  1. Way to go Alex. I just got off the phone with a friend ( Canadian ) now living & working in Montana. He signed off by saying you guys will be paying for these Olympics for the next 40 years. It’s really sad what is happening to our Province. I pray that someday the people of the Province will wake up & demand that this dictator step down. As well, I truly hope that his government & friends are made to raise their right hand & tell the truth about the long & historical Basi/Virk trial.

    Guy in Victoria

  2. Laila says:

Brilliant! I love it! This I would actually buy.

Perhaps Alex, you could use your contacts to find out about the shooting that apparently never happened in the west end last night.

The Sun reported it last night, pulled it, and now only the Kelowna.com website is running it. Details on my site.

    • AGT says:

Thx darling. As for the the shooting, I know what you know. But it doesn’t surprise me that it was sanitized form the story roll. We’ll be seeing a lot of this over the next month. That’s why I’ll be doing a whole series on the Olympics. The real story, not the puff pieces being done by the drive-by press.

  3. Anonymous says:

I hope you get sued you fucking ugly fuck. Everyone is sick of your complaining about the Olympics. Like you care Mr. inheritor why don’t you just fuck off and die. Do everyone a favor ugly. You wish you had as much brains as Gordon Campbell.

    • AGT says:

This comment I will allow to stand by itself and will not reply to…simply, I just want my readers to know that this is the kind of horse manure that gets shoveled my way whenever I criticize the Premier and/or his monumental monumentality.

  4. blaffergassted says:

    I did not laugh.
    Honest!

  5. Laila says:

Me again Alex, seems you have some of the same nasties BC Mary and I have been getting recently.

    • AGT says:

Yes, it’s quite disappointing. You’d think they could take a little prodding after all the suffering they’ve caused. That’s why the BC Liberal party needs to be scrubbed clean of the Campbellites.

  6. Hey Alex,
If this Anonymous individual would resemble a human being with balls or ?… He or she wouldn’t hide behind anonymous and make those sorts of comments. He or she either works for the Premier or is maybe just as arrogant as the Premier who likes to hide behind his band of MLAs when the going gets tough. I’m proud of you for printing his or her comments to show us just how ignorant some people are.

    Guy in Victoria

    • AGT says:

Hey Guy…yeah I wasn’t going to put it up because I usually get one or two way over the top comments every time I write about either the Premier or Gregor Robertson. The comments I get when I write about Robertson are vile and I’ve confirmed they come from Jonathan Ross, Vision’s propaganda twit: Insulting my parents, sisters…my appearance etc. But the ones I get from Anon sources when I write about Gordon are just WAY over the top and I can’t print most of them, but this one came in right away and I happened to be online, so I let it go through. I learned a long time ago that tasteless and offensive comments aren’t worth posting. A robust exchange, no problem, with epithets, no problem, but to attack like this is just ridiculous and that reflects on the Premier’s crew who are quite upset at me…I guess for telling the truth. Oh well. Tough. Thx for checking in.

      • RS says:

“The comments I get when I write about Robertson are vile and I’ve confirmed they come from Jonathan Ross, Vision’s propaganda twit.”

Hmmm? Could one postulate that the mad man behind the expletives is none other than the top autocrat himself ? There’s no doubt he thinks it, but surely he would never make such a grave error in judgement or behave so brashly and harbour such spite for those who would criticize him — would he?:-)

        • AGT says:

I doubt it, to be frank. But his henchmen are out in full force, believe me. I had a Victoria lawyer offer me free services if I get sued for this, which, frankly, would be a complete lark since it was clearly in jest.

  7. Pedro says:

    Hi Alex,
Is idiots like “anonymous” which make open minded discussion more necessary then ever, their “motto” is to insult in troglodyte language, instead of exposing an opposing point of view.
Fortunately, those of us which appreciate reading your sarcastic columns, even if sometimes not agreeing with your point of view, usually take the time to support YOUR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION, which is beneficial to all.

  8. Herb says:

Well, at least he used his real name.

  9. Henri Paul says:

I love it when you talk dirty,I bet your into kinky stuff aren’t you , don’t you just wish that was your arse that pencil was shoved into? Come on baby turn that crank.

