David Suzuki’s God Complex

32

Some days, I just don’t know if He is paying attention or what…

You know who I mean. I have long maintained that the God who has saved me, time and again, must be a golfer. There is no other explanation for these long stretches of suspected absence.

Over the weekend, while I was researching further anomalies in play at City Hall, I caught a radio interview with Canada’s most overrated fruit-fly biologist. The ‘Pathetic One’ was busy talking about our oceans.

Well, that’s lovely.

We’ve only been hearing about concerns with respect to our oceans for over thirty years. However, not content to be Canada’s ‘Alarmist-In-Chief’, Dr. Suzuki decided that the oceans are now in danger–”grave danger” as he put it. (Note to reader: I could have also used ‘Hypocrite-In-Chief’, but it just didn’t flow as well)

And then, like the word from upon high, half way through the first segment, this nugget:

“If we don’t protect our oceans, then, I mean, what are we going to protect? It’s where we came from. It’s why our body, our blood tastes like salt.” (David Suzuki, March 2010)

He’s a nut. Quite apart from the obvious baiting he wants from church groups, synagogues, Christians and Jews, let me repeat, he’s a nut. Never has there been a more shameful excuse for an academic (Andrew Weaver of UVic comes close). I believe, like a majority in this country, that (at least some variation of) the Book of Genesis has it correct. I know, this is coming from me, a guy whose previous life would have Willy Clinton weeping in envy, and someone whose favorite writer, Christopher Hitchens and favorite comedian Billy Connolly, are both avowed atheists. But I have a FAITH, that what I believe, really happened. It’s my FAITH that sustained me through the most difficult times in my life. I could not have survived them if I thought we are derived from salt water plankton (with apologies to fresh water eels).

Enough preaching…as I respect any of you who feel otherwise.

David Suzuki spent hundreds of hours in the air, flying in from his home up the coast–on a weekly basis; took a cross country diesel-spewing bus on tour to sound the alarm about, among other matters, diesel-spewing buses and fat-cat elitists riding around in planes on a weekly basis; supports what I have identified as ‘Rape of River’ projects in this province, and generally practices almost anything else from what he demands you and I do.

Worst of all, he actually had the unbridled temerity, the unrepentant shamelessness while shoveling the usual rubbish, to bring his grandson into it. “I’m doing it for him”, he exclaimed. And then went on and on about how he was going to protect this and that, all for this poor kid, whose lot in life is to be related to a megalomaniacal lying idiot.

Dr. Suzuki must have been reading off the same script as somebody we know all too well, since they both pretend to protect the environment even though they support projects in this province that are killing it.

Does any of this sound familiar? Any other destructive, pathological liar you might know of that sounds like Dr. Suzuki? Anyone else you can think of who unhesitatingly prostitutes the fact that he is a grandfather?  Anyone?

No?  Let me help, my darlings, let me help…here you go.

I agree with you on all points and have lost so much respect for this man who was one of my hero’s as a young girl growing up in northern BC. His actions during the last election betrayed everything I used to respect about him. Clearly, one can not bit the hand that feeds them.

One the topic of that video link : Good God ! Is nothing sacred to this man?? This clearly shows how out of touch with reality he really is.

But then again, there would be much that could be said about the subject matter of this video, posted and endorsed by the Libs themselves…featuring none other than a lovely, black and white artsy style Gordo, talking about the love of his life.

Hi Alex, You are absolutely right the man tries to get attention anyway he can. PLEASE, PLEASE, how much more debunking does MSM needs, Suzuki is still peddling his wares, his columns are still published on many papers, not to speak of TV & Radio.
Can’t they find a reputable scientist, who is not a follower of far science fiction theories ( I am being kind).

Though I realize this is not a thread for comments on religious conviction (or not), I would note that William F. Buckley Jr., once noted that there is recorded a crusty academic believer, his back to the wall at the dizzy height of the Darwinian offensive a hundred years earlier. How could he still believe in God? He answered, “I find it easier to believe in God, than to believe that ‘Hamlet’ was deduced from the molecular structure of a mutton chop.”

