Penny Ballem’s Lies: Vision Vancouver Running the Cover-Up Machine
So, Dr. Ballem has revealed some VERY interesting documents as of last Friday on the illegal firing of Ark Tsisserev. Notice it was done on a Friday, when most reporters have gone home.
And then today, Vision propaganda pinhead, Jonathan Ross is out with yet ANOTHER attack piece against yours truly, with more spin and more lies. He’ll never get it…well maybe after this week. Meanwhile Frank Kurz, the head of the Fire Technicians Network, continues to send Little Jonathan emails that prove Ross is wrong–and Ross refuses to print them. Why? Because Vision cannot let the truth get out–they wasted your tax dollars by firing a man without cause, just a year before he was going to retire anyway. And remember, Ross’ participation in the cover-up, is sanctioned by Kevin Quinlan of the Mayor’s Office.
Over at Frances Bula’s site, the home of all Vision, all the time, the mostly anonymous posters are all calling for my head. Apparently they all think this story that I’ve been doggedly following for almost two months is/was just smoke and mirrors, that I made it up, that my statements were selective–that I falsified the information.
I will not go into the details at this point, since I’m preparing the fuse, but I thought you should all know something…
I have the smoking gun. And the slugs. And the fingerprints on the trigger and the stock. They will not get away with this.
After I reveal the sources of my information on the dangers at the Olympic Village, because those sources are now willing to GO ON THE RECORD–EXCLUSIVELY HERE, not only Dr. Ballem will have to resign, but you may have to look a little higher up above her…..and maybe just below.
This is the scandal that will destroy any credibility Vision Vancouver have left.

In the interim, to the dozens of you who continue to write me about anonymous smears on other sites about my personal life: Stop worrying. I have nothing to hide. I’ve done nothing wrong. This is simply the way Vision Vancouver operate–they pretend they are morally above board and then come after your family–but I am UNAFRAID. When they can’t argue with the facts, they come after you personally. Your wife, kids, business, past wives, past life–NOTHING is off-limits. And the spin and lies will be ever present. But worry not. I’m handling all that as we speak.
Besides, after you see the ON THE RECORD account of what really took place prior to Ark Tsisserev’s illegal firing, through his negotiations with the city and the STILL ACTIVE life safety concerns by qualified experts that work with the City, they will have nowhere to go, except perhaps to hide.
This is the kind of scandal that cannot remain unaddressed.
Someone is finally going to go on record and tell us all what really happened. That person will give you factual, no colour, straight fact statements of how Arkady Tsisserev was treated and the REAL concerns he had about life safety issues at the Olympic venues. Nevermind the drivel and posturing from Dr. Ballem–she’s in real trouble.
Here’s a small teaser: The February 12th, 2010 letter that Dr. Ballem so proudly released, that was signed by Ark Tsisserev, stating, among other things, that he had no concerns and knew of no outstanding life safety issues with respect to Olympic venues–was forced in front of him, BY THE CITY. If he didn’t sign it–no agreement, no money–nothing. Now, imagine that proposition when you’ve charged Russ Chamberlain, QC with defending you, at a gazillion per hour!
Would you like to guess who from the City made that demand?
Ark Tsisserev was canned because Vision Vancouver could not afford to have this principled man on the job through the Olympics because he would not have approved some of the fly-by-night conditions that existed–and put you and your families at risk.
Stay tuned, right here–they will regret releasing these documents last Friday.
They will deeply regret this entire sordid affair.

Ah yes; a denouement at last! Or, possibly not, you know how these things have legs and one sordid fact leads to another. And thick and fast, they came at last, and more, and more, and more.

There is a principle here that should not be missed. The City bureaucracy was responsible for building inspections while the same City bureaucracy was responsible, financially and otherwise, for construction of the buildings. Suppose egregious shortcuts in electrical, plumbing and structural installation existed. Who would have uncovered those? The City. And, who would have been damaged by construction delays? The City.
Can anyone say, “Conflict of Interest.”

Norm, I’m not so sure that I entirely agree. I think this is one big cover-up from the beginning. Why would you fire someone for no cause, then proceed to pay them a hefty settlement, only after frog-marching them to their car? Then, why would you lie about the circumstances of his departure? Coupled with the Mayor providing four different responses and the City Manager hiding under her desk, you have to go far beyond the obvious conflicts.
And tomorrow…you all will be revealed.

I cannot tell you who I am abut I am a long time Vision supporter and you have met me several times. I always enjoyed your columns in 24hours even when I didn’t agree with you. You columns on Gregor I believe helped elect him and i was really impressed but since he took office it just seems he is looking after special interest groups which is the same thing we criticized the npa about. I am trying to compliment you on the way you have handled this story. I wish you were on our side because we could really use you.
Anyway I posted the following comment on Jonathan Ross’s site and he won’t print it. I think you should see it because its the way a lot of us feel about him and what he writes.
I noticed that a fire tech expert posted on his site slamming him and supporting you, so I think you should see this comment I left. Hopefully vision will get rid of Jonathan soon or we will be in trouble. Here goes..
Gee, perhaps you might want to explain how a trained electrical life safety guy is siding with Tsakumis and not with you?
As I said before if we lose the next election we will have you to thank along with the rest of the fools paying you to do this. Like Tsakumis or not you have badly manipulated his statements here. Frank Kurz is right totally right when he writes that you disparage Tsakumis because as much as I dislike his right-wing background, on this issue he has caused us a lot of problems because Penny has screwed things up. It certainly did not help when Gregor went on air and could not remember the details of a meeting he chaired. Come on Jonathan give this one a rest. Tsakumis got us. The question you want him to answer above does not even make sense and makes you look like you can not understand the issue. I know you probably will not print this but if you are prepared to be fair you should. Move on please before he pounds on us some more.

Very kind of you, but as hard as it might be for you to believe, Ross has actually posted your comment (I just checked) and he also posted a comment by Frank Kurz of the Fire Tech network, whose statement to Jonathan absolutely demolishes what Johnny wrote about me and my efforts to bring this story to the fore. In fact, giving credit where credit is due Jonathan Ross deserves full credit for putting up fair comments. I put them here when they arrive, he should put them on his site too. Kudos to Ross for this!

Wow…i am so underwhelmed at how much this affects my life…this is mice nuts compared to the how many millions Gordon Cambell just blew of all our tax money on that non existant railway called B.C. Rail!!!
Lets put current issues into perspective, the pay out given to this guy was probably a months worth of expenses given to the ” B.C. Rail” executives…..who in our media is going to put the fire to the feet of the politicians who allowed this collosal scam to cary on????….once again that ego maniac gordon Campbell gets a free press pass…you gotta love B.C.
