First Climategate (and the follow-up) and now Glaciergate
There were two significant stories that appeared this past week in the rapidly revitalizing National Post.
The first outlined a fairly complex issue of temperature gathering manipulation–in as plain language as possible. It is truly confounding how SCIENTISTS are getting away with such fraud. To selectively choose warmer readings to fit unsupportable hypotheses is such stunning research fabrication, that words cannot express how I would love to see these so-called scientists answer for these crimes, in public, before a committee of citizens who would demand for their tax dollars back.
Here, is where you get your first bit of shock…
Then there was the incomparable Lorne Gunter from the Post, whose work exposing global warming fraud deserves every major journalism award in Canada.
Read Mr. Gunter’s superb piece, here.
He outlines, in detail, the now brewing ‘Glaciergate’ that comes not two months since the miserably (thankfully!) failed Copenhagen summit.
I am wondering aloud, then, how the likes of Dalton McGuinty, Jean Charest and Gordon Campbell can survive in this pretend crusade.
Remember, this is ALL ON YOUR TAX DOLLAR.
So you’re damned right you should be upset.
In today’s Post the score goes like this: Samsung $7 billion for wind turbines, that are effective probably only 10 to 15% of the time.
Mr. McGuinty and the province and people of Ontario – $0

I have no idea how McGuinty survives. He’s been an awful Premier for Ontario.

Hi Alex, the truth relating to the AGW is always, conveniently omitted, or delayed for “sanitizing” from the MSM, afraid of destroying any further the already self-destroyed OS2 myth, which does remind me of the famous “if the glove fits you must acquit” (OJ Trial) with the IPCC & Followers the motto is “If the data doesn’t fit, you must omit”. The following phrase from Gunter’s article defines their attitude well: Zealots never want to be confused by the facts. Unfortunately, as you mention, there are the costs of the political folly.
[Translate]
We are, of course, agreed Pedro. I find it more than passingly curious how all this continues to escape the attention of such an otherwise “attentive” media. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Hi Alex, Just heard on the news, that the Suzuki Foundation states that the 2010 W/Olympics will not be Carbon Neutral (who cares), it is amazing the MSM, are still consulting these so-called environmentalists about a “fabricated” issue, a hoax which they helped to promote..
[Translate]
The great fraud of that entire discussion is that Suzuki himself does not live a carbon neutral lifestyle, typically using jets to get to where he needs to go to lie about the environment.

While I will agree with your post, generally, Doug Collins was a sick, pathetic, demented anti-Semite whom I will miss like I’ll miss my first wife.

Alex, I think that in one of your very first pieces on the subject, you’ve mentioned the name of the late Michael Crichton, the incredibly intelligent and way ahead of his time, writer, whose books are in my Top 10 “Best Fiction that beats the crap out of the Reality” List! The book I’m thinking is titled “State of Fear” written 7-8 years ago, first published in 2004. After readiing it several years back, Copenhagen BS, Gore’s eye rolling in Prime Time, Our Mayor & Carbon Cadman, the silicon Barbies and other concerned “Celebrities” crowding at the new found “Trough of Life” starts to feel like deja-vu to me. Because this book precedes all the current events I recommended it as a must read, it’s also entertaining. Just a thought and you know, for future reference.

Many thx…and now for the confession…I was gifted that book by a friend from Paris, several years back. And, it’s sat on my bookshelf since then. Unfortunately, I’m not a fiction fan, but AM a fan of Crichton (that’s why she sent it), so I will get to it this year, I promise. In the meantime, I’m going through Superfreakonomics and it’s FABULOUS. I recommend it.

Oh my stars!
I can scarcely wait until Bill Good shines a light on:
• The intentional, massive scale- back of weather reports from Arctic nations so climate change zealots can cherry pick from a handful of warmer sites (usually adjacent heat-generating northern communities;
• The IPCC’s reluctant confession that the Himalayan snows aren’t likely to melt anytime soon. Their report, which asserted with 90% certainty the majestic mountain range will be free of white stuff by the 2040s, won it’s authors a Nobel Prize. (Too bad their ‘research’ relied on hearsay from an enviro brochure.);
• The censorship by Google of references to Climategate via the search engine’s now-suspect Google Suggests feature.
Yeah, I just know our vigilant Mr. Good will ignore all these smackdowns of global warming. More likely, he’ll turn the CKNW mic over to buddy-good-pal Professor (but call him Doctor) Andrew Weaver to dismiss these issues as white noise. Weaver and Billy Boy will then shut down callers (most of them perfectly rational skeptics), dismissing them as dummkopfs or shills for the oil industry.

What?! With Vanilla Bill on the job, who needs anyone else?

It keeps getting worse/better. Kate at smalldeadanimals.com has a good summary up now. New stories are out today (Sunday) in the online editions of most of the UK papers.
- IPCC chief Rajendra Pachauri’s company TERI apparently leveraged their requests for government grants using this bogus glacier melt scare.
- The scare-mongering was led by a scientist now working for Pachauri
- A lead IPCC author has admitted that the scare was included in the IPCC’s 2007 report to pressure politicians and policy makers.
For that, in 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Wait til you see the story in detail on Pachauri. He’s a total fraud, liar and hypocrite.

