Vision Vancouver Propagandist Jonathan Ross Gets It Wrong–Again…
In all of the times we’ve dissected the mental meanderings of Vision propagandist lapdog, Jonathan Ross, never has there been a time such as this to really showcase the insanity (and lies…and spin) that spring from the wellhead of his amateurish and feeble attempts to spin for the Mayor of Vancouver and his party.
This kid has managed to, in no particular order, vilify innocents (for which he has twice been threatened with lawsuits–causing him to almost immediately relent and recant); unjustly accused Vancouver city staff of meddling (Vision do this only when it suits them); try to spin his own magnificent failure as an organizer for an Indo-Canadian candidate in the fall of 2008, as being the result of “racism” in Vancouver; attack the folks organizing to save the Bloedel Conservatory and Stanley Park Zoo; and generally try to damage the reputations of anyone even moderately critical of the rapidly failing city council majority known as Vision Vancouver.
Well, yesterday he prominently featured a piece on his blog where he attempted to offer “Breaking News” about the Ark Tsisserev story he and the Mayor’s minions have been following here every day.
But I think based on his “analysis” he should change that title to “Breaking Bullshit”
As embarrassing as it may sound he selectively stole quotes from my site, and offered them against some “telling” paperwork he received from the city—without realizing (or perhaps he did and he’s stupider than we think he is…) that I had already released the same paperwork from the City of Vancouver, well-over a month and half ago, showing that Mr. Tsisserev signed off on the problematic panels that are in place at the Olympic Village–but that they were STILL a potential problem. Ross, deep in delusion, refuses to point out that these panels can still be difficult and that Mr. Tsisserev only signed off because after an investigation, measures were taken to keep two-way radios a certain distance away from the panels, because when you don’t and get within approximately a two-foot range, they can malfunction. This was confirmed to me by no less than three firemen, one police officer and four separate electrical technicians and engineers. This information was also available to Ross if he’d bother to read all the research done here under ‘Featured News’. But since the Mayor’s people are in such a panic over this story, they charged him with the task of getting the information out too quickly.
Judging from Ross’ usual level of inaccuracy, I doubt extra time would have made a difference.
But here’s the rub: He didn’t bother to address the ONGOING safety concerns at all. I emailed him clarification and tried to assist him in seeing the light, but to no avail. The spin had to get out. The nonsense from the Mayor needed to be supported.
Essentially Jonathan Ross supported the lies told by the Mayor by putting out a slanted explanation of what’s happened just prior to the City firing of Mr. Tsisserev.
Problem: I just received a phone call from a Frank Kurz of the Fire Technicians Network. Mr. Kurz tells me that he saw Jonathan Ross’ post and was very upset with the distortions he saw in the piece.
So, being the apparently responsible fellow he is, Mr. Kurz emailed a response to Ross through Ross’ website (read: Center for Flagellation Excellence).
And guess what? Ross has refused to print the truth. It would, of course, shatter his “Breaking News” into tiny pieces–AND, Mr. Kurz tells that he’s been waiting for almost two days for his comment to be published on the civic scene site.
You be the judge as to how quickly Jonathan Ross, Kevin Quinlan (who is his direct contact in the Mayor’s Office), Penny Ballem, Dave McLellan and the Mayor himself should hide their heads in SHAME.
With Mr. Kurz’s permission, I am reprinting his response to Jonathan Ross, for all to see. A response that DEMOLISHES the piffle offered yesterday by Vision’s propaganda lapdog. And don’t forget, Mr. Kurz is a highly respected industry expert, with no political agenda whatsoever.
One of the people, like me, that the Mayor says is throwing around “baseless” accusations.
Enjoy…
Dear Mr. Ross,
Why would you consider this breaking news? The issue surrounding the GE Security EST-3 equipment was dealt with in the manner one would expect from the City Electrician and moreover from someone that was concerned enough to take the appropriate action. Mr. Tsakumis reported all this in one of his earlier blogs, so I would hardly dignify this story as “breaking news”. The EST-3 fire alarm system continues to be problematic when exposed to high frequency RF, so much so that other jurisdictions have required the panels to be posted with labels warning first responders to maintain a one metre clearance.
I have no “political” agenda here. The Fire Protection Technicians Network is concerned with one thing. To improve the standard of practice for individuals engaged in the service, maintenance and testing of life safety equipment.
Your “spin” on this story is obviously politically motivated or you wouldn’t be using the plural form of “concern” in your headline when the actual story focusses on one aspect of an issue with many facets. It’s up the Mayor and Council to step up now, and do the right thing. If you need to know what that is, I make that perfectly clear (on our website).
You should really be asking the Mayor how he’s responded to the more than one hundred emails and letters addressed to his office from industry stakeholders and the engineering community across North America in the wake of Arkady Tsisserev’s ILLEGAL dismissal. You should also examine the Vancouver City Charter which clearly defines the appointment parameters for the City Electrician. If you still feel that the citizens of Vancouver are “safe” in the hands of an individual with no formal electrical training (as is the case with Will Johnston) and limited knowledge of the Electrical Code, then I think Council should have appointed a dog catcher to the position and saved even more in the budget.
Regards,
Frank Kurz

Basically Alex you destroyed this guys argument. No offence but I don’t think that would have taken much. You got these guys really good and te letter from this engineer above is killer. I don’t think a Webster award is enough for the work you’ve done on this.

