Why Suzanne Anton Should Not Ever Be Mayor of Vancouver…
Honestly, posts like this are painful for me. Suzanne Anton is a very likable, committed, sometimes exceptional, but mostly highly competent councilor for the City of Vancouver.
But why on God’s green orb she bothers to pretend that as a mayoral candidate she would even have a snow cone’s chance in hell against Gregor (or anyone else above the calibre of a David Chudnovsky) is beyond me–and hopefully well-beneath your contempt, particularly if you are an undecided Vancouver voter or NPA member. She is woefully ill-suited when one considers everything from her ineffective messaging (when she’s making a point, sounds like she’s whining) to picking the wrong side of an issue (she supported the $25,000,000 of taxpayers’ money, YOUR DOLLARS, wasted on bike lane infrastructure TO ACCOMMODATE 4% OF THE PUBLIC–while synchronously complaining about budget cuts; and actually was vacant of mind enough to support the unnecessary thuggery of MMA) to, well, apparently being shameless enough to question the Mayor’s suitability to actually be Mayor (for why else would she consider running to replace him?) and still try to mindlessly pick up a handful of votes by fraternizing with someone she would presumably need to bash around in just over a year…
Why would you do something this stupid Suzanne? Why?
She could have picked almost anyone high profile to be her “special guest”, but she chose a man whose political movement is rapidly destroying this city; she chose someone who is controlled by radical forces from the American hippie-inheritor set, who want to run over YOUR lives and those of your family, with extremism and hate, unless you are a strict cycle riding, dope legalization supporting, rabid green agenda loving sock puppet (sorry, I may have been redundant here again). She tells people within the NPA that she needs to “start thinking about that (running for Mayor)” and then she pulls this kind of inglorious stunt.
If the noggins running the NPA were sharing more than a collective pea, they would have exercised some party solidarity where Suzanne is concerned…but this isn’t possible when Vision Vancouver has a plant on your Board; you are too busy navel-gazing over issues already decided years ago; kill annual events that typically raise you thousands of dollars; cannot drop the name change idiocy or even decide on pre-campaign direction.
Vision Vancouver is destroying this city all while Suzanne selfishly fends for herself, at the exclusion of her own party and the NPA board of directors are snoring away.
NPA donors have dried up largely due to the fact that this directionless woman continues to say she may be the NPA mayoral candidate.
Did I mention these posts are painful?

Reads like a Greek Tragedy to me
(sorry, it just got out)

Interesting that the Mayor and Suzanne Anton are having a fundraiser for “Heritage Vancouver”.
If I recall correctly, it was the head of Heritage Vancouver who thought that the only heritage worth saving at 16th and Granville was the Nichol house, and NOT the whole entrance to First Shaughnessy via McRae. Apparently the fact that First Shaughnessy was a heritage AREA wasn’t important. Now we see the result of that philosophy – a clearcut at the corner of 16th and Granville to allow 16(or is it 18) townhouses on that hill – all to compensate the developer for “saving” the Nichol house.
Both the NPA and Vision were in favour of this development. The only heritage “expert” they listened to was from Heritage Vancouver. And now they fund raise for that very organization.
What a nice, cozy symbiotic relationship they all have. With these people making the decisions, Vancouver’s “heritage” will be lost forever.

WOW! Terrific post. Very interesting information. I managed (for others) and once owned a nice heritage piece–my favorite type of bldg.
I knew some of the details you write about, but you sure are dialed in. Many thx!
