Sarah Palin: From the Mouths of Babes
As a sign that the apocalypse may not be far off, Gov. Palin is quoted in a new political book called “Game Change” to have said that John McCain’s choice of her as running-mate was…please make sure you’re seated…
“God’s will”
I know, I know, I do this to myself. I shouldn’t read these things, it only makes my stomach more sensitive. I should go back to reading just Auden and Frost.
In the same book, Senator McCain’s infernal former manager admits that she was a last minute pick because Senator Joe Lieberman, Fast Johnny’s first choice, would have lost the support of the conservative base.
What idiots.
Joe Lieberman would have been a superb choice and the independents they would have picked up would have more than made up for any lost sliver of the extreme right. Instead of admitting that they were ill-suited to run a campaign, they fixated on cultivating the conservatives, a limited proposition, instead of making inroads into uncharted, independent, vote-rich territory. Former Clinton Senior Advisor Dick Morris called it early that Sen Lieberman would be the best choice, and I immediately agreed.
Then again, Dubya’s Q-rating had dimmed so badly, they wouldn’t have won if Ronald Reagan himself had been the candidate.
Mind, if Gov. Palin, too, was as astute as she thinks she is, the Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric interviews would have been easy pickings. Instead, they became the collective death knell of a campaign that was soaring right after the Republican National Convention.
But remember…it was “God’s will”…
Think about this: The American election was decided in a conversation between two intellectual titans–Katie Couric and Sarah Palin.
I can’t take it anymore.
You read it here first: If Sarah Palin becomes the Presidential Nominee for the Republican Party in 2012, the party will suffer it’s most humiliating defeat, ever.
Why can’t someone just make her the CEO at Hooters? Please.

After 25+ years of fendiing off cable TV, I recently capitulated. With the impending demise of over the air signals on the horizon, the rabbit ears have been layed to rest.
It was under these circumstances that I happened upon The O’Reilly Factor on Fox News the other evening. It would seem by his gushing that Oh Really? is enamoured with Sarah Palin and very supportive of her future run for President of the United States.
“God’s will” ??? OMG! The apocalypse must be nigh! God help us all!
For someone who says he won’t stand for spin, Oh Really? sure made me dizzy! If Oh Really? were any further to the right he’d be in the wings.

I was an advocate of bringing Fox to Canada, well before the CRTC approved Al-Jazerra, and then Fox! Yes, I thought O’Reilly was fawning and it was disappointing. Usually, they are pretty good. But I agree with you, for sure.

“Relying on the Fox News Channel as your only source of news is like using MAD Magazine as a legitimate source of news.” Ron Kaufman

Granted I’m new to cable ‘n’ haven’t watched a lot of Fox, but if Oh Really? and the ultra-conservative shills that appear on his program are any indication of what Fox is all about…well, I find that very, very scary.

Hi RS,
While I am loathe to hail Kaufman as anything other that what he is–a misinformation peddler of equal stature with those he pillories, Fox News is the number news source in NA and the info Kaufman quotes is dated and deeply slanted. For example, the data is mostly form 2002. Fox, since, has surpassed everyone in and outside of cable in everything from viewers to advertising dollars etc. They do have a slightly conservative slant, yes, but the stories they cover and the angles of the stories are superb. CNN, I have discovered, is too busy kowtowing to anything left. Now, the hiring of Palin is a MAJOR mistake by Fox, but let’s see where this goes. They have some very good reporters and commentators. Frankly, I prefer Glenn Beck to any of them. He didn’t hesitate to go after Dubya when he deserved it. Thx for your notes! Much appreciation. Keep ‘em coming!

Perhaps it was “God’s will” that Obama became President.

I needn’t note surely, that Dick Morris shall not go down in history as having made the best of choices, and I think Sarah Palin would be more likely to have the Big Guy’s ear than he. Would you mind terribly explaining what makes up the “sliver”of the extreme right? Would it include career women who choose not to abort their severely handicapped children even when informed prior to birth? Also, how wise would it be to listen to the prognostications of a former top Democratic advisor?
I will not attempt, like Sarah Palin, to suggest I would know the will of God, though many of us do when we accept the rebuke of conscience – but neither would I be so brassy as to say so, for sure. That said, I do agree with you on the intellectuality (or not) of “titans” like Palin and Couric, and even go so far as to suggest that Couric has the greater probability in that regard, but often in these matters, intelligence must play handmaid to an enlightened conscience. However, seeing as you’re so damn sure of Palin’s defects would you be willing to consider her again in 5 or ten years when she will still be vital and, hopefully, wise?

Larry…here are two quotes from Sarah Palin’s debut as a Fox News “Analyst”(!!!!!!!!)
“There is an obvious disconnect between President Obama and The White House and what they are each doing to the economy towards the kinda economy Americans might think they could want…”
And the next nugget:
“I don’t know about the left-wing and what they are doin’ with the financial crisis terms that are favorin’ for towards to worst of we could be really expectin’ in our hearts or not…”
One cannot be an analyst when one knows nothing.
Particularly how to speak English, I draw the line there, thanks.
The only way I would consider Sarah Palin… is at about a quarter to five in a sticky Vegas morning, after about a bottle of Jack and a long prayer…

Hi Alex, I am afraid that we disagree about Sarah Palin, instead of looking at her speech lapses, I look on her “real” track in Alaska and anti PC, frank attitude. I prefer any politician with a honest approach, to any charismatic demagogue, which just feds BS to be elected.

Look, I don’t dislike her. And I agree with you that she is very real, but it’s so obvious that she is several leagues below the Presidency, I just don’t know how anyone could promote her with that in mind. Honest approach, noted and appreciated, very, but after the sizzle dissipates, the steak has to be there…

Hi Alex, I am glad to see that we are mutual admirers of Glenn Beck (not a surprise) the reason Fox is surpassing all others on ratings, is that viewers know that they are conservative (they don’t hide it) but Fox gives you ALL the news and opposing points of view discussed with “genuine opponents” and not the disguised biases of the “pap” served by the other networks pretending impartiality

That’s right Pedro.
