No Shame at The Huffington Post: Factionalizing the Handicapped.

12

In what must be one of the most shameless efforts to politicize, in fact, divide the challenged, The Huffington Post, specifically one of the their “writers”, releases a horrific statement by an actress that attacks Sarah Palin for allegedly using her infant son’s disability (he has Down’s Syndrome), to garner “sympathy”.

Quite apart from the fact that this same voice actress has Down Syndrome as well, the breathtaking insanity of the statement by this gal is only trumped by the entirely idiotic manner with which the author of the story, Jason Linkins, refers to the response as a “good burn”.

This whole donnybrook started as a result of an episode of yet another piece of boob tube mind-pulp, ‘Family Guy’ (which is banned in my home and should be in yours, too). The episode in question featured a character who was clearly Down Syndrome spout off about her Mom “the Former Governor of Alaska”. This prompted an appropriately terse response from Gov. Palin, that the mainstream media largely dismissed. Well, The Huffington Post’s incredibly far-left wingnuts thought this was worthy of cannon-fodder. So they featured the statement from the actress and added insult to injury.

Some questions:

1) In the actress’ statement, she disgracefully suggests Gov. Palin uses her son’s disability for sympathy “and votes”. How does she know this? What a horrible thing to say, particularly considering she, too, is Down Syndrome. I’m still stunned.

2) Why didn’t ‘Family Guy’ use someone else’s challenged kid as fodder for a segment?  There are no less than two dozen higher profile American politicians with Down Syndrome kids, step-kids  or similarly disabled children.

3) What does it tell us about the left-leaning press that they pilloried Sarah Palin for defending her child and her lot in life?  Imagine if ‘Family Guy’ had referred to a Democrat the same way they referred to Sarah Palin. The Huffy Post would be running attack adds of the show, 24/7!

4) When I wrote Jason Linkins, the idiot who authored the piece for the Huffy Post, I stated, “Particularly considering you have no way of possibly knowing if Ms. Palin does indeed try to garner sympathy from her son’s disability, it is incredibly cruel, bordering on inhuman, to speculate”.  His typically moronic response was, “Thanks for reading”. How infantile.

Conclusion:

I am starting to think that regardless of the Obama Administration’s prayers for a Palin candidacy in the next election, their surrogates in the press are going to make a martyr out of this woman, and her woefully inadequate credentials for either the Presidency or Vice-Presidency won’t need to pass the necessary scrutiny.

There are no doubt many who would disagree with me, but the whole concept behind the Huffington huff, is that they really believe that Sarah should have had an abortion when she found out that the baby was not going to be perfect. People who claim to be pro-choice are often not so in actual fact. Where is the feminist outrage over the fact that China has enforced abortion for those who attempt to get around the one-child policy? Where’s the choice there? As for those who believe in what they call the right-to-die concept know full well that the right to die will quickly become the duty to die.

Notwithstanding my belief in a woman’s right to choose (even if that help comes from the other “participant” in the “process”) and that that choice doesn’t become a revolving door of convenience, I think your statement makes absolute sense. I think the rabid, so-called pro-choice lobby is stuck in that Ms. Palin is an international figure, who has indeed made a “choice” which offends the internal logic of their premise–which is to say, as long as you CHOOSE having an abortion, it’s all okay. I have a problem with that. The very notion of being “pro-choice” is that you have presumable selected one over another. As for the right-to-die nits, I have always been and will always be against those who plat God, in circumstances which are redeemable. Recently, a friend’s nephew, at 18, chose to have the plug pulled, but his quality of life had deteriorated so badly, and the pain became so insufferable….I don’t know. Heaven forbid any of us where ever in such a state and had to make that choice. Fundamentally, I’m against such decisions, although in this case I thought the poor lad had no other option. Great to hear from you Sir Lawrence. As always, you challenge me, oh so gently, but challenge me just the same. I love such back and forth. It’s the kind of moral challenge that keeps one’s ethical equilibrium in check. Thank you!

Hi Alex, Doesn’t surprise me at all, the US left has been doing it from the day they perceived her to be a threat to their “One” the “First” of everything, unfortunately for the US most of his “Firsts” were terrible mistakes.