  10. larry Bennett says:

To self (sotto voce: Daren’t bring up a certain female politician from the wilds of Alaska, or for that matter of one from the wilds of Surrey. Wonder what kind of reaction I’d get bringing up Chris Delaney. I listened to him some years a go, and liked what he had to say, though I suspect Alex fears he may split vote with Liberals thus leaving the gate open for the NDP to come through the center)
At any rate I won’t be ordering this … thing, I’m not into crudities, but to each his own, I suppose. Don’t get me wrong, I think too that this has grown into a bit of a financial monster, but I get the distinct feeling that many want the Olympics to be a disaster, a failure. There are those who build and create and there are those who tear down and destroy. They said the same thing about Expo 86 and I think they were proven wrong, and I think time will show that this will be, in the long, long, run, a sum benefit to B.C..

    • AGT says:

Sir Lawrence: No one I know wants the Olympics to fail. They’re already a failure. EXPO was a TOTALLY different proposition: There was no censorship, fine fiscal mgmt and a truly welcoming embrace from the province. This is entirely different. We’ve taken the province to the brink of technical insolvency over the Olympics. The Premier lies consistently about the Olympics and the manufactured many hurtful initiatives and policies which negatively impacted peoples lives. As for Chris Delaney, who I know and like very much, yes, it’s simple: They take flight, the NDP are guaranteed govt. Nothing complicated. But read Vaughn Palmer today. A great analysis of the BC Conservatives–who I endorsed in the last election in an effort to create a balance of power, but they had mostly poor candidates and empty policies. And Wilf Hanni was a very poor leader. Nice man though. And you can mention Dianne Watts or Sarah Palin here anytime. I like them both. But the former will make a great Premier while the latter would be great as the night manager at the Olympic Garden in Vegas.

      • RS says:

“I think time will show that this will be, in the long, long, run, a sum benefit to B.C.”

I’m not an economist, but I don’t see how it would be possible for economists to measure the benefits of the Olympics way off in the distant future — they couldn’t even anticipate the financial meltdown we’re still reeling from when it was staring them in the face. Hell, Campbell and his financial wizards’ recent budget debacle proves that econonic forecasts, even in the short term are dubious (Or would that be duplicitous?) at best.

  11. larry Bennett says:

    P. S. Alex, I hope this Anonymous fellow isn’t the same guy who wrote all those beautiful poems! It’s good to show the ignorance of the kind of people you (and the rest of us here) must deal with. I think your looks are positively Byronic compared to this kind of ugly.

  12. Eleanor Gregory says:

The person who so impolitely slagged you really needs to get better material. He or she might try insults like your mother being a hamster and your father smelling of elderberries.

    • AGT says:

Thank you my dear. Yes, a very strange but not particularly surprising comment. I get them everytime I write about either Gordon or Gregor. Funny that. Always a pleasure to have you stop by. Cheers.

  13. Call Me Madame says:

I just discovered your blog a few weeks ago and I am now a regular reader. I don’t always agree with you on every point, but I needn’t do so. The important thing to me is that your posts are relevant, well-reasoned, well-written, and thought-provoking. That is what I look for in blogs, and what I used to look for (but seldom find nowadays) in the mainstream media.

    I love today’s post!

Keep up the good work, and a very good day to you, sir.

    • AGT says:

Thank you Madame. I’m glad you enjoy this blog. OF course, no one, even my regulars agree with everything, but you know, I learn a great deal from my readers and am so very appreciative of their intelligent comments. I feel privileged to have you (and them) here. Pls come again–anytime.

  14. Seymour Forest says:

Very creative, but not anatomically correct for the Gordomatic (unless he has revised his gender somehow

What you see is a female, not a male, (ass is too cute to be Gordon’s) but with the antics of Mary Polack, and a few other women Ministers, ya gotta wonder, eh?

That appointment that Polak did for Heather Stillwell the Fundamentalist is a real lulu. The Dippers are going to get a bit of
    mileage out that one.

The Games begins in four weeks, but after the Olympics, for the political watchers and pundits, there’s going to be lots of fun things to
    watch.

    Be there when they happen.

    and keep your blog smokin.

    • AGT says:

Oh that Mary, yes, I thought bringing Heather on was not terribly smart, but unsurprising. you know, I know Mary well, and I like her immensely, but the stratospheric rise in her profile in the last some years has raised more than a few eyebrows in and outside cabinet and caucus. Her performance through the cuts in her Ministry was absolutely abominable, if not completely insensitive. And yes, when the Games begin, I’ll be here and we’ll see what happens.