  4. Janice says:

Alex, this is not only brilliant but shows your personal beliefs are deep and meaningful. I really admire you for this and for showing your religious side. The media never do this because they are cowards, but not you Mr.T! I really enjoyed this post.

  5. Crankypants says:

I had to check out the link just to be sure I was correct on the identity of Suzuki light. It took me a moment to be sure, as his trademark red mittens seem to be missing. Maybe he was worried about the possibility of exposing his grandchild to who knows what seeing as the ever famous mittens were made in China.

A quick perusal of the comments below the video shows that he is as popular with those viewers as he is with more and more BCers.

    • AGT says:

Yes, indeed, keen observation my friend. The comments were quite telling. No wonder he and Gore have ramped up the rhetoric–they’re desperate. It’s all unraveling on them now…

  6. P. Carroll says:

I used to admire Dr. Suzuki when he was creating his Nature of Things series in which he examined some of the real threats to the environment caused by our often reckless exploitation of the Earth’s natural resources.

Then the IPCC came along, and Dr. Suzuki jumped aboard the green bandwagon convinced no doubt that this was a cause he could champion no matter how threadbare the science behind it.

That the IPCC and its AGW theory are now being discredited almost daily hasn’t deterred Dr. Suzuki from upping the rhetoric, thus showing the world that he has become a pompous ass and a fool to boot for buying into the AGW nonsense.

Unfortunately, Dr. Suzuki isn’t alone playing the part of a rabid IPCC supporter convinced that the panel was simply misunderstood and made only a few minor errors. Most of the brain dead politicians and mainstream media in this country are still unaware that the IPCC’s theory is toast and continue to preach the green mantra about the need to reduce CO2 emissions.

A day of reckoning approaches for the nitwits who continue to lead this country down the road to an economic hell by pushing for futile CO2 reductions and by penalizing fossil fuel usage. If he listens carefully, Dr. Suzuki might hear the approaching tumbril.

    • AGT says:

You sure hit the nail of the head. The day of reckoning for these liars is fast approaching. It’s why their rhetoric has now become so hurtful and over-the-top. Interesting to watch. Thx for stopping by. Be well.

  7. Glissando Remmy says:

Oh stop it! I say stop it! Too funny, Alex. Hilarious.
Bill Maher, Dennis Miller and Jeremy Hotz may learn a thing or two from our own Premier Stand Up man, Gordon Dumbell.
The irony however comes from the fact that the voters of BC gave him a third mandate. I always suspected that the BC voters were a Sado-Masochist bunch, a hibernating community of sorts and they proved me right. Damn, they proved me right!
Of course with a weak leader of the opposition in Carol James and a culture of ass-kissing wide spread throughout the political spectre what can one expect?
As for David Suzuki, our own scientist in residence you are absolutely right. He would probably deny Evolution-ism and embrace Creationism instead, if his sponsorship dollars would come from the Catholic Church. Pitiful.
    Salute!

  8. Seymour Forest says:

AT – Environmentalists. Farmed or wild?

But there’s lots of merit in what you have written. Suzuki was very good with his Nature of Things, and now has become God Like.

    so has Oprah.

it kind of begs the fill in the answer in regards to Suzuki who has
academic credentials no doubt but in looking at him now..

    Suzuki Jumped The Shark when…

  9. hansel says:

To his credit Suzuki did a documentary on marijuana and skitzophrenia that was commendable. That being said, his ongoing diatribes on how man is worst creature this planet has ever prodced takes away from some the sensible things he presents. Especially in light of the corruption involved in the climate debate. He reminds me of the person who keep droning on the same issues until it comes across as BS., you never can really trust what he presents anymore.
My friend once wrote that the church has broad shoulders and can defend itself. But it does have its defenders. Good on you for doing so in your editorial. I have noticed lately how the norm is placing God in a secondary place and pantheism is replacing him by stealth in our society. Those who have faith are deemed as simple.

Aside; did you get a chance to see Layton’s vulgar display at Gretzky’s.
If I were NDP I would toss him out on the grounds he’s become an embarrassment!

