Hot Air Rises…Once Again
Imagine my utter delight, when I received this lovely little bomblet in my inbox some time ago, though, from a good friend, who is also unswayed by fantastic prophecies of global destruction.
Behold, the Happy Mayor, Jolly Green Gregor, and Canada’s most insidious and self-important fruit fly biologist/fanatic were to be shutting down (yet another) bridge all in the name of global warming alarmism and sanctimonious lather.
Question: How did these geniuses know that they could “expect 10,000″ people. This is reminiscent of the Pride Parade fantasists, who, miraculously, manage to predict the exact amount of people lining the parade for the following year (regardless of the fact that two cops I know have given estimates much lower for two consecutive years…) Answer: Because the press release goes out and the generally lazy media, who are afraid to question anyone, just accept and go to print.
If you really want to know what kind of horse manure is being shoveled your direction by Vision Vancouver and Mayor Space Cadet, then have a look at this. It tells you everything you need know about the interminable hypocrisy of these people.
Make no mistake, the Mayor of Vancouver is surrounded by people who will make a whole ton of money from global warming hysteria.
The siphon is already attached to your pocket! Shake it loose! Shake it loose!
The discussion is only over for the profiteers and the fantasists, who are desperately trying to undo a decade of statistics showing that the earth may in fact have cooled.
Poor dears…there’s always a problem when you have to battle the truth.

Alex, this is great. I am also glad that I’ve found you again. Are we ever going to hear why you left 24hrs. so suddenly? Were you pushed by the lefties? My wife and I really miss reading you every Thursday. They had a bizarre man writing about Surrey today in your old spot. It was a real disgrace. There is no longer a reason for us to read 24hrs.

Hello Don. I, too, am glad you found me! No, I don’t feel it’s worthwhile to parse the reasons I left 24 Hours, as that’s well behind me now. Suffice it to say, they were moving in a different direction and I chose not to travel that road. I wish them the best of luck. I enjoyed my run there and they have lots of potential. As for the chap who was writing today, I wouldn’t worry about his comments, as Mike Klassen of citycaucus, com was being more mischievous than anything else (although for the record, he raised some good points). But he’s in line with the direction of the paper, he’d be a good columnist for 24Hrs…..good luck to all of them.

tsakumis! you’ve resurfaced! now i get to read your comments everyday! this makes me very happy!!! i also think that the gw lobby is full of you know what. too much evidence on the sane side to just shut dialogue down. keep us informed mr. t!

You’re very welcome here anytime. I’m pleased that you enjoyed my columns and that you’ll be reading. As for the GW lobby, yes, definitely, they are in over their heads. The evidence against their drivel is overwhelming, and, thus, worthy of discussion and exploration.

Hi Alex, Your site is on my bookmarks, although I commend your restrain on your reasons to leave 24hrs, I suspect that your views did clash with the “paragons” of “open mind-less” about GW who consider the CO2 theories final, with complete disregard for the common sense that if they are sure about their theory, they should welcome discussion to prove their opponents wrong with real facts, not computer projections and that is what the so-called “deniers” are ready to do.

I’m no rocket sugeon but, looking at the Vostock ice core data, it certainly seems there’s more at play here than the burning of fossil fuels as the alarmists proclaim.
Sure we should do what we can to minimize or reliance on fossil fuels, but…

Complete agreement. We compost, recycle, walk where we can. I drive a hybrid/converted SUV. But this incredible, freakish alarmism is so over-the-top, that no amount of reason seems to translate for these fanatics. The worst part is that it hurts Wendy the Waitress, Tom the Toolbelt and Pete the Plumber while they’re trying to raise families and keep their businesses afloat. The elitists int he GW alarmism movement don’t care who they hurt as long as they are lining their pockets. It’s so transparent.