The doublespeak is becoming quite amusing. From a colleague of mine, in the same breath, last year’s dump of snow around Christmas time was a “prime example” of global warming according to to the shrill, and now no snow is a “prime example” of global warming which of course is actually morphed into “climate change”.
So I put a couple of questions to him feigning faith in his musings (ya right). When the seas get higher, they cover more land? Enthusiastic YES!. So that means that there is a far greater surface area of water? Enthusiastic YES! So therefore there will be lots more evaporation of water? Enthusiastic YES! So we will get lots more precipitation world wide? Enthusiastic YES! So we will have rain in areas that don’t get much? Enthusiastic YES! So poor countries will get more rain to produce crops? Uhhh… YOU’RE AN ASSHOLE!
So much for reasoned debate…..

I just spilt a perfectly mixed Martini all-over my cardigan. I’ll send you the bill in Moscow. Very funny posting. Loved it!

Fantastic posting. We should nominate you for the Nobel Prize in logic, if they have such a thing.

Alas, I was nominated and lost to Barack Obama.

As an immigrant who 35 yrs ago didn’t cost a cent to Canada, arriving as a visitor, getting a 6 month work permit, renewed for another 6 months, fully employed and with a letter from my employer guarantying my future employment for a minimum of a year, I was denied Landed Status and had to go back to South Africa applying from there, being told I would be granted it for sure, considering my employer’s letter and fluency in English. Landed Status was quickly granted after 3 months, however, considering the considerable travelling expenses, 3 trips at over $1000 ea. (All paid by me) I delayed the the return trip for a year, applying for an extension of the permit.
The “Refugee” scam is being promoted by the people that under the guise of helping those in need, make a living exploiting these issues, some are called “Lobbyists” a vast field indeed. Why the Government did relax the refugee/immigration laws and fudges on many others, it is mainly due to their “input”. The same applies to the recognition of their professional qualifications. I was a Job Captain (architectural drafting) in South Africa and had to downgrade to Intermediate in Canada, getting back to Job Captain after a few years of adaptation, I don’t forget an Iranian Lawyer, complaining (in broken English) that they were ignoring his degree. Although I am ignorant of Iranian Law (fortunately) I think it is “slightly” different from Canadian law.

Hi Alex, This comment was posted on the wrong column, Sorry

No problem.

And THANK YOU on behalf of a grateful born and raised Canadian, for being so wonderful to this country we both call home.

Since I don’t travel everywhere in the world, I don’t know what is going on everywhere, and unlike some people I don’t have “friends” everywhere to keep me up to date.
However in my neighborhood I can’t help but notice that the glaciers I am familiar with and visit from time to time, like in the Purcells, Valhallas and Rockies are all receding rapidly. The Lucerne Glacier overlooking New Denver is threatening to disappear and has even been downgraded in its classification. The Columbia Icefield between Banff and Jasper has withdrawn almost beyond sight from the highway by high summer and so on. Maybe its just part of a normal cycle, or maybe not. Oh yeah, we’ve been having a lot more and lot worse fires this decade in the Okanagan and the Kootenays – but hey don’t let any facts get in the way of any rants.

Observable data, accepted. Doesn’t change the breathtaking fraud being perpetrated.
I have no idea why you keep harping about my friends. I have been blessed to have traveled the world and been exposed to “paupers, pirates, poets pawns and kings”
I found great friends in every strata…and they continue to enjoy me, as I them.

Is it hot/cold in here?
Or is it just me?

Cover-up…are those your nipples?! Seriously?!?!

Won’t matter how many illustrations of deceit by environmental organiizations around the world. No amount of evidence that the climate change scientists have lied will dent the confidence of the Premier in climate change doctrine. The promise of the New Era to make environmental decisions on the basis of science is the saddest failure of the Campbell government, for me.

Demi! I was wondering where you had gone. Nice to hear from you as always. Yes, it truly is a great failure considering the MASSIVE contradictions with IPPs and pipeline facilitations, increased tanker traffic etc. This and the pandering to the natives are the two great disgraces of the last half-century in B.C. politics. Both issues are kindling for the kind of alarmism that only serves to divide people, not unite them. Gordon is a joke. Thx for stopping by. Great to hear from you.

Hate to crash the party, folks, but anthropogenic climate change/global warming is the real deal. I’ll spare you the details if you’ll spare me the personal observations that prove I’m wrong.
Look into the backgrounds of those who are casting doubt on the authenticity of AGW, and you’re nearly certain to discover a conflict of interest that explains why they’re trying so hard to tell you it’s not happening.
[Translate]
Nice to see yet another ignoramus from the Tyee having a go…
You sparing us the details is a little rich. While I enjoyed your latest piece, you are not going to come here and lie like your brethren are you? Anthropogenic climate change is a political movement concocted by people who are being proven greater liars by the day. I suppose you’ll trot out the old ‘Big Oil’ argument. Well, I have no connections to them and neither do over 375 world-renowned climate scientist that object to the fabrications and manipulations. You’re welcome to your opinion. Just don’t expect to come around here and feel I ‘m going to give you the right to pretend.
Keep dreaming.

Alex, the next environmental hypocrisy from the provincial government will be the ban on cosmetic pesticides. In Ontario, the government is being sued for relying on information they knew was incorrect scientifically. The Cancer folks are not telling the truth about cosmetic pesticides. There is no scientific evidence that justifies a ban on cosmetic pesticides. The BC government will do it anyhow, because they do not make environmental decisions on the basis of science but on the basis of politics.
[Translate]
No question about it. And on the other hand they will pursue initiatives that are most damaging to the environment. Meanwhile, Suzuki still hovers like the annoying fly he is. I wish he’d get near my swatter…..