    • AGT says:

Yes! I saw it an was stunned that he got it right!!! But then again, it’s the CBC. Like the cow that gives good milk and then kicks the bucket over, Suzuki/CBC will only allow for this phenomenon once every decade almost….

  10. hansel says:

we come from the ocean, thats why our blood tastes like salt. Wow! What insight! My drunken uncle used to come up with these pearls. May-be thats why my parents would try and hide him when company came over! David please for the love of sakes!

  11. ApplePie and Mom says:

Are you not familiar with allegory or are you playing stupid?

You also seem to be ignoring a fact that in bringing a message to people, it takes travel and face to face discussion.

Yeah, Sarah Palin uses her kids as props too and she said she has international experience because she could see Russia. Are you her brother? She is also unaware what fruit flies teach us and what purpose they serve to better humans.

You no doubt can see the ocean and tell me it’s in great shape and I shouldn’t be worried.

Why don’t I believe you then.

If you think trillions of gallons of raw sewage dumped into the ocean, what Victoria, BC has been doing for ever is really good for me, then I’m afraid you’re a bigger nutter than the doctor you so slag for allegory.

I’m deeply suspicious of those who state ‘for the children’, but more so those who profess their FAITH so much, ignoring education and specialists. Nothing worse than someone born again, indeed.

    Let me help, my darlings?

No thanks, I don’t need your condescension either.

    • AGT says:

Then don’t come here! Problems at home? Constipated? Run out of lavender and tea tree oil? Let me guess…..instead of a priest or a rabbi, you have an aromatherapist.

I have no idea what you’re going on about. I made a simple statement. If you don’t like it, great, but pls try to make sense when posting, thx…

  12. Pedro says:

Hi Alex, someone had Apple Pie “Indigestion” and as a result spews complete BS

  13. benigncontaminant says:

I once road on a Dash 8 to an interior community with David Suzuki. In the Gate at YVR I watched him as he took off his suit jacket, folded it neatly and stowed it in his carry-on. He then removed his shoes and his dress socks, packed them away and retrieved a ratty old pair of sandals. Then, a scrappy wind breaker appeared from said bag. Just before he got off the AC flight in —–, southern interior, he actually used his hands to mess up his hair. I walked off behind him and watched as his adoring fans gazed at him through the glass from inside the little terminal building. The Great Man strutted in and was welcomed as a the hero he is to these poor unsuspecting fools. Turns out the local college faculty association had invited him to speak about how the world as we know it is coming to an end, unless of course they all send money. He knows that speech backwards and forwards. He is a modern day flim flam man, a Sam Slick, a complete, unadulterated con man.

    • AGT says:

This doesn’t surprise me. I’ve heard several eye witness accounts about what kind of hypocrite he is and what tremendous lies he tells. Thx for the anecdote.

    • Wallaby07 says:

Wait, something about this story doesn’t seem right. Are you sure that was really David Suzuki? Suits and dress-shoes are not at all comfortable; the only reason that someone would wear them would be to maintain an image. If appearing in fancy clothes actually hurts Suzuki’s image, then it stands to reason that he wouldn’t wear them. I know that if my livelihood depended on dressing like a slob, I would never bother with good grooming.

  14. Dan says:

So he’s a little over the top. Brings light to important issues. Are you going to tell me the right wing isn’t over the top too? Religious loonies aren’t over the top when they’re trying to manipulate politics? Come on. Besides, yeah, the science does prove we’re from the ocean. Genesis is a fairy tale, get over it… its a pretty fairy tale though. You’re not a rebel, you’re just another right wing zealot fat cat.

    • AGT says:

You are living proof that God forgives idiots.

Only Conservatives are Christian and do not believe in the drivel that we are “of the oceans”?

Did I mention that you are living proof that God loves idiots too?

  15. Pam Jeffrey says:

Thank you for this article., these eugenicists, Suzuki, Gore, Turner need to be exposed for what they are: Elistist frauds, conspirators, and global racketeers. If there was justice in this world, these parasites would be behind bars, where they belong.
