Two Fascinating Perspectives on Terrorism Offered by Two of Canada’s Finest Writers: George Jonas and David Frum

8

It is not just for his magnificent piece on Pierre Trudeau’s manufactured legacy by a suppliant media, but the National Post’s George Jonas often clarifies the fuzzification of issues like no one else. His take on the current lack of anti-terrorist measures has made me think that my tacit approval of the so-called ‘Nude Scanners’ might have been a tad hasty. In fact, I might even be willing to recant, not because of dear Mr, Jonas, but because since my support for such measures I have been paying very close attention to people like Issac Yeffet, the former Executive Director of El-Al Airlines (the national airline of Israel) and (stellar) perspectives he is offering on how we in the West are only reacting to terror and doing nothing pro-active about it.  I fully support such a view. But George Jonas puts this into wonderful context particularly when considering the botched Christmas Day bombing attempt over Canadian airspace (the flight, of course, on it’s way to Detroit).

Mr. Jonas expertly puts the entire issue sharply into focus, in one paragraph near the end of the column.

“If the same authorities that confiscate toiletry from matrons in Miami had bothered to profile Abdulmutallab, his scorched private parts would be in better shape today. The “system” Napolitano thought worked just tickety-boo had cheerfully waved aboard an Airbus a 23-year-old Muslim male from Nigeria travelling without luggage, who had purchased a one-way ticket with cash at the airport, was already on a terrorist watch-list, and had been denounced by his own father for being a radical. What could a $100,000 full body scanner tell officials about a man who all but had “suicide bomber” pasted on his forehead? Technology can’t cure stupidity”

You can read Mr. Jonas’ superb column, here.

Similarly, the National Post’s David Frum advocates what I have long considered a problem in the United Kingdom: That radicalized Islam reigns supreme over the Muslim community there, and it is, indeed, a growing threat to world peace and the safety of anyone on their deadly radar.

And a firghtening statistic from the same column, that should have you wondering just what kind of fantasy land the chief immigration fools in Britain live in.

“About one-sixth of British Muslims look with sympathy on terrorist acts. According to British police, about 3,000 British Muslims passed through Osama bin Laden’s Afghan training camps. More than 80% of British Muslims consider themselves Muslims first, British second — by far the least patriotic score of any European Muslim community”

People who do not feel or appreciate an allegiance to their adopted country first, as citizens, should go back from whence they came.  Deport them.  But alas, this would interfere with their rights “as citizens”. Britain is not alone. We practice the same idiocy here.

You can read the incomparable Mr. Frum, here.

Hey Alex, love your website! You are totally right on this terrorist shell game being too much for anyone with a brain. What’s up with Obama treating them like regular criminals? If you ask me the man has a screw or two loose. Keep up the good work Alex, everybody’s watching.

I think the President is clearly in over his head and the fact he has now shown himself to be nothing more than a suit with an operating lexicon should be troubling to anyone who is a fair observer of how the Obama Administration has dealt with any issues related to terrorism or the Middle East. It’s quite troubling.

There are those out there (not us) who would point to a certain bias from Jonas and Frum because of their Jewish background. Jonas is, I feel totally unbiased, as is Frum, though Frum has proven (to me) to be a bit wobbly on certain matters. (What the heck, William F. Buckley’s son, Chris voted for Obama!) It is a great gain for the NP to get Rex Murphy at a time where he is badly needed in a depressed (recessed?) media. Wouldn’t it be great if they could get David Warren from Ottawa? And Conrad Black and Barbara Kay aren’t too shabby either. wWith talent like this I dion’t see how the paper could fail, unless of course there are unseen political or financial hobgoblins afoot!

Both Jonas and Frum are complete right wing morons

George Jonas and David Frum are two of the finest writers in this country. The National Post is blessed to have them.

If ignorance is bliss, you must be the happiest person on the planet.

  4. Mike Hibbard says:

You guys are really cowards. You promote war, hatred and ignorance from the comfort of Canadian safety, expecting our tax dollars and troops to do your bidding. COWARDS, COWARDS, COWARDS. Everyone who dies in these current mid-east conflicts, civilians and combatants, are dead because of cowards like you who won’t fight for what they believe in.
Cowards who spin words, provoking anger while promoting ignorance, cowards with not a care for anything but themselves and their money. You and all those who share your views are either evil or ignorant. May the ignorant become enlightened and the evil brave enough to fight so they can take the bullets for the young and naive. How long you think a fat useless fuck like yourself would last in a war zone AGT?

    • AGT says:

      Mr. Hibbard:

I’m trying very hard to see things from your perspective but I’m not sure I could ever come close to shoving my head up my derriere. Congratulations on clearly having such fluid gymnastic ability.

      Kind regards,

      AGT