And I don’t think this sharpener was meant to be a male…considering the breasts and rounded derriere…then again. nowadays…LOL!

As always, I’ll be watching. Thx for stopping by big man.

  15. Glissando Remmy says:

Hilarious. The photo is future wallpaper on my computer!
For the Anonymous, however… I have the following words:

“The English language is a most precious treasure you’ll never find, master or make use of. Next time when you’ll feel the need to send some gibberish for translation, send some over to me, punk. I am always good for a free lesson or two. And I’ll correct you, don’t you worry about that!”

The following clip tells the oldest camaraderie story in history; the witty viewer could easily identify the main characters and extrapolate them to real life. Ours.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq6_FcTLrtY

Alex, you may choose between Athos and Porthos; d’Artagnan is too young, I guess.
    Aramis is taken. By me!

  16. crankypants says:

I see you got the PAB’s attention. I just wonder if it took the whole crew to come up with that number of f-bombs or is it in his/hers blogger retort dictionary. How childish.

I am kind of disappointed in the souvenier though. I thought I’d at least get a Gordallion to put beside my BCRIC shares. One question. Where do the shavings from the pencil go, or is this sharpener as functional as our current provincial government?

Glad to see that you have recovered from your flu bug.

    • AGT says:

Yes Cranky, I have. I’m lucky I don’t get sick very often or very long. Your line, BTW, about the Godallion is hysterical… Good to hear from you, as always.

  17. SB says:

Great work and about 1000x closer to truth than any other media in BC has come in 10 yrs lol

    • AGT says:

Too kind, SB. I just think it’s pathetic when there are so many fluffers in the media about what a great party this is going to be and how wonderful a proposition it is. Really? Ask someone who is barely getting by, regardless of the current economy. As I’ve said and written many times before: I have been privileged to know some of the best reporters and journalists in this land over the years. The current crop in this province, generally speaking, are lazy and ill-informed. Anything to pls the editor who wants to be the influential movie-star at the next Throne Speech reception. But get the public the truth? Forget it. Too much to ask. Pity. Thx for stopping by. Be well.

  18. DWT says:

Re: your anonymous commenter – how sad to be living such a miserable, angry life.
Takes me back to a professor of mine who once said that if a person has to resort to profanities, they have no command of the english language; or, more likely, the lack of intellect to use it.

    • AGT says:

Yes, I certainly agree with you. I’m no prude, I can swear with the best of them, but to do this and so publicly and the super-personal stuff is just beyond the pale. Thx for checking in!

  19. Grant G says:

Hey Alex….Why do the pro-olympic lobby compare the Owelympics to expo 86…Expo was like 6 months long and ran through a glorious bright sunny Vancouver summer…The Olympics are inviting people to Vancouver for 18 days in the middlle of winter when it`s grey, rainy, windy…Not exactly stroll the stree weather.

Great stuff AGT…..Brian from Garden Bay says hello, looking forward to your next appearance on the Sean Leslie show.

    Keep on keeping on

    Cheers

  20. larry Bennett says:

I suspect that Mr. Seymour Forest would label anyone who believes in God to be a fundamentalist. I lived in Surrey during Heather Stilwell’s school board days and while she was never the type to refrain from speaking out and giving her honest and legitimate opinions about some very controversial issues, and was condemned as being politically incorrect and impolitic, she continued to get herself elected, because though some would not agree with some of her beliefs, they always knew that the students came first, not the teachers.
The federal Conservatives in Surrey blundered horribly by rejecting Heather and allowing the nomination of Chuck Cadman’s dim-watted relict to stand, even after she had earlier told the voters that her own personal choice would be the interminably boring NDP candidate, Penny Priddy!
Tell me, is a fundamentalist anyone who holds to some very basic, not to mention ancient precepts and tenets? Is it a fundamentalist position to be appalled that teachers in the public school system have the legislated right to entice your daughter to have an abortion and to then supply her with birth-control chemicals (and no doubt her amorata with condoms) without so much as a howdy-do to the parents. Is it a fundamentalist position to throw condoms at our young boys, while assuring junior that sodomy is an absolutely proper and even a delightful pursuit? Honestly Alex, I think some of your fans are fundamentally bereft of common decency.
The reason women like Heather Stilwell are over-looked, even with experience and organizational skills, is because most politicians, male and female, absolutely wither under the wrath of a righteous woman. They fear people with a religious persuasion because that kind of conviction is foreign to them. Mary Polack comes highly recommended in your columns and the comments of most of your readers; presumably becasue she has an eye for excellence and talent. A little trust in her skills and choices is what’s needed here today.
We recall that Stephen Harper wisely stated that he would not reopen the abortion debate (at this time), but folks, the screw is beginning to turn, and you don’t need Mark Steyn’s documentation of the fact that Western Civilization (as we’ve known it) is descendant, we need only look around us to see that if we don’t begin to replace ourselves and our traditions and culture and beliefs, and oppose the growing secularity that is hostile to Christians we will lose the heritage that was built for us over the past 2000 years.

