A Star Is Born…Okay Maybe Not With a Face Like This…

29

Finally, we have a video commentary. It’s too long, yes, and I need to stick to one topic, yes again. Plus the colours will be a little more vibrant next week. But you get the idea. So, please chime in with your criticisms and comments. It will make for better viewing as we progress…alright, I can hear some of you snickering, the view isn’t the greatest, but I’ll try to be interesting…and never repeat a tie! LOL!

Thank you for your assistance, in advance.

    Hi Alex,

Finally, your video project is up and running. I love it. You look great :)

I was shocked to learn about the overflow problems at the Olympic Village–I’m glad I can’t afford to live there–yikes!

    Go Alex Go!
    Go Alex Go!
    Yea Alex!

    • AGT says:

Thank you my dear, very kind.

      • Olga says:

        Hi Alex,

Regarding the province courting our indigenous peoples, according to The Criminal Goverment of BC blog, VIVELECANADA.CA, ‘It appears to be a deliberate attempt to deceive the B.C. people – especially the Native Peoples of B.C., and to make false “generous” deals with them to receive good land (lifted from the Agricultural Land Reserve) on condition that they give up their Reservation status (which means the land can be bought and sold in the market economy). When that set of shifts has been effected, Campbell can, in effect, deliver Agricultural Land Reserve property to private corporations – and, in the process, strip the Native People of their holdings because, having given up Reservation status and a few other fundamental Native rights, they will have lost their historic defenses and can be stripped not only of their land but of their identity.”

        • AGT says:

I’m not sure who gets behind these blogs, but as has been evidenced in my schooling of people like Koot and Grant, here, they have no credibility when they are driven by their zeal for an NDP govt. The impetus to investigate must be pure. I don’t like land coming out of the ALR unless it’s not of anymore agricultural use. And while I’m certain Gordo has been playing fottsy with the natives to keep them quiet, this blog you note may not have the story entirely straight. I’ll look into it and get back to you. You’re a doll, thx for stopping by, as always…

          • kootcoot says:

I don’t understand why Grant and I even come up here, on this thread, or can’t you address the topic Olga brought up – after all she does appear to be a properly fawning synchophant. After all your fan seems to be talking about Gordo and the First Nations – or is it your mancrush obsession with Grant and I that gets in the way of your rationality!

            • AGT says:

I looked into the blog Olga notes, and I have the following observations:

              1) While the premise is correct: The Premier was/is simply pandering to the natives just to keep them “quiet”, the allegations of criminality are, as I have always stated, unproven and unseemly, without incontrovertible proof. Do I think Gordon Campbell is honest. No, most certainly not, but sites like the one referenced do themselves a huge disservice when they go beyond what they can prove.

              2) Not one mention of the social ills that plague the aboriginal youth in the this province. Not good.

              3) It’s somewhat disjointed, in that it provide not real perspective other than to name the Premier as a bad apple and then throw as much shit against the wall about him, hoping something will stick.

As for you and Grant, he’s banned form here. You, I think, are intelligent enough, to figure out the rules going forward.

And it’s sycophant, not sychophant…. I believe you were lecturing me and others here yesterday about spelling and grammar…

  2. Good stuff Alex. From an ex radio guy, your delivery is good and will only get better. The content is as always very interesting. I believe you’re using blufftitler for your logo…
Keep it up.. & keep it interesting… your audience will grow.

Scaaaaaaary – being on dial-up in the sticks, I’ll pass – besides I’ve seen enough. BTW, do you have a neck?

    • AGT says:

Here again, is a classic example koot of why I’m considering banning you from this site. Your recent comments (earlier this week) we’re fruitful and productive. But this is the kind of horseplay that really means nothing and nullifies the earlier sense. If you think you are irritating me, you’re wrong. You are simply showing that you, Grant and other wild-eyed critics of the Premier do not have my credibility, and while you are well-intended and capable of being accurate (very little of the time), are nothing but blogosphere scum, occasionally dressed up to pretend you are not rabid, doctrinaire ideologues.

And…I have as much of a neck as you have testicles. BTW, what year did you draft-dodge from the States? I’m going to show you no quarter anymore if you keep this up.

Very well done m’lad! Obviously lots of talent. Good even oratory,
and handling of the presentation. Looks at the camera – excellent.
Good even speaking gets to the point.

