The coalition that is challenging the No HST battle in court. They say, the BC people should be pissed off at, Zalm. They say the Petition was illegal, and Zalm, has lead us down the garden path.

Could you dig, and see what is going on please?

Would have a much happier B.C. Day if we had an option of who to vote for in the next election, other than the present list of tiresome, woe-begotten, and threadbare grotesques. Still, one must make the best of what one has to deal with, I suppose.
The other night I put on an old record of Gracie Fields and in it she sings “At The End of The Day” which begins with “At the end of the day, just kneel and pray, thank you Lord for my work and play ..”. this made me think of how lucky I am to have a job to go to,despite my troubling Heaven with my bootless cries, of being under paid and over-worked with no pension, or future, only ignominy and poverty and disgrace in my old age. And while we know we are better off than the thousands of homeless and drug addled, we tend to forget that these straitened times have meant that young executives and highly trained professionals are losing their jobs, by the thousands. When crunch time comes, it is the poor who contend best with the situation. Those who have known only success, are more likely to be devastated, mentally and spiritually by the loss of their jobs. First of all, they are over educated and there are few likely to hire them for a more menial job. Then they have no union to protect them, and though they may have some protection in their contract with the company in the way of compensation for loss of job, few do, and even fewer can face the rigours or unemployment and eventual poverty. As an instance, just look at one of Darren Entwhistle’s golden-haired boy who is said to have left the company in search of his own enterprises, and ended up humping a backpack of dope over the mountainous border with the republic to our south. Caught, arrested and charged with one of the foulest crimes imaginable; had he not seen the scab-faced men and women whose minds are eaten with crack cocaine, the end product of that kind of business? A friend of mine’s brother-in-law is out of work as an electronic engineer (the kind versed in computer programming etc) who only recently made big money in California and the American East Coast area, but who is now making his home in his basement, causing turmoil in the family because of his depression and unwillingness to accept his new situation in life. Count your blessings friends!

Olga; felicitations, but I can not go quite that far, perhaps a day, but certainly not a week!
    > If I may explain. You may have heard of the Welsh lawyer Leo Abse, who was a great crusader for the legalization of homosexuality and the loosening of the divorce laws. And I can agree with him on the former, but have more trouble (by degrees) with the latter. A vow is a vow, after all. ” His practice as a lawyer gave him an unsentimental attitude to delinquency and its regular derivation from psychosexual hang-ups – He maintains that to declare homosexuality merely a matter of preference, is sentimental humbug and what should not be a crime, is not thereby a virtue.” Sorry, don’t know who related the quote, but I concur. Have a nice B.C. Day. We mat not all agree, but we can agree to disagree, as they say.

  6. A very Happy BC Day to all! Surely we live in the best country in the world- BC, that is. :-)

Trying not to fall short of zealotry, I have this to add. A few days ago in the 24H Vancouver, there was a guest columnist called Lorrie Goldstein, of whom I am unfamiliar, though Alex may know of her, who had a column headed “Less crime a damned lie”. I must say that I am in concurrence with almost everything she has to say on the matter. Lies, damned lies and statistics. Having said this, it is true that the MSM do everything in their power to scare the bejeesus out of us, with doom, gloom – fire-storms, earthquakes, faulty products, automobiles, food,etc.. However it is pretty hard to tart up the fact that bodies are found, riddled with bullets, on almost a daily basis. Almost all having to do with the drug trade.
Meanwhile, how many would like to bet money that ‘former’ Hells Angel member, Joseph Calendino will make a fool of Judge Paul Dohm, who sentenced him to 1 day in jail & 1 day of credit for time served for trafficking in crack cocaine!

  8. The crime stats we get fed are so much codswallop its nauseating. Reporting of property crime continues to fall of course as fewer and fewer people trouble to report b&e’s, car smash and grabs, etc because a) the “justice” system will do nothing but give them an ‘incident report number’ so b) the insurance company can buy them a new TV, fix the door and jack their premiums through the roof.
Violent crime stats are a particularly sick joke in Canada as the plea bargaining, automatic dropping of gun charges and such render them meaningless as anything other than Trudeaupian propaganda.
For the real lowdown on crime and how the “safe and peaceful” Empire of the Canadians truly stacks up, I suggest you make reference to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime’s International Crime Victim Surveys.
Oh, what a different picture emerges:

Great post David of North Burnaby, now if we can just get people to show support for the Conservative’s take on justice and the silliness about the Census which is the source of all these stupid stats.