    • AGT says:

The beauty about my readers Larry is that they are intelligent and quite decent. The y might not be as Conservative as you, but that’s okay. I have readers who are devout NDPers who agree with my opinions too. More to the point: Stephen Harper committed to not opening the abortion debate PERIOD. If he did, he would lose me and many others, and not because I am a rapid pro-choice supporter–as you know, I’m not. But because the law is written and the book closed. Partial birth abortions are barbarism and not practiced, but to tell someone what to do with their body is tough. On the other hand, I don’t think it should be state-sponsored birth control either. ‘Nough said on that. The examples you cite on the decency continuum I can live with, but Heather’s record, I cannot. Simply put, it wasn’t so much that she voted against gay literature in school libraries, but the way she did it. Being gay isn’t a bloody crime. In fact, many moons ago, I and three other friends lived with a fourth friend who was gay. We couldn’t have loved him more for his friendship and camaraderie and when he died of AIDS we missed him terribly–still do. I think we let kids grow as kids, not adults–they have lots of time for that. But her comportment was well over the top in keeping those books out of the Surrey school system. Sorry.

      • larry Bennett says:

        Dear Alex,
Please, no need to apologize; I’m a big boy, and quite a bit older than yourself, so I’ve been through the moral mill myself, I’ve done some pretty immoral things too. The difference is perhaps that I admit to that. No book is ever closed Alex, they have been saying for years that this was a dead letter issue; well, it’s still alive, what? 40-50 years later, and it is still contentious. The screw turns Alex. I guess that the proposition that the Californians voted for that outlawed SSM is dead too? Do you really think that I rejoice at the tragedies faced by gay men and women? I’m only human, they are my brothers and sisters, I have been addicted to alcohol and nicotine, and, quite frankly, enjoyed it all, but there comes a time. Do you really think that teachers and our “betters” should be able to step on our rights, mess with our children? What do you think “All Day Kindergarten” is all about Alex? A friend of mine up north who home schools said he wouldn’t even put them in the local Catholic school, hearing that they insist the children all write a daily journal. That’s not about expressing oneself, it about control and spying on their family life.

        • AGT says:

I’m not going to go so far as to suggest it’s spying, but it doesn’t strike me as the right thing to do either. I have MAJOR objections to many of those kind of items too. And, no, I do not think you rejoice at any sufering. I know what kind of quality individual you are–but you were dumb enough to be one of my first big readers/boosters! LOL!!!!! No what does that say??? You’re first class, Larry.

      • Seymour Forest says:

Larry – er sorry pal, not a Fundamentalist, and I still hold true to the teachings I had in Sunday school at our family’s Anglican Church.

God knows those teachings have helped me deal with many things including handling Fundamentalists in my political adventures.

What bugs me about these Funadamentalists is that they consider themselves to be the sole protector of teachings of God’s word, and that in reality is hardly the case. That they are right and everyone else is wrong, which again is hardly reality.

I’ve met Fundamentalists who lied and a few dishonest during my political adventures. I’ll tell AGT here off camera about those (some can be real stories for a book) but not when your digital recorder is goin’. You’d think they would be squeaky clean in politics, but in regards to some, they were worse to handle than any opposition
candidate or opposition campaign that savagedly chewed on our candidate.

Heather Stillwell has been a political disaster waiting to happen and did more than once or twice. She’s personally a sound person, but she should keep her religious convictions at home or at church where they belong.

and Larry. you’ll find in numbers within the Christian Faith far more moderate followers than Fundamentalists.

and remember the real “social conservative” is one who is fiscally conservative, socially responsible (as in working to keep the social
programmes such as health and welfare for those who need a hand
up, not a hand out). The term “social conservative” as used now was
remanufactured in the States as a marketing tool by the Fundamentalist movement in the United States. It originally started
showing up in BC during the late 1980s (and guess who was Premier at that time.