    • AGT says:

True enough. But the attempt to legitimize the attack against a mother for bringing along her child to a public function, and suggesting that she’s doing it for support, particularly when said criticism comes from someone identically disabled…Dear Lord, it sends shivers up my spine. It’s so beyond the pale, so offside. And then to have some smarmy bastard at the Huffington Post refer to it as a “good burn”. What kind of sick idiot does such a thing??? Then again, Huffington features morons like Bill Moyer. Let’s stop there. Enough said…

  3. larry Bennett says:

The kind of people who watch shows like Family Man are the same ones you see at the book store looking at comics. I say “looking” because that’s basically what they do. They have no imagination so they need lots of pictures.
They’re the same ones whose concentration, or lack thereof, prevents them from reading a full paragraph, giving up half the way through.

    • AGT says:

Absolutely right. I guess I was just so utterly offended that there is nothing sacred in this world anymore. Children are so precious and do not belong in any public realm, regardless of whether or not their parents are in that same realm. Babies, in particular, are totally off limits. If Alexandra Kerry, Liz Cheney or Jenna Bush say something, fine, they put themselves out there and they’re grown women. But to be sniping at a mother with a disabled child is just the limit. And you’ll notice this almost NEVER happens from the right, it’s always some Janeane Garofalo or Rosie O’Donnell, or almost any other left-wing moron who will not hesitate to add offensive shock value, often in the midst of race-baiting, etc–when engaging in some over-the-top dialogue. This thing with Sarah Palin’s child is just absolutely the limit. And SHAME on the voice actress, who herself is Down Syndrome, for attacking someone on purely political grounds, but drawing their child into it. Truly appalling.

  4. kootcoot says:

this NEVER happens from the right,

Hmmmm, if you will recall, your hero Mr. Harper and his mijnions made fun of Jean Chretien’s assymetric lips, before they were successful in portraying the fiction that Stephen Harper is human!

I was gratified to see that Canadians were offended by this gratuitous attack.

When it comes to Tundra Trailer Trash and her baby, I find fascinating the odyssey that occcurred just prior to the delivery of her child. She, nearing delivery of an already difficult pregnancy at a function in Arizona or somewhere in the lower 48, chose to finish a speech, fly on multiple planes, bypassing modern hospitals (with more advanced neo-natal facilities) in various cities in the lower 48 and Anchorage to be transported finally to the mini-burg she use to rule – Wasilla – seemingly putting the child at risk for further damage and WHY?

I won’t speculate as to the reasoning for this seemingly irrational behaviour – though I do have notions.

BTW Alex, how can some one so rabidly hate Bill Moyers? he is at least ten times more intelligent than yourself and actually has real compassion, not the treacle you pretend to possess. I know he ain’t Reform, BC liaR or RePukelican – I guess that’s the problem!

    • AGT says:

Oh, what would a post firing at the doctrinaire left be without B.C.’s dipper-in-chief running breathlessly to their rescue?! Well, koot, at least you tried.

      1) I wrote, “almost never happens from the right… ” I was just as critical of Rush Limbaugh when he mocked Michael J. Fox. But the point is lost one someone like you, I’m sure, that such abominable personal attacks predominantly come from the left.

      2) When you come here, it would help if you knew what you were talking about: The Conservative attack ad, mocking Mr. Chretien’s permanent partial facial paralysis, was NOT run by anyone even remotely connected to Prime Minister Harper, or this current Tory group. The ad was actually run during the 1993 election when Kim Campbell was Prime Minister. It was as utterly disgraceful as it was poor strategy. But don’t let facts get in the way of a run on Mr. Harper. Often times, koot, you get it wrong. This is yet another example.

      3) Your rendition of what Sarah Palin did prior to delivering her son Trig, is simply, a myth. She was well aware that the baby would have Down Syndrome. Such births can be difficult, but the facilities in Alaska were certainly not sub-par. This was covered several times by the press in the US. But, again, don’t let the facts get in the way of your despicable inference that she didn’t care.

Good luck with your efforts for a Soviet Reunion…you’re a fool.

      • kootcoot says:

What in the hell are you talking about, a “Soviet Reunion,” talk about being fact free. Oooops, I forgot here you define the facts.

I may have forgotten the particular Conservative scum that had the attack ad on Jean Chretien’s mouth – assuming you are correct, which of course you must be.