(How may politicians have looked at the speech not the audience or camera? Quite a few).

Lots of potential here. Can think of being out there, on the street.

Merge this with your blog. With your talent and us fans, you can go
    places.

I’ve seen Holman’s presentations on his public eye. Not as good as this is. He tries to trap politicians too much with angled questions
that for a few are obviously way bent out of shape.

This has potential, Alex. keep workin’ at it.

But have admit when I first saw that face, I thought:

“SPECTRE’s new leader? Where’s the white cat?”

    just kidding!

    Lots of potential here m’lad!

  5. George says:

    Alex,
This was well worth the wait! Absolutely loved it, and can’t wait for the next installment…
The water backup doesn’t surprise me, it would be on the list of things they don’t want the public to know about at the Village.
The party is over and now it’s time to tidy up! and good luck to the city and provincial officials with that one.
As for the video commentary, for myself, I love your investigative style and the exuberance of your verbosity, but my sight isn’t what it used to be, so the audio is great!! The fact that you stand up, speak your truth and honestly say what you feel without backing down when you know it is right, most refreshing. Excellent job Alex, you have my vote;)

    • AGT says:

I’m not running for anything! But you’re terrific. Thx for the vote of confidence and I appreciate the kind words. As for the Olympic Village…just wait til next week…wait till I show you why the Mayor of Vancouver and Vision have much to worry about…

  6. Pedro says:

Hi Alex, Excellent for a first try, maybe a little stiff, what I am sure will improve, the contents are as usual extremely interesting.
Curiously enough the two posters you did mention, are the ones I usual bypass as a waste of time to read, however, some of the others are sometimes “Gems” of common sense.
One thing is puzzling me, what do the symbols on your jacket represent?

    • AGT says:

Yes, I agree with you. It’s basically a bit of a dry run, if you will… IT needs to be shorter and the colours need to change. Not sold of Front and Center, but it worked when I was over at CTV. Lets see where this goes. Your feedback is invaluable. Thank you Pedro.

  7. larry Bennett says:

Ah, there’s those dulcet tones I heard on CKNW some time ago. Calm, assured, critical but not vindictive (yet). Best damn voice on the air. Should you run out of ties, I’ve got plenty I seldom wear, and there’s always The Source … Tony Parsons!
Must say though, that I still disagree with you on the financial situation, at least at Vanoc, remember I was there. Mr. Furlong may look as though he just woke up and is wondering where he is, and he may be good at the blarney, (he is Irish) but he and the folks at that site did work hard. I still think the reputation Vancouver earned is hard to put a price on, in fact I don’t think I can count that high! As for a person’s looks on screen, I guess I wouldn’t have tuned into the CBC’s Rex Murphy if I let that bother me. Clean, groomed … good enough for this guy.

    • AGT says:

My dulcet tones and I thank you!

Larry, I do not disagree with you on VANOC’s handling of the Games–for the most part. I was talking about the Olympic Village. And I’ll be getting you more information soon. Cheers!

My great thx for your comments.

“Well done is better than well said”

I wished I said that, but no, it was Benjamin Franklin!

Tz, tz, tz…I fancy I knew in advance about that Pennygate letter of yours. You could have incorporated my Greetings in it too. Anyway, break a leg!
    You da’ man Alex!

    Great weekend ahead.

    Glissando

    • AGT says:

Thx my friend. Yes, after I tell you what a tremendous LIE Dr. Ballem told…you will know that if she has any integrity, she’ll resign immediately. I’ve caught her, very badly…

Much appreciation for your advice. Very useful. Blessings!

  9. Mark Latham says:

Great first video, Alex — looking forward to more! Especially when you start interviewing people…

Impressed with the high quality of video image & sound.

  10. Ed says:

just great to hear some straight talk for a change, thank you very much.
and for sure keep it up. Ed

  11. RS says:

    Bravo Alex!

Just between us Alex, not only do you have a heart, you’ve got cojones too (I was going to say “to boot” but that may have been confusing). Who else has the moxie call Campbell ‘n’ Robertson dimbells and liars.
    Hear! Hear!

With respect to the visuals of the clip, the Front and Centre graphic does not show well in my opinion. It’s distorted and fuzzy and I think it should be reduced in size even further once you’re commentary begins.
