A very Happy Fourth of July to my American friends and readers.
As the leader of the free world and our closest partner, you see how our two lands are inextricably intertwined. Although different in some ways, we certainly share in the common purposes of freedom, liberty and justice for all. While America has been at the forefront of global leadership on a number of pertinent issues, Canada, too, has been a leader over the course of world history in facilitating much of the framework to allow for such lofty goals to be realized–whether it was standing beside you at times of war or supporting global initiatives in medicine, science, sports or law that would benefit mankind.
So today we salute our North American brothers and sisters, on your day.
God bless America indeed!