I’m impressed that you can bring yourself to be critical of Rush Limpbag – who knows, maybe someday you will wake up from your life of entitlement.

As to the peregrinations of Sarah Palin to deliver Trig, that is only a :”myth” inn your excuse for a mind. Knowing in advance that the baby was already afflicted, but being so pro-choice as to choose to have the baby – it is difficult to understand why she would travel so far, past so many superior facilities to deliver in the backwater of Wasilla – I mean Trig would still qualify for the resident’s bribe from oil royalties just by being a resident, he didn’t have to be born there. It is so nice that Alaska gets many times the SUBSIDIZATION from hated Washington DC so the local pols like Tundra Trailer Trash can bribe their constituents with oil money – and use funds from DC to plow snow, build roads and pay police officers.

I’m didn’t say that the medical facilities in Wasilla were “sub-par,” but it is unlikely they are superior to those in say Los Angeles, San Francisco or Seattle – or even Anchorage.

One of my sons was born prematurely in Nelson BC years ago, fortunately before Gordo gutted the once outstanding hospital in Nelson as part of his attack on our area – after we even elected Air Blair Suffredine – ONCE only! Even doctors who used to practice there (in the Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson) can’t believe the degradation in quality and range of care there since the BC liaRs took over. But Nelson is doing better than say Kaslo, Kimberley or Castelgar.

I guess Harper doesn’t make fun of Little Jean, he prefers just firing anyone who disagrees with him, trying to bribe dying MPs, doing stealth campaigns, skirting campaign finance rules, gagging his caucus and making me pay for my own hate junk mail. As entertaining as the Olympics may be, I can’t wait until Stevie and Gordo have to return to the real world of their shuttered legislatures and deal with the temporarily ignored problems they’ve had a big part in creating.

        • AGT says:

          1) When I worte ‘Soviet Reunion’ it was in honour of the inexorable far left drivel that you are ALMOST always shoveling.
          2) Indicative of the way you comport yourself, you didn’t forget that it was Kim Campbell’s team that attacked Chretien’s linguistic paralysis, you didn’t care enough to at least find out. I doubt you remember much since it’s not the first time I’ve caught you making it up as you go along. But this one was a doozy. You’re only 17 years off when trying to pass off Stephen Harper as the culprit. I guess it didn’t even occur to you that Mr. Chretien was retired well before Mr. Harper had a chance to run against anyone–eventually doing so against Paul Martin. Oh well.
          3) Rush Limbaugh is a great radio personality, but he is VERY right wing and I’m moderate. He’s a staunch Conservative. I’m a red Tory. I enjoy his show, but sometimes, he has stepped over the line. Same goes for Ann Coulter.
          4) Your point on Sarah Palin is as foggy as your logic. A Down Syndrome delivery is not necessarily a more difficult delivery than another baby, depending on a whole variety of factors, including the mother’s personal state (age, weight, medical history–preeclampsia?). She received advice on where to have this child delivered and she followed that advice. Your bullshit about what was going through her mind is the same kind of stuff your ilk manufactures when you try to tack 9/11 to Dubya. When you can make some CLEAR sense of what you are trying to convey on this point, please let me know so I can school you for a third time.
          5) I agree with you on the degradation that Gordon has committed to in healthcare, not just in your area, but across the province. It’s shameful. We are agreed on this. But you know that.
          6) Stephen Harper NEVER bribed an MP and never tried to. Tom Zytaruk’s book is pure crap. If Cadman had brought down the govt it would have affected his pension, which goes to his family. There was NO bribe. That’s just continual horse shit shoveled by people who are either uneducated in the facts or just hate the PM and want to continue to perpetuate a lie. There are some issues, to be sure, that the PM can be criticized–the lie about bribing Chuck Cadman isn’t one of them.

American media have done much like ours and become tools of the governing crew . the huffy which ive read a few times isnt something i take too seriously same as Rush Limbaugh or pat Robertson both sides have some whacked out idealists with some public following Palin unfortunately is an easy target shes high profile and in the spotlight shes also attractive which keeps them finding her as well , the cartoon stuff was out of hand though but thats whats happened with entertainment as well more fluff less substance and on it goes .
