Ross Rebagliati: Stuffed and Mounted

10

Last week when I did my piece on the doper candidate for the Liberals in the Okanagan, I received a note from a fairly prominent Liberal organizer from Ontario about two days later.

Here’s an excerpt:

“Alex, if you think that your tirade against Ross Rebagliati is going anywhere, you are mistaken. All you’ve proved is that you are out of touch with mainstream Canadians. The party is not going to stifle Ross because you or Ezra Levant say so. Pot isn’t that big a deal to anyone anymore.”

I wish I could name this chap, but we’ve been friends for almost twenty years, and I would hate to embarrass him nationally.

But, how about some  crow pie, pal?  Shall I heat that for you? A la mode you say?

Read ‘em and weep.  I know of at least four of five prominent Liberals that went to higher-ups with copies of my blog posting in their hot little hands.

Mr. Rebagliati is now under lock and key.  So, for the time being, no more idiocy about marijuana being “part of a healthy lifestyle” or legalization nonsense.

But give Michael Ignatieff credit. In this same news story, he comes close to blowing smoke, er, I mean, well, you know what I mean.

And have a good look at Mr. Rebagliati’s haggard, deer-lost-in-the-headlights, drug-beaten face in the picture at the top of the Globe piece.

Notice any similarities with someone else?

Yes, marijuana is harmless, yes, no worse than smoking cigars and drinking cognac, yup.  Yeseree…

Idiots.

If the Liberals really believed that Rebagliati is credible, they’d run him in one of the Vancouver ridings or Victoria, not the Okanagan.

    • AGT says:

Sean, be serious, man. Are you trying to suggest that Hedy Fry and Joyce Murray are credible? I just had my favorite lunch and it’s starting to come up on me…..and as you can see from my pictures, I’m an experienced eater, this shouldn’t be happening… :-)

He looks like somebody just stole his nickel bag.- If your friend is right, than I’m glad to say that I am out of touch with them; but I have my doubts about the veracity of his assertions.

    • AGT says:

That’s why I wrote the piece the way I did. I doubt his assertions as well. I think people, armed with the REAL facts about marijuana, would reject it in a heartbeat. As I ‘ve written umpteen times before, this isn’t your Granny’s grass from the 60s…

Plant the world Alex. Overgrow it so they can never destroy it all.

Great to have you back Alex! For a day or two you had me worried. This virus, flu, you name it, could come back with a vengeance. I’m fighting one right now, for the second time in a month. Anyway, everyone around me seems to be entering the Olympic Games Bipolar Disorder timeline. It starts in manic and ends most probably in depression, not much in between.
All quiet on my western front! How about on yours?
    Glissando

    • AGT says:

Thx. Glissy. Appreciate your concern. I’m swamped…about 50 emails and a dozen calls behind! And nothing’s quiet here!!! Still trying to confirm a story on the Victoria Libs. I expect something today…stay tuned!

The Globe has updated its story.
    Rebagliati is now talking!

Of course, he can’t win in a traditionally Conservative riding unless lots of Tories stay home and NDPers move their votes on election day!

    • AGT says:

Well, let’s put it this way: He won’t be talking like he did, and that’s the point the Grits wanted to make. He was rapidly becoming an obvious liability. Now it’s just not as obvious, but when you run an unqualified candidate, he’s a liability just the same. Mr. Rebagliati has no place in public life. He’s a disgrace.

And in furtherance to our discussion of bad habits, city business etc., we read that Vancouver City Parks Board is discussing banning of (cigarette only) smoking on our beaches and parks, and get this, they say it is a priority. We trust they will accept no monies tainted by tobacco taxes, in enforcement of same? Another thing to be proud of? A former Vancouver Pride Society treasurer has been charged with evading taxes; his own and hundreds of his clients. Just goes to show you that, deep down inside we’re all the same; that is to say, shallow. It may be why I never invited Svend Robinson to lunch despite his sparkling and brilliant conversation; it was just too tedious counting the silver ware afterwards. You’ll recall that Adrian Dix, shortly after the great bling heist, insisted that Svend was “a very moral guy.” ? Oh, and you’ve heard of the 72 year old Sikh gentleman who was sentenced to 2 years after sealed packages of ecstasy were found floating in his gas tank? Unfortunately for him, but fortunately for us, he was caught by American officials. He claimed he did it for the excitement. And if you believe that I have some ocean front property in Saskatchewan you may be interested in. He did it for the money folks, and likely took the fall for his sons, daughters and grandchildren. This is how he repays Canada for giving him citizenship? Have you looked into the eyes of those addicted to these poisons? Might be fitting if he never comes out.
