hearts that allow this shameful, politically correct madness to transpire.
What does al-Qaeda do? Use human shields. What does Hamas do? Use human shields. Why has the Iranian govt built massive civilian communities and schools around nuclear facilities? So that when Israel defends herself against Islamofascism, they can be blamed for “killing women and children.” Why do the Americans question us so sternly at the border crossings? Because we might be allowing terrorists to enter this country; because there are families on board that blasted boat that might send for their possible terrorist sponsors later. Of course there are women and children aboard. What a convenient facade.
And what country are the US rightly worried about? Well, Mexico, but us next, and not just because of our significant geographic proximity.

There is absolutely not a single reason to be accepting this boat. Not one.
Not unless your intent is to allow for the degradation of our standing in the international community. Not unless you think we should just kick the flood gates open to potential disease and terrorism. They came here for a reason. They targeted us.

Question: But why have “we” become the destination of choice lately?

If Rudolf Hess in 1941 had crash-landed his ME-110 in Canada as opposed to nothern England you could bet the Liberals would have been there to swap refugee status for looted gold.

Further to this approach, then I would recommend an advertising campaign, which can be had rather inexpensively in these countries, to advise their people that they should apply to be legal immigrants to Canada, and avoid being swindled for money and slavery by the thugs who then control their lives for debt repayment.
By sending back one or two boats, I’m pretty sure the word would get out and few would try.
The more boats we continue to accept the more likely it is to continue.
My grandparents came here legally and I expect the same from every other person who would like to call this country home.

As for legal immigrants making us look bad, we don’t really seem to care what kind of people they are, just bring money. The source of much of this money is questionable but it keeps our real estate market booming so who’s going to check ?! And I’d say that the excuse for the Tamil Tigers alleged ‘terrorism’ is the terrorism they’ve experienced at the hands of the Sri Lankan government. I don’t see how you can excuse that government’s actions while condemning the Tamil Tigers. It’s like saying that Israel is always right and the Palestinians are always wrong just because the international community recognizes the state of Israel but not Palestine. And the definition of terrorism is rather self-serving don’t you think ? If you’ve got billions to spend on hi tech fighter jets, smart bombs and sniper rifles that allow you to kill someone 3 miles away that’s considered “fair play.” If all you have are homemade bombs and the dedication to sacrifice yourself for the cause you’re regarded as terrorists.

3. For a LEGITIMATE immigrant to come to Canada, they either have to have a desired skill, a job, or invest $800,000 dollars (and have a networth of 1.6 million). I propose a modify refugee claimant program where we use the claimants as labor on government projects (min wage) until they’ve invested $800,000 (per family) in our country by way of labor contributions. Hopefully such a program would at least by tax dollar neutral, so they arent a burden to our country.

Our problem with illegal refugees lies with the Supreme Court’s Singh decision that anyone setting foot on Canadian soil is entitled to all the protections and privileges of Canadian citizens.
We now have a 21 month refugee case backlog thanks to that decision. Those that are refused entry often manage to prolong their stay several more years fighting deportation in the courts.
The Tamil Tigers know they can intimidate these people into supporting their fight against the ruling Sri Lankan government with donations of money. So these “refugees” are little more than expatriate slave labour for the Tiger cause. Their oppression continues despite living in another country.
Too many of these bogus refugees never show up for their hearings and vanish into thin air. Some likely end up sneaking across the border to the US, which was their primary goal in the first place. Some of the real terrorists probably go underground where they are hidden by the Tamil community.
Could the government invoke the notwithstanding clause and deny these ships entry? Would any government ever consider using such a tactic?
Perhaps when these human smugglers start using old supertankers with thousands of refugees on board we might finally see some common sense appear in Ottawa.
At the very least, the government should put a halt into accepting any more refugees until the backlog of claims has been cleared up. Then a more reasonable fast tracking method should be invoked that sorts the good eggs from the bad more reliably.
One tactic I would recommend is that anyone claiming refugee status who has obviously had years to raise the money required to get here on one of these suspect ships should also be required to have valid documentation. No documentation, no entry. Period.

A true story: 22 years ago my niece brought home a Sri Lanken boy from school, because he had no where to go…his family he basically left and had no ties to. They met at a “McDonalds”, she brought him home to her house to “stay awhile” until he got his life sorted out, 2 years he stayed, doing absolutely NOTHING, he used them. My sister is a big softy, my brother in law had to put his foot down, they were transferred to Toronto from Vancouver, this boy was to attend school, or get a job. He dropped school at 15 because he was in an ESL class and couldn’t cope. He got a free ride to Toronto, he did not go and finish school, he left their home and moved on, where? who knows…. he was just a mooch, he probably found another family to mooch off of…….he was lazy, and played dumb, just a little con man.