        Keep the Faith my son.

        • AGT says:

I should probably turn your exchange with Sir Lawrence into a stream on its own–for the simply reason, that I agree with so much of it. I have had the exact same experience as you. I’m not sure why this “social conservatism” has taken shape the way it has, either. But Heather Stilwell represents the worst of it, to be sure. BTW, who was Premier in the late 80s??? I can’t remember. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. larry Bennett says:

The stars have not dealt me the worst they could do:
My pleasures are plenty, my troubles are two.
But oh, my two troubles they reave me of rest,
The brains in my head and the heart in my breast.
    Later!

    • AGT says:

Oh grant me the ease that is granted so free,
The birthright of multitudes, give it to me,
That relish their victuals and rest on their bed
With flint in the bosom and guts in the head.

Houseman is one of my favorites. But you knew this…

  22. larry Bennett says:

Just thinking … (as I am wont to do). Alex and Seymour have many allies out there. Just today both Vancouver dailies printed the same letter from a woman, a social worker, who ranted and whined about the appointment of Mrs. Stilwell, calling her many things, and that she had “archaic” beliefs. I must confess that I too, have those beliefs. Let’s see, when did God supposedly present Moses with the decalogue? Was it 5,000 years B.C. or merely 3,000? You know, that passe stuff like: Thou shalt not kill; etc. We must never hold to a single truth; truth they would have us believe is in the eye of the beholder. Diversity is whats needed. We must ask ourselves then, why the deadening uniformity (and even conformity) of such things as the “Corren Agenda”? Just wondering.

    • AGT says:

Ah, now we’re talking…the Corren agenda is abominable. It’s not about gay equality, it’s about superiority, even priority. I’d like to know why we need to force feed 90% of kids what MAYBE 10% of kids MIGHT be feeling? My son is eight. He heard the term “gay” at school and asked me about it. So I told him–no judgments–just simple talk and let him think about it. He came back about a week later and said, “That sounds too weird to me Dad, I don’t think it’s bad, but it’s just not what I think I like…it doesn’t make sense to me” (he has a terrible crush on Britney Spears… I know, I know, don’t start with me.. and has figured out how to find ‘Hot Women’ on the internet–which I promptly safety-coded…) I don’t think we need to hard-pedal complex matters with children, just some guidance and let them go off to the park and hit some balls or to the movies and JUST BE KIDS! Heather Stilwell had a much different idea: She thought the stopping of gay books in the library was her duty as one of God’s army. God also created gays and lesbians. God also created you and me. Tolerance I accept and celebrate but moral superiority I cannot.

  23. larry Bennett says:

Very diplomatic, and I think you handled your situation properly, but as for so-called tolerance; tolerance my friend, is the virtue of people who don’t believe in anything. There are many things we mustn’t tolerate, and telling children, who are very impressionistic at that time of life, that this sort of thing, which they are incapable of conceiving, is mete and proper, is just plain wrong. should they grow naturally to this kind of impulse than there are somethings we must accept and we must never abandon them to themselves, but we must never totally condone.

  24. Justin Culmer says:

The issue here is that this prototype lacks technological innovation. Luckily, Apple, already hot off the mark with its newest “period” product line are building on the iconic Preparation H line of family products by releasing this “Preparation Campbell” series, as illustrated above. They realize, though, with the use of the small “i” in their other products, they will have to use the small “pc” in this line so as not to offend.

  25. Sylvia says:

I am, politically challenged, so I am happy to read you, AGT. I, once ventured to post a comment, and I was ridiculed. So, I posted back and told him to put his comment, where the sun, don’t shine. I, guess I was impolite, and shouldn’t have gone down to his level. However, anonymous, seems to be in the gutter where he/she belongs.

I would be interested, of your view, regarding the NAU. All the chatter about the subject, has caused me to, feel uneasy.

    • AGT says:

You mean the North American Union? I think aspects of it are fine, where it pertains to commerce and trade. But the alarmism over losing our identity…what identity? We allow people to wear “religious” head dress that hides their identity and carry weapons under the same thin guise of “cultural expression”. Don’t get me started. On the other hand, we have been closerthanthis with the US for centuries. A little late now to be worried…