Very kind of you. Thx again Janice.

Sign me up to the long list of people who think Jonathan Ross is s nut. I worked with him in two campaigns and I can tell that there is something wrong with him.
I went to his site and read the post you refer to and I almost had to laugh. He refers to Tisseriv signing off on any concerns but if you read his closing comment you can see he was looking for the verification people to change the standards on these problematic panels. Ross claims the opposite showing without a doubt that he has no clue what he is talking about.
Can he really be that stupid?
Great job Alex.

Um…I’m not sure if Johnny can be THAT stupid or not, but with the revelations Friday, he looks like a complete fool. As for his “investigation” he has less than ZERO credibility as he is a self-admitted partisan hack employed by Vision to run messaging interference on the internet. It’s comical considering how many Gregor’s backers are up in arms over Jonathan’s wild-eyed nonsense and obvious inaccuracy.

There is an old Soviet saying:
“You pretend you are paying us salaries, and we pretend we are working.”
If Jonathon Ross is getting paid for the terrible excuse of messaging he puts out, Vision are not only liars, but they’re stupid as well.
I invite any City Hall employees to hang this up by their water coolers…..I hear Gregor hasn’t cut off the bottled water jugs for you just yet.
If you didn’t already feel this way, it’s coming to a cubicle near you…..very soon.
Isn’t socialism grand!

Let’s just say this: Jonathan Ross’ pathetic op/ed piece was enough to make the city staffers already concerned want to kill off any chance Vision will get reelected.
It was extremely poorly received. In the wider audience: Vision spent the last election saying how the bureaucracy isn’t the problem and it’s the politicians. Now their chief lapdog says something different. Very bad messaging and shamelessly expedient. Game, set, match.

Regarding the March 16th blog posting at civic scene – the following comments posted by Jonathon Ross need analysis:
“I plan on speaking to him (Geoff Meggs) directly in the coming days to figure out whether Council was told of Tsisserev’s “retirement” or of his dismissal.”
“My initial suspicions are that city staff didn’t give Council the full story to Council, and indeed portrayed Tsisserev’s departure as voluntary. Thus, there was no need for Council to question the suggestion of Johnston as anything but above board.”
“In watching and listening to the interviews Mayor Gregor Robertson has done, it is clear that he is unsure of the real story, and that has everything to do with the information provided by staff rather than deliberate attempts to mislead.”
Analysis:
- We look forward to Geoff Meggs’ return and until then, any explanation of what was presented In Camera.
- Council should have immediately questioned proof of retirement and effective date if it were true. They should also have questioned why, if someone of such high stature was soon to retire anyways, (2011), would it be recommended to now blind side him shortly after the In Camera meeting and march him out of his office without cause and contrary to Charter. This was a staged puppet play. Will Johnston holding the strings, Dave McLellan directing, Penny applauding. The councilors then being fooled.
- Watching and listening to Gregor Robertson’s interviews, without question he is obviously hiding that he knows more, he is clearly trying to work from a scripted, poorly prepared PR page. Having changed his story again and again he demonstrates that he has had to scurry back to his fiction story writers for a new version. “Oh my goodness they didn’t believe me, heck I didn’t believe me, what should I say now?” Their stories have all been deliberately misleading and Robertson has lost grip.

You are very perceptive my friend…..

I too have had a few personal Jonathan moments over the past decade and anything negative you can say about this fart-catching Martin/Marissen senate want-to-be is understatement.
Its no surprise he is now working for Mayor Happy Planet and the Vision Patronage Party since he was trying to weasel his way into Mayor Larry’s gig a few years back too.
Jonathan (BC’s self-styled Henry Kissinger) should go back to the UBC pub circuit and practise his hustle on the 2010 Young Liberal babes, since he wasn’t too successful back in 2000 when he and Mark were looking for fresh meat on campus.

He’s quite simply a pea-shooter for hire–without a stitch of credibility. That he was unsuccessful in other realms is really not surprising.

I should not call names, but Jonathan Ross is slime and prints unsubstantiated stories about anyone the Vision thugs tell him to write.
Alex, he needs to be ignored as he brings nothing to the table but bs, libel and slander.

JR worked for me – temporarily –at my former publishing business – in the mid 1990′s – when he was just starting out with politics. Nice enough kid, but bad bad habits with integrity and absolutely zero testicles.
He’s right where he belong it would seem.

Agreed.
Do you think you could rework your comments on the Port Moody/Trasolini matter? I cannot print an anecdote in that manner. Thank you.

sometimes I feel sorry for jon ross as for the past decade he has craved for attention or some acknowledgement and always fallen on his ass. He even tries to portray his is close to indo community but they do not trust him. All he is a job seeker, and some one who is so childish and insecure.
I laugh at all the times he has leached onto politicians etc in an effort for full time work. But he lacks any mental stability as he just creates drama. Grow up jr and move on to a real job.
