Maybe THIS is Why Pat Kinsella and Rich Coleman Were Dining Out
Perhaps…perhaps not…
But take a look at this, sent by an astute reader. After all, Great Canadian are building a DAYCARE at Hastings!!! It’ll be completed in February.
While Junior sucks his thumb, Mommy Dearest and Daddy Dumb-Ass can blow the little fella’s future.
The BC Liberals should be ASHAMED!
Makes me wonder if year-round gaming will soon be announced for Hastings. It wouldn’t shock me, considering the BC Liberals sad (and destructive) 180 degree turn on gambling in this province.
I’ve seen gambling destroy many friends, and one senior relative. I continue to maintain it’s a tax on the stupid. Machines are calibrated for you to lose and if you think two or four decks makes a difference in the box, then you deserve to lose your money.
Stop going to casinos, stay away from the track. no good can come of it. And if you gamble on-line, think again. NOTHING is safe on-line. Your entire identity can be vaporized in a heartbeat and replaced instantaneously.
If you want to shut gambling down in B.C.–STAY AWAY.
Now, as for lottery tickets…
Gambling really is a tax on the stupid – like most of those who vote for the LIEberals.
In a way, I don’t mind having the stupid taxed via gambling – if they did not, the LIEberals would have to tax other people more. So, gambling can be seen as a blessing in disguise.

IF you look at it like that, perhaps. But it has destroyed millions upon millions of lives.

I cant beleive this one daycare at Casinos , i will bet[pun intended] they say its for staff and of course casinos will be our future biggest employer , the way the BC Libs railed against any NDP expanded gambling was so negative and heavily covered by MSM that they now look stupid as well not they we didnt know they were getting free poker chips though.
what next jr online gambling on street hockey and stick ball more reasons to see recall succeed.

Yes, it’s quite incredible. We can’t get proper daycare when it’s needed but at Hastings Park you can drop off your kids so you can liquify their future.
I don’t know how some people sleep at night. Whomever allowed that should be tarred and feathered in public.

As a former (casino) dealer, its not how many decks in the box that make the difference, its the machine shuffle and constant loading that puts the odds in the house’s favor.
Back in the day, a Blackjack shoe contained 4 decks and counting cards was possible. I’ve been fortunate enough to play with a couple of card counters back in my 20′s and it’s quite something to be part of.
Now there are 5 decks and all the casinos have switched to the auto-shuffler. What’s worse is that they’ve instructed their dealers to re-load every time about 50 cards or a single deck is dealt out on the table .
Of all my time dealing cards, I only ever dumped once. I gave up about $120,000 at a Baccarat table in 60 minutes. To GCC’s credit, they didn’t pull me off the table. That said, I more than made up for it over my time by taking money off pretty much everyone else that ever sat at my tables.
It’s terrible odds this way and the government should be ashamed of being involved in what is essentially pickpocketing. You won’t find this former dealer laying a red cent on a table in this province.

No doubt the DayCare will be government subsidized so that these high rollers can spend the day gambling away their welfare checks. After all, one mustn’t discriminate against the poor here.
Now as for providing oats for the gigis, and those jockeys can’t be eating too well what with the abbreviated growth and all. A race horse is a thing of beauty, especially if it’s making you money. Perhaps limits could be lowered? I know I’m happy with a $2 bet, even moreso when I lose.

Makes perfect sense to me. But would they go for it when the vast majority of bets are in the stratosphere in comparison?

Some people will gamble. Personally, its not to my tastes but if adults wish to flush their money and hope some floats back up, go ahead.
I fail to see why the government should be involved but then, while I figure government is for cops, courts, prisons and the military (and do a miserable job of those), many seem to feel government should do everything, including being their croupier.
As for those who become addicted, well, some people wreck their lives with food. You see them waddling down the street, a heart attack waiting to happen. It’s going to be some years before the Ministry of Healthy Living is dictating how much of what we can all eat, so in the meantime, the rest of us are not having our freedom restricted because some can’t handle it.
Some can’t handle booze, shall we bring back alcohol prohibition, especially since the Drugs War is going so well? Of course not.
I take the same view with gambling. Those who have a problem with it need to avail themselves of (preferably non-governmental) assistance.
“NOTHING is safe on-line.”
Hoo-boy, is that ever true.
“If you want to shut gambling down in B.C.–STAY AWAY.”
Well, there’s enuff demand to keep it going, but I would say: If you don’t want to gamble – don’t.

True enough.

The lure of the Siren of Easy Money. Ask a regular citizen if he wants a tax increase to keep him safe from cradle to grave, or legal gambling income for the government to use on him instead. Same as the “sin taxes”, tobacco and booze. Minimal bleating when those are raised, as opposed to say the HST imposition.

Terrence and David in North Burnaby both make valid points; presently the government or one of their bureaucracies is on a crusade to force processed food manufacturers to cut the amount of salt used. Of course those with a taste for salt can just add more at the dinner table. Or are there to be salt police, tariffs, taxes, etc.? Should smokers, over-eaters, drinkers, druggies, and others with a penchant for unhealthy lifestyles be ostracized publicly and financially for their particular peccadilloes? And then there is the question of what is a “little sin”. I personally resent having to pay for abortions, as I consider them immoral, should I have to? People who come down with AIDS because of unprotected sex could be said to be responsible for their illness. I know of a doctor who refused to treat my father’s blockage (2nd time) because of his refusal to quit smoking. Should circumcision be paid for by the medical system given it is a religious necessity to two of the great monotheistic religions? Should we be made to pay for drug addict’s rigs when we refuse to pay for diabetic’s needles? Lotsa questions!
